Mohamed Diame

I've always advocated Luiz had the potential to be a great defensive mid-fielder. I'm shocked he has not been accommodated in that position prior to yesterdays game. He has more talent in his finger nails than Mikel.

Apparently he has... It was news to me too though (check the Luiz thread).

QPR have made a bid. Don't know if it is big enough to activate that release clause but either way you'd expect bigger clubs to come in and make a bid as I doubt that Diame would want to go there.

Would be a good buy for QPR but backwards move for Diame. Should stay at West Ham and push for a top half finish and then leave in the summer if that's what he's aiming for.

Nice pay rise and a relegation release clause or set fee release.

Doesn't seem to make sense from a QPR point of view. They need results immediately and he's going to be out for a while yet. Different manager, same daft transfer policy.

Well I for one would be delighted if United signed Diame, I can't believe we wouldn't be interested at under £5m; tell QPR to feck off and get the cheque book out, Frogson!

He's been quality whenever I've seen him. Would improve our midfield options, and would not cost much.

I'm fairly sure I read that we were interested at one point but got put off by his heart condition.

You remember rightly; we were apparently interested in the summer. His heart condition hasn't posed too much of a problem to his development thus far though. IIRC it was West Ham who themselves were put off signing Demba Ba before Newcastle got their hands on him on account of his potentially problematic knee issue; it goes to show that sometimes risks should be taken if the price is right, and in regards to Diame the price couldn't be more attractive.

Ba was at West Ham but had a clause in his contract that meant he could levae for free if they were relegated.

Stoke were put off signing him as Pulis described his knee as a 'ticking time-bomb'.

At a low fee like that it couldn't really go wrong. Worst case scenario we pay a couple of million for a Carrick back-up and we're finally able to rest him in easier games so that he can go full force against bigger sides with no fatigue holding him back. Currently we don't have a single player capable of playing defensive midfielder role except for Carrick (put Jones in defence where he belongs).

We never seem to sign obvious shit players like Diame. Our scouting team will have no doubt have found some shit player from some far flung corner of the globe for us this January.

Diame is supposed to have a heart condition, and has to have a defribulator at pitch side at all matches.

Not sure if that's worth a punt.

Except that he plays nothing like Carrick these days.I mean have you even watched him in the last 2-3 years ?

How come no club is signing him? If it's true regarding the £3M clause. Would be a very good signing for most clubs.

I still don't understand how a player like him didn't interest better teams than West Ham.He's not the most consistent that's for sure but he's very good on his day

I read that he has/had some type of heart problem because of which bigger teams stayed away from him. Not sure though.

I know I don't see the smaller taking a risk with his life if his heart condition is really that much of an issue.Like Loic Rémy who failed his first medical visit when he signed for Marseille due to a heart defect they found in him, there serious concerns about him retiring from football altogether but fortunately for him, it didn't happen.
Maybe you guys are right, it's something certain clubs don't even wanna risk, then again between the top 8 and West Ham, there is a middle ground.
