Mourinho want Di Maria back

I think every summer we should re-sign one of our former players who left under a cloud.

2016 - Pogba
2017 - Di Maria
2018 - Van Persie
2019 - Bebe
Save the big one for 2020 and get Roy Keane back in.

2020 - Rooney.

It is lazy journalism. Same with Chicharito a few weeks back. If Mourinho and Pepe were best friends, journos would link him to us immediately

I would love to have him back.

LVG dropped him for Ashley Young for fecks sake. Do you think Ronaldo would stay after that?

LVG played boring rigid possession style football. Players had no freedom and that's why Di Maria was on the bench. He took chances and sometimes they didn't come off and LVG hated seeing us lose possession, even if it meant something amazing could happen.

You can't hate Di Maria for leaving. He wasn't getting playing time despite being the second highest assister in the league. He treated the club with respect afterwards so no animosity from me. He is a terrific player and lifted us up even when we were in a bad period.

I think he's wasted at PSG and would be a welcome addition to the squad.

While this is obviously bs, I would never welcome di Maria back. He's dead to me frankly. The way he treated and left the club was pathetic.

Well, #7 is still vacant. But hell no. He talked so much bad about us after leaving, went awol in preseason.. we don't need him near our club.

EDIT: Just googled his quotes, he took swipe at lvg, justified. But his antics weren't. But now it makes me think..

Easily the better player between him and Perisic. He's the kind of player that will just lift our attacking game, not sure how reliable this source is, but I wouldn't mind if it happens. Not too bothered about his age too, we're making very young signings, a 29 year old would add good experience to our squad.

We would never buy him back after his antics last time. Even if Jose wanted him, I suspect the board wouldn't allow it.

I thought Mou said he never should have been signed.
He said he never would have sold him.

Also Chicharito and Welbeck too.

Can't say I disagree with ADM and Chicharito but Welbeck was shit and still is. LVG shouldn't have sold those two and Rafael. You could argue Nani too. He was amazing in the Euros and would probably be better than most of our wingers now.

Rafael, Chicharito and Nani were proper United players. Their replacements Memphis, Martial and Darmian havent shown enough for me. They are not United players. They wouldn't stand out in midtable sides.

Bloody big risk to move back to Manchester. They have fictional burglaries there!

Can't see it happening but would happily take him back. He's a massive upgrade to the likes of Lingard and some others in our team imo. Would be great on the wing or in a midfield 3 against the fodder at OT.

Jesus Christ. This place.

Don't want him back anyway, he was pure shit here.

Even though I hate him for what he did to us, I would much rather see us spending 50m+ on a proven world class player like him than on an average guy like Perisic

Shit journalism. Stop the press, this is obviously pure lies.

This guy is just not up for the fight. He's hugely talented but he won't put in consistent performances over the entirety of the league season. No wonder he was benched for Ashley Young - some people forget his absolute garbage performances for us. Even if he was played out of position, this doesn't excuse just how poor he was at times. We don't need this poison in our dressing room.

All of this.

People forgetting having a good attitude and mentality is just as important as talent.

I completely agree with you mate, he was misused by LVG who had no clue what Di Maria's strengths were and I said earlier last season when we were dominating the likes of Stoke and Burnley and failing to win that a player like Di Maria is perfect for breaking down the parked bus at home and we could've done with him staying. If it's true then I hope we re-sign him instead of a unproven Perisic.

Was going to make a thread along the lines of all the players LvG sold (and bought) who would you most want back, He sold some good ones - Evra, Zaha, Keane, Hernandez, etc, but for me ADM is the one Jose would have wanted to be still here.

Well I find it ironic that we always defend him for being benched for Young even though this was our best period in this season, the period when we defeated Spurs, City and Liverpool with him setting on the bench for Young.

Since when did we play players based on their names not their effort ? And never compare Ronaldo's mentality and hard work to Di Maria.

I'm not going to argue about LvG but AdM was cack. Young out played him. Ronaldo might throw the odd strop but that's because he was is the world's best player and proves it on the pitch every game. What did AdM ever do at Manchester United?

I was a big fan of his him while he was here. I have not watch much of psg game last season. As such, I am not sure whether he is still good enough. However, I rather have him here over Perisic because he is a much better attacker.
Di Maria ⇔ Mhkitaryan - Martial
Morata

You're forgetting that we have Mourinho now. A manager who has already worked with Di Maria before and can get the best out of him. Yes he didn't play well at times but LVG over complicated things and restricted our flair players telling them not to shoot and refusing to allow them any freedom in the final third. You've seen how much herrera has improved this season and that's how I think Di Maria would also have improved had he stayed. He would have been perfect for us last season and I also think that he's a fergie player as well.

:lol::lol:
Imagine twitter and imagine redcafe if it happens, no one will know how to react.

I find all this transfer news hypothetical, but i think if there's one man who could get the best out of him, it's Jose.

Emanuele Giulianelli who broke the story, has linked us with Aubameyang a week ago, and with Higuain, Fabinho and Hazard last summer!

The Daily Star article described Giulianelli as "an Italian transfer guru", which gave me goosebumps!
