Never really listened to death metal, but the name itself sounds depressing.

Anyways I used to hate death metal earlier and thought it wasn't music aswell but the more i started to listen,the more I got hooked on to it.I like all genres.Its some songs I dont like if they are not good.How the fck can one say that a whole genre is shit?

You need to actually listen to the music, all the layers not just what's in your face. There are some bands that are torrid and poor excuses for music but many of them are very technical and only a trained ear can pick up on the subtleties.
I suggest you listen to a few Opeth songs to get a good idea of what death metal really is. If you are interested just let me know I can give you some good song titles to have a listen too.
You'd be surprised. Most of the original metal bands from the 80's still have strong followings among the younger crowd. Just look at Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Slayer etc.. They are certianly going to last a damn sight longer than Britney Spears, or Fall Out Boy etc.
Exactly, there are many bands that are utter shite, but labelling an entire genre bad because of a couple of bands is just ignorant.
It's like judging a book by it's cover, or letting one or two bad apples ruin the barrel. I can't think of any more cliches right now lol but when I do I'll post them:P
All music has shit at the forefront of the genre. You have to dig deep to find the real gems, plus there are so many sub-genres in metal, it's easy to just lump it all together and label it shit.
I watched that documentary Metal: A Headbanger's Journey. Even though I'm not a big fan of metal it was really interesting.

Metal as a genre is fantastic, and Death Metal can be very varied. Some bands, Cannibal Corpse, are amazingly talented at each of their instruments, but the lyrics are very difficult to understand.

They are playing really good, technical metal with strong riffs and great drum parts.

Some may like Death metal, some may hate it but I hope we can all agree that more thought and technical prowess are needed to create it than bloody Britney or fiddy cent.

But still... After Chuck Shuldiner's death, this music genre had a very big crisis.
Many "moronic" new bands with pseudo satanic ideas entered and destroyed a good, old death metal style.
But still there are great bands to listen and I'm very happy that Cannibal Corpse still murdering the music.
The guy behind it is actually working on a follow up documentary. I expect it will be quite good as well.

I find Death Metal itself mind dumbingly boring. Even the so called elite bands like Death or Morbid Angel do nowt for me.
Even worse however is "melodic" DM, a scene populated by godawful shite like Iced Earth, In Flames, Chiidren of Bodom (worse band in the world ever imo) et al. Gayer than emo and usually played by Scandinavians.

I'm not saying these are staple marks of being in a great band...obviously what it comes down too is if these things serve the song.
And it most cases they do, but if your not liking death metal now, im not going to begin to suggest it is something you will be turned on to.
but my point was don't call them morons when it takes a lot of hard work and dedication plus a fair amount of intelligence to be able to do the thingsdeath metal instrumentalists do.
