I can't believe they don't have two step verification on PSN. I know it has been rumoured. But should have been there two years ago.
Yeah. Im hoping they gave someone access to my account, then how can it possibly be my fault.
I'd have done the same as you; a charge back on my credit card. Screw my whole account if they want to make a fuss.
Unfortunately it was taken straight from PSN Credit.
So basically its best not to keep credit card details on psn?

Unforunately not, Christ 87 thought it had been done through paypal but it wasn't... I had loads of PSN creditDidn't you say it was done via PayPal? I'd get in touch with them, there customer support (as a buyer) has been first rate in my experience.
It doesn't seem like it...Does psn not have an additional password required to authorise payment/purchase? In my experience with say Microsoft, even if they logged in or gained access as me, they can't make a purchase without knowing a 6 digit code. It's an additional option you have to select alright though and not standard, I done it when I done the game sharing with a friend - in case he made an accidental purchase as me

I do use my card or PayPal, but after usually delete all info relating to them after, I'm now more likely to buy games off the US store now because it's cheaper so i buy US credits off some site that I can't think of right now.Does psn not have an additional password required to authorise payment/purchase? Off gamers but I look up to see which has the best conversion rates.cdkeys?
I actually bought them off of US Amazon last time.
I only started the US account over Christmas to buy the witcher because i could get it for something like 17 to 25 dollars compared to 40 to 50 euros at the time.Ages ago I had my Xbox set up to a foreign country and address and buy at their prices. Apparently Agrentina is a common one these days as it is fairly cheap. Can't be bothered with that anymore, with game sharing myself and a mate split the game cost 50/50, so I leave a secondary credit card on my Microsoft account and transfer funds when needed.

Edit - Thanks to the caf for all the sage wisdom and advice. If anyone is in the same situation, I recommend reading this link to see what you'll be going through:

When you back back into your account, make sure you check to see if a "child sub" account has been made as that is where the fraudulent purchase happened, and I couldn't even see it on my main account.
Nah wasn't a dead email address, I still use itSo an old AOL email was your sign in but you don't use it anymore? Chances are the email went dead, someone signed up with said email and got into the account that way, then most likely sold your details on. Maybe one of those buy a game for £10, just log into this account to play it type sites.
If it was a dead email account I advise everyone to never let an email account go dead until you've unsubscribed from everything and all accounts associated with that email have moved to a new one. Even then, still log into it every couple weeks for at least a year to ensure you're not receiving any emails there anymore.
Thanks for your recent contact regarding your Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) account.
I understand from our contact that you did not recognise some transactions on your account, and you reported these transactions as unauthorised. We do insist (an obligation outlined in our Terms of Service) that the SEN account holder is responsible for all activity and transactions made on their account.
Due to the nature of digital content, in that it is made available immediately and cannot be returned, we need to insist that the account holder take full responsibility for their account security.
As PlayStation Network has not been compromised, I can assure you that any information stored on our servers is secure. We would highly recommend that you change your account password to re-secure your account. The billing details have already been removed from your account, but our investigation showed that a third party may have accessed your account.
We cannot speculate on where this user log in information was obtained, but you may have fallen victim of some type of internet fraud, which includes practices such as phishing, brute force attacks, in-game scams, and gaining access to accounts using e-mail addresses and passwords from elsewhere.
I am happy to inform you that we've refunded to your SEN account wallet for these transactions, and that amount is now available for use.

I hope this helps, but if you have any other questions please contact PlayStation Support using the contact details below or by replying to this e-mail. Quote reference 160518-002790 and one of our team will be happy to help.
