Most Improved/Regressed Player 22/23 Predictions

Most improved? Without a shadow of a doubt that has to be Maguirre. If he keeps performing like last season he might well find himself dropping down a couple of divisions. I doubt we have the funds to replace him, so he will probably play quite often. I fully expect a solid coaching team to at least make him a capable defender at this level. He can hardly be worse than last season and therefore has the most potential for improvement.

I also expect to see a lot more from Sancho, he s a systems player who will now play under a very good systems coach - that can get very exciting, very quickly.

If any one of our players regress, then I expect ten Hag to take a long hard look at our coaching setup again, because we were absolute rubbish last season. It really isn't acceptable to see regression from anyone.

Yeah I’m pretty confident on all three. It’s the injury-prone players (Martial, Rashford, Shaw, Varane) that I think will struggle.

I’m not so sure about this.

The chances of his suddenly becoming more proactive and coming off his line are certainly pretty slim, but I think his distribution will improve massively, and straight from the off. Constantly losing possession by hoofing it long only started under Jose; simply telling him not to do that would be a big start.

In the compilation of training vids that United Peoples TV has assembled (posted in the ETH thread, I think), the presenter comments on De Gea being involved in the passing drills. So EtH must believe he’s worth working on.

I hope you’re right. To be honest, I was struggling to think of anyone that could get worse than last year and DDG or CR were the only ones and I think CR will just be similar again. Goals, Goals, goals..

My money’s on CR playing fewer games next season but scoring more.

I don’t think it was a coincidence that he really kicked on once we were down to one game a week.

Bruno will have improved a lot or be benched.

I think Fred might thrive, hard to tell.

Sancho should be a winner.

I have a feeling that Ten Hag is going to love having Fred in the side. Also

Maguire & Rashford can't but improve.

I think the conditions are right for De Gea to struggle.

Maguire and McTominay for most improved. I think the entire team will play better and more effectively with proper coaching. I can’t see anyone regressing.

Interesting thread, and something I've been thinking about lately.

Most improved could be one of many for me, and depends on how we will set up under ETH. I'm going to go with Varane, Shaw, Maguire and Rashford for most improved, simply for the fact that they've performed to high levels previously.

If I was ETH that would be my focus. How can he get the guys current performing at maybe 50% of their ability to performing close to 100%. That would be a priority for me, as it would have the most impact on our team performances.

For most regressed, I'm going to call McTominay and AWB. They seem like complete square pegs in a round hole with the type of football ETH wants to play.

Just as another note, I'm going put Martial as my wildcard, or one to watch, this season. There's a player in there, I'm sure of it. Can ETH get him going again? I think it will be interesting to see how he approaches that.
