Mourinho doesn't play youngsters!!

Is 'teenagers' just Rashford in our case? Not complaining, just curious.

It'll be just down there with the rest when Rashford turns 20

It's kinda bullshit though, young players are players generally under 23 and I'd say if it actually was that we'd be nowhere near Spurs or City.

Thought Batshuayi had some minutes, which he does, but he's 23. Thought he was Rashford's age.

Well Pogba only just turned 24. Would you have counted it as 23 and under or only under 23?

Really happy to see him go with Rashford and Lingard. I thought Shaw was on the express train to redemption, but he's only on the fast one.

He doesnt trust them simple, you can spin shit as much you want but at the end he is still "if you are old enough, you are good enough" guy.

Lingard's 24. Doesn't really count.
I know and I understand your point. However in the eyes of some (and mine, since he's an academy graduate) he is still youngster and a lot of people criticize him. I think he's been improving a lot throughout the season and is cementing a place as Mourinho's trusted men.

He doesn't play youngsters for the same of playing youngsters. If the player is good enough, they will play.

Very telling that Mourinho brought TFM on for the last few minutes instead of Blind. I know it the primary idea was run down the clock but he could have gone for Blinds experience but chose TFMs attributes instead. Hopefully will see more of him now.

I bet some of you are the ones who shouted most loudly,.... lvg only played rashford up top because of injury blah blah... but now declare that yesterday was a grand tactical masterplan by jose to play 2 young lads up top....completely ignoring the fact that zlatan would have started if he hadnt declared himself too tired.
Tbh I dont really care how we come up with a winning formula ,but the double standards by some is ridiculous.
It was a very good win , but the proof will be in joses future team selections. Imo 2 up top is the way to go when you're a team struggling for goals.

What, the mourinho Cynicism is laughable on the analysis. We have never selected a single defensive side this season. Man united always play to attack. If zlatan was any faster and Martial or lingard followed the instructions as before we would have scored a lots of goals .

If you go for under 23s I'm sure it'd look a lot different.

The only teenager featuring for us this season is Rashford really.

I don't think it was that telling at all. He went on for Young into a wing position where Fosu Mensah is one of the quickest players in the team whilst Blind is the slowest.

I think I may have posted my reply above in the wrong thread as it has no bearing on the youth argument :)

Myth died...

Seriously, if the youngster is good enough, Mourinho will play them.

By good, I meant if he can deliver, put fighting effort and follow instructions like Rashford.

Myth died ,this is amazing. If he was our manager last season, there wouldnt be Rashford the Manchester United first team player. Like feck he would give him debut and then show trust in him after. TFM is another one who is talked about before JM became our manager, this season he could hell a lot of minutes but not in JM world.

Guy sees only negative side of trusting youngsters and also due him being most 3 years at same club,he cares about his own interest first and not what might be a gain for the club in long term.

Myth died indeed...dear lord.

This is a better stat, IMO.
And it shows that although we are not up there with Spurs, we are well ahead of most the other teams, when it comes to using youth.

The other thing to note is that if you want to win the league title these days, you need to use players in their prime.
This season Conte is using prime players. Almost all players are over 23. He is leading the league.
Last season LCFC used prime players. They won the league.

Perhaps the days of using youngsters to win a league are gone?
And given the above, I expect Jose to use less U23 players are give more minutes to players in their prime, as he attempts to win the league next season.

Whatever the stats are just about Rashford or not, it proves that other managers aren't really obsessed with playing teenagers and youngsters and trying them too much , too so why should we differ from them ?

No manager in the PL top 6 give youngsters a chance anymore. Too much pressure.

LVG did the hard part with Rashford.

Most PL managers just dump youngsters out on loan and hope for the best.

I don't really like this stat in a way. It can be misleading. Some players u23 are purchased for big money and are already established players.

Then the debate would be what is considered as big money.
