theres a new one coming out, I'm led to believe.

I'm no expert on games etc, but have always loved the characters and vibe of this game.

Anyone else clued up on this?

I heard it's going to be a TV series or made for TV movie. Some stupid deal like that.

I have the demo on the PS3. It almost feels archaic, though, what with the way the characters jump.

There is some chick character with an awesome rack and demoic zombie face. I want to bang it.

I'd love it to be a great game, but I'm skeptical because they've all been rubbish since MK3

But I liked this

I think its going to be pretty good, they're going back to basics but in 3d like Capcom did with SFIV.

Legendary game.

Went shit.

Unfortionately, this.

I started playing it properlly with MK2 for the mega drive, and baught the original soon after. MK3 was fantastic, but sadly after that the franchise seemed to go downhill. I've been waiting for a decent revival for some time now, that is what interests me about this game.

I guess I like the dark nature of this beat 'em up. All the others - Tekken, Dynasty warriors etc - seem to be rather up beat.

Been waiting for this game since the announced the making of it before PS3 came out.

The demo is great. Like it way better than my Street Fighter IV and it's only a demo.

They're making a new movie too, and this guy Kevin Tancharoen (who directed "Fame") is a huge fan of the series, so he directed a short movie as a pitch to the studio to allow him to make the movie, on a very low budget and with some help from some of his friends:

A bit cool, considering the low budget and the fact that it was made with the help of favors from his friends.

I loved the Mortal Kombat movies for the same reason I loved the Street Fighter movie.

That actually looks ace :nervous:

Nope. People wanted another movie so they made this trailer as a proposal to WB and to get the fans on board.

In June 2010, a seven-minute short, titled Mortal Kombat: Rebirth, was created and posted on the Internet as an unofficial test shoot that served as a push for an R-rated version of the film. Directed by Kevin Tancharoen, the clip starred Michael Jai White as Jax (depicted therein as a police detective) and Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade, with other characters such as Reptile, Scorpion, Johnny Cage and Baraka making appearances.[16]
It is believed[who?] however that the 2010 7 minute short film has no connection with the franchise of MK,[citation needed] and was simply a short film made by a 3rd party to prove that MK can be transformed into a more adult film. To date this has been fobbed off by the studios and there is no plans to follow this concept into a new MK movie. However, speculation an popularity of the short film shows that this concept has merit and maybe proof enough of concept that a studio may one day make a 3rd instalment to the MK movie series.

Is the demo only out for PS3?

When did it come out and when is it out for the Xbox?

I can't find it. :(

Ahhh, brings back memories of the Mortal Kombat 2 on the Megadrive. I remember laughing my head off at that!
You're in the middle of a fight, tensions are high and then in the background a head pops out from behind a tree "Toasty"

Scorpion had a toasty fatality too, if I recall correctly.

No idea. Just know it's there for PS3. For two weeks at least.

I have a USA account that I use solely to dl demos. Nothing's accessible via an Icelandic one and I use a UK for online gaming.

The above mention "fake trailer" has been turned into a web series. Same name. Mortal Kombat: Legacy

Also if you check the machinima youtube channel episode 2 of Legacy was released. Its better than the first episode, which is good.

Its a youtube mini-series now, ironically the first episode of it was released the day before your post ;)

I suppose it didn't get enough love from the Studios, a shame. Because it certainly looked good, better than the stinking pile of camel piss that was MK Annihilation which made Raven look and seem gay...

I have my copy sitting in front of me at my desk at work.

I can not freakin' wait to play it!

I have it also. Not too fussed really. With each bad installment my expectations seem to go up, subconsciously thinking Activision should make it up to me with the GOAT. Alas, I have given up on that dream

did you play the demo? it was ace. Reviews have been very positive too.

Yeah must admit, played the demo and gave it all a look over and I wasnt impressed at first. But in the end I played the demo a lot and reading the boards and reviews, watching lots of youtube videos it looks fantastic.

The vast majority of the characters from the MK series, the few who arent in are suggested to be made dlc - though not everyone is going to want to pay/download them. The challenge tower looks interesting. Its supposed to be content heavy for a fighter which is very good as usually fighters seem a bit limited to me hence I wasnt going to buy this till it went way down in price at first.

But the main reason I ended up pre-ordering is the story mode. Proper story for the first 3 Mortal Kombats I hear. A retelling of the story and cutscenes that connect all the parts together instead of the normal Mortal Kombat style where you start off with no story do a bunch of fights then get a small ending scene or prologue. I've read a lot of people have been surprised with the quality of the story mode

I bought Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, and alas like all of these games, the story mode is awful.

I love the games, but a decent story mode would be a big plus, may have to check it out.

So did anyone get this yet? My pre-order didnt come so I cant give out any impressions yet. Would be interested to know if its as good as some people are saying

OohI remember playing this as a kid, when it first came out, I think. It was a more gory version of Street Fighter. Learning to do the super-death moves at the end were what made it cool. Plus when one of the fighters (the yellow one) used to do that thing where he dragged the other person over with some device and said 'Get over here!!'. That was amusing.

Reviews sound bad.

I really thought this would be the return to form of the legendary series.

Mmm, the gamespot video review (the only one saw) makes it look awesome in fact.

I've been playing this non-stop today.

It is literally incredible.
