MLB 2023

I recently read chatter online and heard on TV about probable expansion in the coming years. I think 32 teams would be proper, would also help balance some scheduling and even better geographic alignment.

Did some digging online, below are the cities that appear to top the list of expansion locations. Only two expansion clubs will be admitted.
Charlotte, Las Vegas, Mexico City, Montreal, Nashville, New Orleans, Orlando, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Antonio, Vancouver

Can't see Orlando or Vancouver in any scenario, the former would be crushed by fervent opposition from Atlanta, Miami, and Tampa.
San Antonio would suffer similar to Orlando - Houston and Texas would fight hard against imo.
Can't see Mexico City as an option, don't think MLB is ready to expand into Mexico for numerous reasons.
Don't think Montreal should get a second club but MLB may see differently.
Can't see New Orleans getting ahead of the remaining options.
Both Portland and Salt Lake City are intriguing options and would also help ensure proper western geographical alignment.

Vegas is the outlier as they may pull the A's to town which would take them off the list obviously. But per say the A's drag along when the bidding is ongoing, Vegas may well be the leading candidate. I'd say Nashville would then edge ahead of Charlotte for the second spot. Ideally, the A's g.tfo of Oakland to Vegas (or Portland or SLC).

32 Team Alignment
AL East: Baltimore, Boston, New York, Toronto
AL North: Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Minnesota
AL South: Houston, Kansas City, Tampa, Texas
AL West: Athletics, Los Angeles, Seattle, expansion-Portland/SLC/Vegas
NL East: New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington
NL North: Chicago, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, St Louis
NL South: Atlanta, Colorado, Miami, expansion-Charlotte/Nashville
NL West: Arizona, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco

If Montreal, toss them in the NL North and move St Louis to NL South. If western expansion, obviously placed in the AL West. However, if MLB were to take a central/eastern expansion along with Montreal, either put them in the AL South with KC to the AL West, or perhaps move Colorado to the AL West but that would be two expansion clubs in the NL, better with one in each league imo.

No clue how long that took you to do, but thanks for the effort!

fecking great post. All that matters though is BEAT LA!

The first second Congrats video by Tree in the MLB playoffs. You shit the bed really hard if you end up in a Congrats video.

Rangers v Cheaters in 35 minutes.
Montgomery v Verlander
Montgomery was the only deadline acquisition that appears to have worked out for Texas, and he has been their best starter since. Had a great start against Tampa but sucked against Baltimore. If he can do well tonight they'll have a shot because Verlander has pitched mostly well for Houston in the postseason and had a good start against Minnesota.

Typical stRangers. Montgomery has to come up big again or they're likely going out in six. Would be crazy if the road team were to win every game.

Rangers bullpen is still a dumpster fire.

Gutsy win by the Astros. This is a great series.

I was worried in the 8th that Leclerc was gonna blow another game. And a little justice for Garcia in the 9th. It's all for naught if they lose tonight.

This is the second time a 7-game series has got to game 7 with the road team winning all games - 2019 World Series when Washington beat Houston winning game 7 on the road.

Bloody hell, Texas have come flying out of the blocks here. Decent response by the Astros. It already has the makings of a crazy game 7.

Texas-sized ass whoopin.

Philly v Texas is a tasty matchup. Arizona v Texas seems bizarre in print, could also be one of those nutty barely made the postseason few games above .500 teams that defies all odds.

The Phillies are playing a game 7 for the first time in their 141 year history. Quite a remarkable stat.

I'm rooting for them, but Phillies fans have been giving it large about their stadium being hostile and loud all through the postseason, yet one bad inning last night turned it into a morgue. If they go behind tonight, it's gonna get ugly.

Astros, my beloved :(

They had a good run to be fair. A really, really good run. Post cheating scandal, I think they’ve been to 4 consecutive ALCS’ and 2 WS’. Dusty steadied a very very rocky ship in the aftermath and he’s been brilliant. Glad he finally won the WS as manager. Wish him the best whatever he chooses to do next.

Who would have called a Rangers/Dbacks World Series before the playoffs, let alone before the season?

Should be fun!

Glad Dusty got his ring, and glad also that he's retiring. He was the right man for the job post-scandal, but his game (and roster) management has been questionable this season, coming to a head in Game 7. So long and thanks for taking the job when we needed leadership the most.

Happy for the snakes to get in the WS!
