Well they have their two point guards in Ja and Tyus, but I did not realize Tyus' contract expired at the end of year... they should be able to get him back on a friendly deal considering his role though. He's been perfect for them and they've been perfect for him. If anything they also have Melton signed up next year who can play 1/2.
Their 2/3s are Brooks, Bane and Konchar (who's a fringe player).
Signed up for next year they have:
Jackson Jr $29m
Adams $18m
Morant $12m
Melton $8.25m
Williams $4.6m
Clarke $4.3m
Konchar $2.3m
Bane $2.1m (!!!)
Aldama $2.1m
Tillie $1.9m
Tillman $1.8m
So $98m in total, will have some cap space as cap is projected at like $122m. They will fill two roster spots with their draft picks this year too.
So from practical point of view they can afford to extend whoever they want (I assume Tyus will be no brainer and will sign for $10m or less), they have expiring contracts to package for bigger salary (Adams, Brooks), they have a ton of useful players on team friendly deals, their biggest star is not up for an extension for another year, their second/third best player makes $2m a year, they have about 15 second round picks (some of them quite juicy), they have Jazz pick this year and Warriors 2024 which is only top 4 protected and by that time Warriors may not be that awesome anymore, and all of their young players will be getting better. I don't think there's a team in NBA in a better position going forward than them to be honest.
I could see them trying to get Beal. He's probably going to decline his player option for next year, if he's not super keen on getting a supermax from struggling Wizards, they can do a sign and trade where they give Wizards both Adams and Brooks, a couple of picks and maybe one of their young players not named Morant, Jackson or Bane. If Beal is up for a move to Memphis they could get it done. Not sure he's absolutely perfect from position standpoint though.
If I was doing 2K with them I'd try to get both him and Jerami Grant (though with his extension coming he might not be the best option). If I was to invent a perfect player for them to trade for it'd be Jaylen Brown but absolutely zero chance of that happening now that Celtics have gone from being average to being amazing.
