Manchester United monitor Roma striker Mirko Vucinic
From the Sunday Mirror

Roma striker Mirko Vucinic has been given an even bigger incentive to repeat his Champions League heroics against Manchester United this week - it could win him a possible move to Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been monitoring the Montenegro star since he came on as a sub to score against United last season. United have been made aware of a registration dispute between Roma and his former club Lecce.

Roma claim they sealed a £5m deal with Lecce in the summer after taking him on loan last season. The row could open the door for United to step in.

He's got an average goalscoring record for a striker. Least if Wikipedia is right.

I regularly watch Italian football and have seen a lot of Roma this season. Mirko Vucinic would not be a good signing in my opinion. He was especially poor earlier on in the season and went on a huge goal-scoring drought. However, recently his performances have improved considerably and though his goal rate is still poor...his work rate and link up play has impressed. Not a great finisher and nothing special in my view.

Much, much rather see a youngster get a few games, especially considering we have Campbell, Welbeck and Macheda coming through (not saying these should be first teamers but they're certainly far more worthwhile than an average forward in the long term).

If Cristiano Ronaldo leaves for Real Madrid, Manchester United apparently plan to spend some of the money from his transfer on Roma striker Mirko Vucinic.

The English champions look set for an £80m windfall and are ready to reinforce their squad with a number of high profile signings.

Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema have been strongly linked with the Red Devils, but Vucinic has been on their shortlist for a while now.

Earlier this season, the Montenegro international revealed how United came in with an offer for him last summer.

Roma rejected the bid and soon after United turned their attention to Bulgaria international Dimitar Berbatov.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed his best ever season in Roma colours, scoring 17 goals in 36 appearances.

Despite being in some financial difficulty, the Giallorossi are reluctant to sell Vucinic, who recently penned a new four-year deal.

However, Roma would consider an offer of between £25 and £28m for Vucinic, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

Vucinic would be a great addition.. he is a great impact player & a terrific finisher.. (the closest thing to ole out there)

The max we should be is around 15 million not 25 and also this is not gonna happen as he signed a new contract just last month..

I still can't believe people are forgetting that the Black Pele is back from loan. We need not with mortal strikers when we have he who shall not be named amongst our ranks.

Terrific finisher? 17 in 36 is quite but considering his style of play when I've seen him seems to be to create loads of chances and then miss them I wouldn't think he's a terrific finisher.

He would be a good player for us... If we're looking for a fourth striker.

And the 22m fee mentioned is, well, the inevitable result - mediawise, at least - of getting 80m quid.

Next rumour, next player. I expect it will take 5 minutes. I heard Tuttosport claimed we had a 30m Euro offer for Buffon rejected.

Whenever I have seen him playing he has always come off as a good finisher to me.. Others opinion may obviously..

Would love him here. Hes class. Although his PK against Arsenal was dreaful.

I said about 6 months ago, any two realistic targets that we should sign - Modric & Vucinic...

 FFS

How someone could put those 2 together I'll never know

50 goals in 165 games in Italy, considering 29 were for Lecce thats a poor record. He has improved alot in the last 18months but feck me 25 million?

Not a chance, Roma are just trying to get us back for Petrucci !!!

I said the closest thing.. that just means no one out there IMO is more like Ole than him!

Becomes ridiculously good in FM after about 2-3 seasons...

Seems like an ok player for Roma, in the handful of times i've watched them play. Definitely not worth anything more than 18M but could be another Fergie masterstroke.

He's definitely not a terrific finisher, the fact that he's been played out on the wing and behind the striker more often than he's played up front should be proof enough of that, but I think he's a very good player regardless.

Works hard, has an impressive physique and makes great use of it, is a good dribbler and has a good strike from range, and he's not a bad crosser.

I'd say he's fairly similar to Rooney, just doesn't have the vision of him.
