Nasri, what on earth?!

He's always been a technically gifted player, now he's just showing it on a consistent basis. I expect once Cesc fecks off he'll get even better in his preferred position in the middle. He's wasted as a winger because he doesn't have the speed or strength to get past players on a consistent basis (even then he does a pretty good job when used in that role).

that's just not true is it?

certainly not the Nasri I was watching
I thought Nasri was the better capture over Ribery when they were both at Marseille. He had a good first season including a matchwinning performance against you (when he should have got 3 if not taken down in the box by Vidic). Last season he broke his leg pre-season and missed half of it.

my main problem with him was he used to ghost through too many games, now he's having more of a consistent impact during matches, really playing to his potential and showing what he can do

That's a fair point, he used to disappear in aways a bit.

Sigh. As always you're never as good or as bad as people make out. He hasn't morphed into Superman ffs.
Meeja innit. Zero to hero and back again in 3 tabloid headlines. He was always a very good player and with summer rest he's been playing brilliantly (probably even better for France).

He's always had quality and has always been quality, he's been developing and now we are seeing his true worth. Anyone could tell he had talent, his ability is excellent, he's really a typical Wenger signing/player. Only he's now getting a more ruthless side to him and filling the gaps he had.

To be honest I never saw this form coming. He always had good technique but he seem to have very little else. Now he's using his technical ability. The feints and trickery to get passed his man, the ability to take the physical nature of the league, it makes a huge difference. I couldn't see anything special about him to be honest.

For example, what makes Ozil special are not just his technical attributes. It's that plus the the ability to use them to such devastating effect for one so young that is stunning.

So yeah nasri has really grown this season. I'd still like to see whether he can do consistently in the league or this is another robben.

His form is not so much a result of improvement technically (in fact I'd say it was nothing to do with it) but more due to his improvement off the ball, and some self belief. Wenger himself said Nasri was always 'attracted to the ball' and the club wanted him to improve his off the ball movement/running.

What I was most surprised about lately is his burst of acceleration and then his ability to maintain it.

Part and parcel of Redcafe I'm afraid, you wouldn't delete the thread if your predictions had been right, so it certainly won't be deleted now.

I think his form is down to him having more belief in himself, and being able to handle the league now. He doesn't get muscled off the ball like he used to and now he has the confidence to take the game by the scruff of the neck as opposed to earlier where as Boss said - he would ghost though games.

I'm willing to bet that most other clubs fans thought exactly the same about Nani. Technically brilliant yet not delivering enough. Diaby's another one who is technically excellent and could have a 'break out' year soon imo. He's clearly had something extra from being labelled the new zidane in france, his two goals against us at the emirates and his start to that season, 'that' goal in last years champions league etc.

As for Robben, wasn't he brilliant for chelsea when he was there? Injuries hampered him majorly though.

Diaby? There's a lot of potentially world class talent at Arsenal but he ain't one of them.

Robben was brilliant for around 18 months at Chelsea before the injuries started to kick in.

Yeah his first 18 at Chelsea he was unbelievable, had some scary stats as well.

Do people think Robben just turned shit for no reason after that period? Injuries ruined his career at Chelsea.

I obviously disagree. Technically very good, quick feet, capable of the spectacular, the signs are there that if he gets in the right frame of mind he'll be a very good player for them.

Very good yes, never world class though. He's being compared to Viera on some fronts, nowhere near his level.

No one in their right mind would compare him with Vieira, they're completely different players.

I want to say Diaby can't pass to save his life because it's true, but I'm sure he's going to become zidane if I do.

I'm really paranoid now, I'm sitting in my rocking chair patiently waiting for Nasri to fall off

As pogue said, the comparison comes from being black, tall and french. As Pogba has been rather than the talent at his disposal. He can get on the same level as our central midfielders bar Scholes imo, so yeah very good, probably not world class.

Yep , isn't that a bitch?

I'm hoping Berba or Nani can steal that mantle from him

A lot will depend what happens in the Arsenal game, Chelsea game and then the Arsenal v Chelsea game a week later to determine who gets player of the year imo. Two best players out of the top teams have been Nani and Nasri this year but as they're not big names they'll have to show it in the big games to win it.

Anyone else find the thread title so annoying that they conjure up a mental image of themselves shooting Boss in the face with an elephant gun, every time they see it?

Balls, forgot the huge media love in with Bale... throw him into the mix as well, as he'll probably win it if spurs finish top 4.

I'll gladly change it to the "Boss Makes Stupid Comment, Tries To Hide Evidence In 'Crybaby' Shocker".

Fair enough, but Nani was not a special player. You have to go out and perform. Simply having some talent is not enough. I'm not sure why everyone is on Boss' back (Jason in particular). Nasri's talent was good but he didn't look particularly special just a short while back.

Quote me on this redcafe. I'm going out on a limb here, what do they call it? Judgement calls. When you can see a players future, potential and life before it happens, you make a judgment call.

Despite whatever may happen, I want people to know I think he is shit, and to remind me if at some point (really impossible), he goes through some good form and I end up changing my mind again.

Obviously this won't happen, so don't worry about it, but if it ever did, let me know about it!!!!!
