NBA 2020-2021

I know I'm biased but it's about time Steph got some love for the MVP award. You could make a pretty decent argument that this year's Dubs without Curry is no better than last year's team and they managed a league worst 15 wins and even though they lost last night this current iteration of the Warriors still has a winning record. In the last 10 games Curry has hit 58 threes at a 50% clip and is currently at 48/43/94 and 29.4 ppg for the season. That's pretty damn close to his unanimous MVP season and yet nothing. I know the Dubs are currently not a great team but w/o Curry they would be abysmal. Where's the love?

They've a shit roster apart from Luka. KP can always be counted on to miss 30 games a season and they've let their best 3 point shooters in Seth and JJ Barea leave the club in the summer.

Their results would look even worse if Luka doesn't get his customary 10+ free throws per game. If they don't overtook their team quickly, their season would be over by the time the All Stars game comes about.

What do they do though?

Seems no big name FAs want to go to Dallas. Not sure what they have to acquire a star player bar giving up Porzingis if someone would take him. They're also unlikely to get into the top three and never get fortunate enough to get the top pick in the lottery.

Trading for Porzingis was the death blow, he has only played above 70 games once and that's his rookie year. Giving him that huge contract basically crippled their team financially and now they're a bunch of inefficient shooters who don't play defense.

Considering what the price was (Dennis Smith Jr and two picks) this was really a no brainer at the time and still is. Funnily they’ve probably got more value out of Hardaway Jr who was a salary dump for the Knicks and considered to be negative value at the time than they got out of Porzingis.

Do the Nets trade Irving to get some defensive/supporting players in?
Would anyone take Irving fearing he may decide to stay home on any given day?
They definitely won’t trade him. Also I don’t really see any reasonable deal that may be out there and will not be a significant downgrade. They will get a few all right defensive players (like McGee) via trades/buyout and that’s all. Their path towards championship is being an all-time great offensive team, not a balanced team.

Also consider that NY just flipped DSJ for Rose, so in reality the Knicks got 2 picks and an aging (but still quite good) backup pg for KP.

I'm pretty sure I posted on here that this big 3 would not work as this team is constructed, and it would be for defensive reasons. Then there was some talk of salted fries.

Absolutely no way he should be top 3 even. That’s LeBron, Embiid and Jokic. He may have a chance coming 4th but that’s not really important at all.

14-12?

How do you get outscored and win at least once?
Probably based on the points differential of the 13 games combined which could be negative. Seems like the only explanation to me, but a pointless stat if so.

Wouldn’t assess them based on regular season. They are going to be tough to overcome in the playoffs. Also, they will add 2-3 players between now and May.

If Nicola Jokic was a 'name' - he'd be running away with MVP. But LeBron has sold himself as robbed last year and desperately wants more, and IS the name of NBA. So it's basically his to lose....

It's the same with Kawhi, dude refuses to PR himself, so is somehow out of the running.... somehow. He's usually out of the running due to game management, doesn't do that, performs, still no better off in the conversations, when he should be.

I see the opposite, the regular season is going to be easier for them. In the playoffs, you play against better offenses and defenses, you also play more half court defense against teams that will have the ability to exploit them.

That rookie class has been great so far. Charlotte have gone from being dumpster fire and one of the least interesting teams in the league to being the most fun team in the league thanks to LaMelo Ball (and Hayward), Halliburton has turned Kings around with his intensity, some of others have shown positive signs too.

Seems fair enough I guess.... but yeah, a bit trivial. It's not a fully formed big 3 - usually they need a free agency to get the free ring chasing vets and shit. But let's throw em under the bus anyway.

Jokic is going to have the same problem as Curry. They are both performing at an exceptional level but their teams currently just do not have enough wins. Personally, as it stands right now I would go with Embiid but to me it is wide open and of course there's still a long way to go.

Which is absurd for an individual award but is sadly far too true. Curry has to be right up there in the running though, he has been phenomenal this year, performance wise no one has been "running away" from him.

Tough game against the Nets coming up but should be able to pick up a couple of wins against Cavs and Magic. Disappointed not to pick up another win in Texas trip.

Another win, another 40 from Steph. He's really looked good these last few weeks. Thirty points per game now on 49/44/93 shooting. The team as a whole though is still struggling for consistency but when they're on it's really fun to watch.

When Wiseman is back they should have options on front court. Been impressed with Oubre lately, thought he was shite along with Wiggins, but both have picked up. Klay's injury has really hurt them this year. They might make the playoffs but IMO they don't have enough depth to go all the way.

Next year though would be contenders, especially if they land a top pick from T-wolves (and their own).

for all the talk about being a pretty shite draft it has be exactly the opposite.

Edwards is a pretty good player and I can see him striving outside that shiteshow in T-wolves. Ball, Wiseman will be stars and Okoro, Halliburton, Cole has shown promise.

The way Harden is playing for the Nets deserves more praise. He’s playing ludicrously well as the playmaker. Runs the offence, leads the league in assists and... it’s just so fun to watch. You have to watch his highlights from tonight, so many mind-blowing passes.

Early verdicts on the big 3? Reckon they'll work it out somehow?

I wouldn't bet my money on them. Their perimeter defense is non-existent and there's nobody to match up against Davis, should they make the finals and run into LA.

Kyrie and Harden get in each other's way and don't maximize each other's impact. They'll be good, and it'll be interesting to hear what others think, but I don't see the Nets winning the championship.

AD aggrevated his achilles injury and this time it looks pretty serious :( Just hoping he'll be fully fit before the playoffs at this point.

The reddit thread on Cavs wanting to trade Drummond is hilarious.

All the users with Pistons and Cavs flair are shitting on him whereas Spurs fans all think they should trade him for LMA's corpse.

Regarding Drummond, this is what I've been seeing recently:

I don't know whether the Cavs want a bunch of our assets for him, or they just want to let him go. As inconsistent as Drummond has been, a motivated Drummond might just be what we need given that Baynes has been poor for us.

Puuuuuhhhhh no serious injury and only probably out for 2-3 weeks :p

They will know what is to do with him but hopefully we will rest him many times in the regular season.
Yeah I read late last night that it wasn't an achilles rupture, huge relief. He did reaggrevate his previous injury though and added a calf strain? Man cannot stay healthy for an entire season ever!

Makes no sense to play him before the ASG now, that's in three weeks I believe. Get him fully healthy for the playoffs and all aboard the LeBron MVP train now
