NCAA College Football 2017/2018

Well I was pleasantly surprised by my Tigers last night. I was worried about Bryant and how he'd respond in Lane Stadium, but he put those worries to bed pretty quick.

Also.. damn. Our D might be better than it was last year

I think things are shaping up for January's CFP final rematch. Bama and Clemson are leagues ahead of the rest of the pack. Right now I have Oklahoma and Penn State also entering the playoff, but Penn are yet to play tOSU and Michigan so that may change. I think USC are too erratic to get in, although they're still favorites to win the PAC 12.

Western Michigan and Buffalo starting their 7th overtime
They just showed the highlight of the sister of one of the players running on to celebrate a TD and then getting a police escort off lol.

I give up on sports.
Our OC is an OU fan. He asked me today if he could temporarily pull for Clemson until Mike Stoops is fired
Michigan blows it again against MSU. If they beat Penn State there'll be no undefeated teams in the Big Ten East.
I really don't see them beating Penn St. They do what Michigan State does but are 10x better at it.

There might be riots on the streets until that drunk ginger is fired. Our politics are quite predictable (outside of Tulsa) so we don't often do protests, but if you give up 38 in Norman to fecking Iowa State then that will get us violent.

That Miami/FSU game was quite shit in the first half, got a bit better in the third, then had a fantastic finish.

I didn't see the MSU/Michigan game until I saw the highlights this morning. Harbaugh needs to find a legit QB if he ever wants to compete for a national title.

Yeah that fecking sucked. At least I missed having to watch it, as I was on the sidelines myself last night, but that wasn't that great either as we lost too :wenger:

The only consolation I have is that we lost to Pitt unexpectedly last year too.

We have to play Syracuse next week, assuming we get past Ga Tech today. :nervous:

The rankings are shaping up such that if you win your conference and have at most a 1 loss record, you'll have a 80% shot of making it into the playoffs. You guys have the VTech and Louisville scalps so going undefeated from here forward should see you guys in.

Texas may have the worst collection of defensive players I've ever seen at a big program. They can't defend the pass, they tackle poorly, and they don't offer much of a pass rush.

Damn shame how Mack was allowed to run the program into the ground, and Charlie couldn't revive it. Not sure if Herman will either to be honest.

Wasn't Strong fired after pressure from boosters? Wonder how long Herman will last at Texas.

Most likely. The behind the scenes stuff has also kept top tier coaches like Saban away (yeah yeah, Saban appeases his idiot fanbase by saying he never was leaving, blah blah, but we all know Saban will lie). The Texas coach deals with a nonsensical fanbase and wealthy alumni and benefactors. I recall hearing something about the Texas HC is required to attend regular engagements with these wealthy alum, which requires being an astute politician in dealing with their massive egos and the wealth that controls the school. Have also heard there are other odd requirements when being Texas HC but do not recall what exactly was mentioned.

With all that in play it still boggles my mind how Mack survived past 2003 after multiple losses to OU (two by embarrassing scorelines) and his conservative nature in big games. He got lucky when he turned Vince loose halfway through 2004 and for all of 2005, then just missed out on a probable national title game appearance in 2008 (because his DBs forgot how to play pass defense against Tech) and unlucky with Colt McCoy's injury on the opening drive in 2009 title game vs Alabama.

But the demise was evident in 2010 when the team crumbled and the talent level showed a big dropoff, most noticeably the failure to get a top tier QB (whiffed on Gilbert and Case McCoy). Yet, Mack parlayed past success into an extension in Jan 2012 that once again made him the highest paid coach - after going 5-7 in 2010 and 8-5 in 2011 (bowl win over unranked Cal).

Mmmm... I'm not sure you know how this game works...

We honestly don't have this many away fans in the Horseshoe when Michigan come around. It would be a bloodbath...

Edit: what a cheap TD to give away. Ballsy to go for the 2 pt conversion, no dice though.

Edit2: Neutral venue. I'm an idiot.

 It's played in Dallas at the State Fair equidistant between the two campuses with the stadium split down the middle between burnt orange and crimson. It's one of CFB's most sacred traditions!

Had no idea until tonight :D

Miami and Auburn bite the dust...

Edit: not sure what's happening in Miami.
