NBA 2022-2023

Everyone would take the Gobert deal - it was utterly stupid.

I think Heat might be the only team interested in Lillard for Herro, some contract matching players and 3 firsts.

No need for Herro when we have Sharpe. Bam is still quite young though and could fit the timeline, if we don't get Wembanyama. But yeah, Heat could be a possibility and their future picks are bound to be great with their ageing team.

Lillard would be far more worthy of the price than Gobert too.

It’s the Heats, they rarely tank and it’ll end up in the late teens.

Or the mid 20s. They are the Bruins of the NBA, trading future picks with them is a bad idea.

Who do you blame when a team has 19 blown double digits leads and it's not the first season?

That’s true. I vividly remember how everyone was getting excited over Philly getting their 2021 pick as part of Bridges for Zhaire Smith deal and it ended up being worth next to nothing after they acquired Butler.

What do you lot think of this? He might be on to something

More noises coming from Haynes about Dame not willing to be on a rebuilding team or a mid-tier team and wants Blazers to improve immediately… given the current roster construct I don’t think there is any other outcome here than him being traded, even maybe at a lower price, as I don’t see how we could possibly have a contending team in the next 2-3 years.

That kind of stat is enjoyable for a Wolves fan but pathetic from anyone else point of view.

Thinking about it more, the best team to trade Lillard would be the Nets.

Cam Thomas, Simmons + the 3 Suns draft pick and pick-swap? Adding Dame to a team with Bridges, Claxton, Cam Johnson and DFS would have a great chance at top-4 in the East.

Shame for Europeans that they’ve started with arguably the two most one-sides contests of the first round. I’ll try to stay up for all of Cavs-Knicks but no chance I make it to Kings-Warriors.

I would want at least one first round pick to take Simmons salary on, and that may not even be enough… he’s got two more years at $37m and $40m, so you may need two Suns picks to even get rid of that. Thomas is probably worth a late first and not a building block, especially when we have virtually the same player only more developed in Simons. So that offer is nowhere near good enough.

The Nets fans also really hate this proposed trade, so it almost certainly is the right offer.

Dame is 33 going into next season, and he is not a Lebron or Steph at 33.

How can they hate this idea? Unless they are deluded into thinking Cam Thomas is going to be a superstar they give up almost nothing to get a superstar. Suns will not be that terrible with Booker and Ayton still young and not even in their prime. Even when KD fades they will remain a good team. Maybe the 2029 pick is going to be nice but I don’t even like the 2027 one let alone 2025. And Simmons IS certainly a massive negative value that they will struggle to offload.

He isn’t them but he was still one of the best players in the league when he played this season. He’s a shooter and a playmaker who has looked after himself over the years, I expect that his body and game are both going to mature well and he will keep playing at a top level for the next 3 seasons easily.

However I think it’s not what Nets or Dame should be looking for.

Celtics would be a good candidate and could probably acquire some assets to get it done by offloading Jaylen (but not to Portland as it would be pointless if rebuild was the goal).

If Brown goes, I think they would go for a very good, healthy big instead of another guard/forward?

Yeah and they’ve proven to be able to compete with current point guards, not to mention they thrive on defense and he’d make them much worse on that end.

Really it’s probably just Heat who can get him with a reasonable offer AND have a real need for him. Lakers and Clippers would love Dame but there’s no way they can put together an offer.

I would be happy to trade Poole away this summer. There is brain dead and then there is Poole.

The Dubs lose way too many close games. Disappointing but not surprising.

At one point in the middle of the 4th Curry and Thompson started downing 3s and I thought it was game over for Sacramento, but they kept answering with their own clutch 3s. One hell of a night for Fox on his playoff debut.

Lakers v Grizzlies and Heat v Bucks at a decent hour tomorrow. Nice. Hate sacrificing sleep to watch the playoffs.

That was very poor for a team with so much experience. Kings were there for the taking but Warriors obsessed with shooting 3’s
What I didn't understand was the 3 they took down 1 with 10 seconds left when only 2 was needed. Drive to the basket and get fouled or look for a (relatively) open 2. I know Wiggins was open but he was 1-7 up to that point on 3s. Get the 2.

Well they were in the penalty with 9 minutes left but barely shot any free throws because they kept jacking 3’s. I can live with Steph & Klay but in that situation you mentioned Wiggins should definitely not be taking a 3

I added to my post and yes we definitely agree.

Knicks v Cavs is probably the closest matched series of all though that first game was largely awful with poor shooting, turnovers and chaos. Knicks reclaiming home court is big though as MSG is notoriously hard to play in.

Kings v Warriors is my favorite series though, the arena was buzzing last night and no surprise given the length of their playoffs fraught and despair of the previous several seasons. Warriors are still firm favorites but Kings could make it tough by claiming the second game.

Reaves and Hachimura coming up clutch tonight.

Bit worrisome that we need to be shooting nearly 50% from downtown and no Morant on the other side and it’s still a close game though.

It would suck if Morant is out for an extended period though. Even though it’d be great for us, don’t wanna see a series beheaded like that.

On the other hand, fantastic that James wasn't that great tonight and we were still able to shift gears in crunch time.

Yeah also true!

Nice feeling getting that G1 win and home court advantage right away. Getting carried away here of course but I’d LOVE a series against the Kings, would be so nostalgic to me.

Rob worked some black magic stuff on the last day of the window. Lakers are deep but AD staying fit is crucial. Morant injury looked bad.

True. Am not Lakers fan, but I watched them a lot this season. The transformation is quite something. It is not only how deep they are, it is also about their defense which made 180 degrees change for the better. They are now genuinely a really good defensive team. Also, Reaves is a baller.

Morant fall looked scary (landing from that height and with all his weight). I think he was near the bench at the very end, so there is some hope it is not that bad.

I agree Reeves now looks a genuine threat offensively plus he is a very good defender. Vanderbilt gives the team much needed grit . Lakers could go far. Let's hope Morant isn't badly injured.

Bucks in trouble here, losing to the Heat and probably losing Giannis for a while.
