Naby Keita

What actually happened here? He had such a forgettable career I can't even remember why exactly he was so shite. I think he was injured a lot but unsure if that was the sole reason.

Was universally regarded as an absolute steal for them at the time as well.

Very good in Austria, good in Germany then never settled in the premier league. A bit like Kagawa he came to the premier league and the goals and assists dried up, likely at least partly due to the difference in how his former and new team play. Somehow despite that he stayed at Liverpool for 5 or 6 years

Weird how he managed to win a PL, CL, FA Cup & Carabao in four season despite contributing very little.

Such a disappointing signing considering how hyped up he was.

I only remember seeing highlights of his Leipzig compilations and he looked insane — guy playing central midfield with the acceleration and carrying of a winger. Came to Liverpool and he was shite

Not that weird at all. Anderson won 5 Premier Leagues, the Champions League and a League Cup despite contributing very little. I'm sure there are plenty of other examples at clubs like Bayern.

True. City probably have a couple too.

His body began to disintegrate and he lost all confidence. The couple of times he managed to stay fit for a couple months and get some consistent game time he started getting his confidence back and was looking like the player Liverpool thought they were getting and he'd promptly pick up another injury and be out 2 months. Eventually even when fit he had so little confidence in his body he could barely run

Anderson scored a penalty in the UCL final shootout at least.

The most startling difference was how much tenacity he seemed to play with in Germany and the total absence of it for us.

That's what happens when you're worried that if you sprint you'll pull your hamstring...
