Mockney's Video Diary - Brazil 2014

I'll have you know I've worn one pair of socks the whole time I've been out here.

I'm saving my butler the load. It's the little things that show you care.

Sorry, late to some answers. I'm mostly checking this on my phone, the internet in Brazil is largely awful and I'm 5 hours behind you lot.

1:03:20 in: They said the band aren't going and 'it looks like FIFA have banned the band'.

Well they're here. As you can see. Unless they're a tribuete band? Good God the thought doesn't bare thinking!

thanks a lot mockney, excellent vid, keep them coming

was the temperature un manaos an issue?

cheers

Not as much as expected. There were quite a lot of water breaks every goal/sub/injury, but no one was in distress. We noticeably flagged towards the end, but that was in part due to our high tempo game. Italy didn't 'cos they conserved better. None of the Manaus games are played before 6 (11 GMT) either, so I'm sure it'll be fine. It's hot, but it's not Saharah hot. I'm in Sao Paolo now and it's actually a bit chilly. It was raining when I got here!

2.58 was that Chris Kamara?

Yes. I think I styled it out......:nervous:

Trying desperately to string a sentence together whilst hungover to feck.

OP updated too.

The girl was actually annoyed that I hadn't paid the 2 Brazilian Reals she was charging people to have photos with her. She was then groped a couple of minutes later and me and the guy I was with ended up stepping in and acting as her friends. So alls well in the world of not being sexist.

You'll all probably be pleased to hear the weathers been shit for the last couple of days too...You know, just in case you were getting too jealous.

Well, the best scenes are never on camera, are they?:smirk:

Can you please tell me what is the opening song in the first vid, the live latin jazz tune? Sounds like a great song to play on Sunday mornings.

Nice one Mocks. Agree on the your post-Uruguay thoughts for sure.....this definitely feels like a "better" exit than previous tournaments however odd that is to say, and even maybe 2006 too, despite the fact you couldn't get to go a knockout game. The performances weren't diabolically bad and boring on top of that. Just a shame really. I think you've definitely got more moments to talk about from these 2 games alone than the previous 10 or so tournament games. Owen-Brazil/Becks-Argentina probably the last thing that comes to mind that are actually more memorable goals than the two this time.

Hope they reward the fans with a performance against Costa Rica too, you travelling fans deserve it big time, don't think you truly booed or slated them off(i think, not really sure)....fair play.

Agree about the moments bit. Like when Evra scored vs Bayern, you could tell we wouldn't hold on but those 30 seconds were great.

Yeah. That's how I philosophically look back on our 2011 Champions League final with Barca too. Rooney's equaliser in the biggest club game in the world was a great moment to savour. And at least I got to see Messi tear someone up. Something to tell the grandkids about. Just a shame it was us.

@Mockney have been trying to watch this all day but, as you know, 3g in Brazil is crap.

It was a good game and England fans were a good laugh both before the game and later at Vila Madalena (where I assume this flag-assed lady was).

Good luck with the third game. Belo Horizonte should be less advantageous for Costa Rica (not taking anything away from them).

At the very least you should be lookinhg forward to Hodgson trialing a post-Gerrard/Lampard side. New beginnings.

Alright mate. Did you notice the Mexican waving neutrals again!? Yeah the fans were great. There was no animosity considering how much of a flying supercunt your match winner is (I'm not bitter, as you can tell!) South Americans in general seem to have the whole passionate fun support thing down, and have been a great laugh the whole time. There's one chant in particular you've all been doing (something Brazilleeerrro?) which is basically ubiquitous here. Makes an atmos at any rate. The Chileans have been my favorite, and absolutely non-stop! They were out on the Copa till 5 in the morning out-chanting the Brazilians the night before their game with Spain.

Though tbf, I think this lad took his support of Suarez's racism a little far ;)

Yeah, the Mexican wave kept getting cut down on either cat 3 side.

I saw that "maracana phantom" as well. Where were you? I was in M 636 I think.

The song you are referring to goes: Ooooooh sou brasileiro... com muito orgulho.... com muito amooooor" (i'm brazilian, with much pride and love").

Enjoying the beach in Pipa and looking fwd to Tuesday. Let's see what that ubercunt can do, eh?

Damn fecking straight!

I was in 409. Near the corner flag by the English end, and I had some mates in 614. I was worried for anyone high up in those half finished stands! We all thought it was gonna piss it down. Stewarding was a joke again. But I quite like that.

I love the complete lack of stewarding. I went to various parts of the stadium to catch up with mates before the game and at HT. Awesome self-regulating :D

Brazilian music is just sublime.

And that unofficial anthem you mention the crowds singing in the stadiums really gives me epic shivers.

Relatively minor interesting fact. If you've ever seen The Life Aquatic, he's the crew mate playing acoustic David Bowie songs in Portuguese.

Thanks for the nice vid! Such a coincidence I just saw Grand Budapest Hotel last week. Serious yet comical.
Yes I saw The Life Aquatic quite a while ago on DVD but strangely don't remember much about it. Star Man is another nice Bowie song to sing with the guitar. B-flat with open top E string, Fmaj7...

Awesome, better than Ukraine. I'll give you a couple of complimentary likes.

Dunno. But the lingo is "do you want a programme?"

I'm in Belo Horizonte now. It's like a sort of Brazilian Sheffield.
