MLB Playoffs

I wasnt watching, so I cant really say anything but some umpires call stuff on the outside and some on the inside it is up to the players to take note of it, the strike changes depending on umpires in case you hadnt noticed, not a ton but it is a fact of the game. As for the call at 1st that was just an awful call

It was half a stride, a bad call, McCarver knew immediately and he is sitting in the press box

LOL...half a stride.....my stride is around 12-14 feet when running flat out...his foot was six inches off the plate.

Eva Longoria > Evan Longoria

fecking A, Upton can fecking run

he is pretty damned fast....in the outfield he has a long lazy stride but he covers some ground. Has a rocket for an arm as well.

The Rays have played like shite for the last 6 games......they need to get some momentum going.

The Philies should win it here, any bunt or hit will do it

Philies take Game 3

2-1 Philadelphia in the Series

Seems kind of bizarre saying it but the Rays are under achieving in the WS.

I think the American League is so superior these days that some teams who reach the WS from the junior circuit have had to peak too early to perform once they get there. The Tigers lost to a vastly inferior team in 06 and we may be seeing a re-run here.

This Philly team wouldn`t have reached the play-offs If they were an American League outfit and yet here they are just a couple of games away from winning it all.

Pretty much agree with that. The Rays and Sox are both better than Philly IMO.

having said that props to them for stepping up when it matters. Tonight is critical in this series.

AL teams also have a big advantage in home games as they have built a team with a DH which gives them another bat in the lineup, one which the NL teams can't reproduce. When the games are played at NL stadiums it's pretty much a wash as most pitchers are crap hitters

Yeah horrible call, although mjs will say something like the game is too fast as he did when the ump missed the 1st base call the night before. The guy should have gone for the double at 2nd and 1st though.

Howard seems to have woken up as well, wouldnt surprise if he hits another one out tonite

Phillies WS to lose now, I'm kinda hoping it goes to atleast 6, hell even get it back to Tampa. But if the Rays cant get Longoria or Pena atleast hitting the ball then they are fecked anyway.

Sad end to a great season for the Rays. The team that have played the last six games is nothing like the team I have watched all year. A mixture of fatigue, inexperience and nerves seems to be holding them back. Props to the Phillies (just been sick in my mouth typing that) they came to the WS better prepared.

One last chance tonight. IF they could somehow find a way to win and get it back to Tampa the momentum could shift dramatically.

The Rays should be stronger next year though......its only the beginning for this team.

Is it feck. They`ve choked when they needed it the most. The Red Sox are miles better than the Phillies so wtf else is it. The Rays wont make the playoffs next year. This will leave too many scars.

Here is the thing....one was right IN FRONT of the umpire at relatively slow speed, and the other was on the BLIND SIDE at full speed.....oh yes and it was fielded in his bare hand so there wasn't the usual thud that the umpires rely on so much.

Well at least the TV crew are noticing the disparity between the strike zone for the two teams. We have seen several bad balls called good for the Phillies, and good balls called bad for the Rays.

They have got to be consistent for both teams. The technology is there, take the decision away from the umps.

Won't happen but perhaps they should move the game to Washington or Atlanta, both NL parks and along the way to Tampa, finish game 5, and then go to Tampa if necessary. I know that's odd and crazy talk but this weather may not leave PA for a while.

clear blue skies down here in Wash. DC.
tis cold mind, but not so cold that the brass monkey has to look for a welder yet.

Phillies have won! haha mjs!

I expect massive rioting in Philly tonite
