Most inaccurate player comparisons you've heard

Zirkzee and Fellaini was a great one on here recently, followed by a comment about not being able to trust anyone with an afro.

Christian Eriksen and Michael Laudrup

Mbappe is said to 'be a million miles off' Thierry Henry, despite scoring three fewer goals for France thus far, in roughly the same position sans Zidane. Henry had played 39 more games, at the time of writing.

Crazy how many people want to shit on Mbappe, and have a rose-tinted view of the noughties era, based on what marketing they consumed at the time.

Bellingham and Pogba. Ive read a few times on here
Bellion and Henry
Phil Jones and Duncan Edwards
Mikael Madar and Eric Cantona

N'golo Kante and Nampalys Mendy.

When Leicester won the league and sold Kante, it was mentioned by a decent number of people in the media that they have signed a Kante replacement in Nampalys Mendy. Not only was the quality difference quite stark, but stylistically quite different too. You can pretty much guess why the comparisons even began.

Similar to the Son and Park one.

I think it was Tommy Docherty who compared Kagawa to Park when he first started playing for United.

I think strikers scored less in general for their NTs than the last 10 or so years. Even someone like Mitrovic, a good but not great player will probably end up with 70+goals for Serbia. Lukaku could hit 100. Morata, again pretty average, will be nearing Spain's top scorers of all time in a worse team. They're decent players but I don't think that happens 20 years ago. There are exceptions of course, like you'd probably expect Mandzukic to have outstripped Suker with that trend but I think it largely holds.

Andy Carroll and a horse.

Oh sorry, I thought this was the “accurate comparison thread”
