Most depressing movies...

Although it isn't a movie and it is my favorite show, I find the overarching them of the Sopranos to be somewhat depressing, any thoughts?

Whenever I want to feel like complete shit I watch Sympathy for Mr Vengeance

The Sixth Sense
Awakenings
Mystic River
Changeling
The Hours
Grave of The Fireflies
El Orfanato

I thought The Pianist was quite depressing. I got my mate to watch all 6 Rocky films and in return I had to watch The Pianist and I think he got the better deal.

Requiem for a Dream, Leaving Las Vegas, Lilja 4-Ever and Grave of the Fireflies.

I watched a Slovenian film called 'Call Girl' recently. Or Slovenian Call Girl - That was really depressive.

Requiem for a Dream is depressingly brilliant

21 Grams

Lorenzo's Oil

two movies were the theatre usher should kick you in the nuts before the movie starts in order to compensate the drama you are about to watch

2005 Champions league final DVD.

its just the way it lulls you into a false sense of joy and happiness before the depression starts.

 sammy.

There's a film called The Beautiful Country, definitely in with a shout if anyone's seen it.

Breaking the Waves

Good call.
Dancer in the Dark, another one by Lars von Trier is really depressing. Come to think of it many Scandinavian movies are quite depressing.

I agree with Come and See (Idi i smotri), Kes, Breaking the Waves and When the Wind Blows.

I'd like to add Lilja 4-ever and The Pledge. They made me feel ill with despair, and I never want to see them again, although I think they were great films.
