Tbh...he's exactly the kind of player any team needs .Exactly the type of player we need
Did you deliberately ignore @AlexUTD mentioning two other young players (who both cost a lot of money) who would also be impacted by Modric joining? Its not Top Red stuff to be concerned about a 32 year old player taking minutes from 3 players 25 and under.
33 in september and will demand high wages. I'd take him but we can't even get a right winger or proper fullbacks so i'd rather see we spend some money on those positions.
Id fully agree with you.
However the questions begs, there is not an endless pit of cash for us to finance our purchases, I can appreciate that.
There is an opportunity cost to consider when making a purchase.
However if we managed our assets better and flogged some of the Deadwood in this instance especially fellani, it would have made some transfer funds and wages available to perhaps make this deal possible.
I'm not suggesting selling fellani would have financed the whole deal, but it would have made a considerable dent.
Probably all media speculation anyway, can't see Modric moving. If he does we should be all over it though. However I'd agree with you, not if it would financially prevent us amending more pressing concerns.
Fellaini was running out his contract so that would have only freed up some wages. I think we have enough money to buy Modric and two more players if we sell some players like Rojo and Darmian but apparently there aren't any good RW/CB players or they're not worth the money and I doubt CM is a priority for Mourinho right now.
Some people like to ignore important points in a discussion that would make their points less valid mate.
Relative to his other seasons, he didn’t have a Great one. Howeve, He only played 19 times, averaging only 38 minutes per game and scored once. It was partly due to the fact that Jose often insisted playing him as a striker, where he really excells in his current midfield role. He got a pretty big 33% of the vote for worst signing !
I think the joke was that he was voted a worse signing than Alex Song, who played a lot more than him and contributed much less. I think this label hung over him for the next 2 or 3 seasons, even though he vastly improved in this time, until he became a mainstay.
Why? If we offer the same as Inter they would surely accept or reject both? Neither are league rivals. The price will be double for us, it's a non starter.
Surely that's a joke? And take a spot in the team from Fred, Pogba or Pereira? No thanks.

You joker, you.And take a spot in the team from Fred, Pogba or Pereira? No thanks.
Can’t see him wanting to work with Mourinho again or Real Madrid selling to us.
Inter could work, he’d be a short ride over from Split and in the same team with a bunch of Croatians.
Can only read through this thread with incredulity at anyone who supports Manchester United saying they wouldn't want Modric here, no matter the reason given.
I'd possibly understand if we were thriving in that area. Possibly.
After playing for spurs I can’t see Modric returning to the premier league to play for us. Would love him here as he is a player that would propel us up the table, even aged 32 we could get a few good seasons from him.
I saw an "evening with Cantona" at the Lowry Theatre the year before last. Asked by the audience who was the best player in the world, Cantona said Modric. He called Modric beautiful and the best playmaker and conductor of an offence that he had ever seen.
If Modric was playing for France that day and Pogba for Croatia do you think he would still 'come out on top'? Much deluded...3. We already own one of the next-best creative CMs in the world, Pogba. He's 25 with room to grow. He faced up against Modric's midfield in the WC final and came out on top.
