It’s the fact he is still getting paid by Everton that makes it ridiculous.
If it was a United player out on loan doing that, there would be a 30 page thread within the first 24 hours.

He's so utterly lacking in ability that it's probably his only way to be relevant.

I didn’t realise he actually played for Everton, I just assumed he had a dislike for them due to some random reason.

Well his loan is with an obligation to buy so he is not going back to Everton, even if there was a way for Marseille to wriggle out of it his contract is up unless Everton trigger the +1 and they are hardly going to do that. I don't think his record is going to get him a move back to the PL so he is fairly safe but I guess there is a chance he ends up at Tranmere in a year or two in which case he might want to consider never going outside his house except for work.
