Millwall Fans

Be that the case as may be, I don't follow Milwall or care much for them but with their reputation, my kids wouldn't be going near.

Heard on the radio from a Milwall season ticket holder that the people involved in fighting are not regular match goers.

There was lots of tickets on open sale before the game and it seems as though the loons have decided to take advantage and make hay.

Been to milwall a couple of times with Brighton. Both passed without incident. Most clubs have still got idiots that come out for the big games. We've got our fair share at United.

Some of the "fighting" you see from these sorts is laughable. Big windmill punches and cowardly cheapshots. It's that pack like mentality which is more of a concern.

Anyway let's hope no innocent people are hurt. CCTV will pick them off.

And Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan told BBC Radio 5 live he understood why Millwall fans "want to fall out with the visiting team, but why would they fall out amongst themselves?

"It just gives football a very, very poor reputation.

"We know Millwall are a tough club, their team's tough to play.

"But don't fight each other. I couldn't understand that."

He really is becoming a delusional old man isn't he. Essentially what he's saying is that he fully understands if they want to fight with Wigan fans. :wenger:

Pretty much every time Whelan speaks now he embarrasses himself. It's such a pity because I used to really like the old guy. Genuine football head.

Think you are being too hard on him. He is knocking on a bit and I understand what point he is making. He has always had a habit of speaking his mind and sometimes he gets it wrong. No biggie.

Don't forget the hooligan bounce and the throwing of plastic chairs. Most of them run a mile if the numbers aren't on their side or the other lot are 'game'. Bullies.

They have moved onto Trafalgar Square/Thatcher protest, throwing bottles of piss at the police.

Just ban the cnuts from football.

Like the song goes, they don't care. A lot of these lot aren't match goers. It wouldn't matter if they get banned. Some of them might already be banned.

Plus we still don't know if it wasn't some other fans that got tickets. It doesn't sound like it must have been too hard to get.

I blame this on all the nostalgia for the 80's.

To be fair from these quotes he only doesn't get how they ended up fighting each other, the rest above has little to do with actual content of those quotes. If this is all he said then I don't see much in it.

Read the nuances between the lines Sarni. He's not justifying fighting with other fans, but saying it's somehow more acceptable than fighting your own.

It's a stupid unnecessary thing to say. Kinda like what he was saying about that tackle a few weeks ago. I think he's losing the plot a small bit.

He's obviously incensed about the fighting and the girl is upset and from the reaction of the lads in front of him that it's not flat-cap man whose being a dick. I do feel bad for her but equally, taking a child near Milwall fans seems to be a touch mad.

Yeah, he's just upset because he brought her to the game and she had to go through that shit. I'd be fecking livid.

It's kind of weird that there is some sort of dick-measuring hooligan contest going on.
Nah happens every time something like this comes up.

There's one or two knocking round here who think they're pwaoppa naughty.

Heap is continually hilariously cliched anytime something about hooliganism comes up.

The only thing more predictable is that there would be trouble at a Milwall game.

As has been said, banning is pointless. What good is it going to do? They're banned anyway. Putting this game on general sale was absolute madness.

Clearly this isn't necessarily the cause of the violence, but Wembley did contribute to this yesterday. There was no reason for that game being played there. They needed a capacity of around 40,000, like Villa Park, and that would have done nicely. That way, they could have controlled the Millwall fans who came in.

It's appalling for women and children to be involved in fighting like this, but it's not a resolvable problem. If you have a club with a faction of hooligans within its support and open a game up to general sale, then you're just asking for it. Wembley is contracted to have the FA Cup semi-finals for years yet so this may well happen again.

Obviously it is just the minority within their fans, but it is disgraceful, such a tarnish on the club.

What a way to ruin their outing at Wembley.

Just compare Bradford's experience at Wembley in the Capital One Cup final. They loved every minute, sang their hearts out, and it really united the city, they had a great day out, and it was memorable for everyone involved. A great experience for young children getting the chance to go to see their team that their dad has supported all his life, and have a brilliant day out.

My dad was taken to the 1968 european cup final at Wembley with my late grandfather, and in 2011, my dad took me to the champions league final at Wembley and it was an incredibly special and emotional day for both of us.

And that is what football should be, the chance to go to Wembley to see your team should be a joyous occasion, and it just makes me feel sick and embarrassed, even though i have absolutely no affiliation with Millwall, to see that sort of behaviour.

The problem for Millwall is they are and never have been one of the glamour clubs of London and with that they have never been able to attract fans from further away from where their ground is, and that is a major problem for them because the area surrounding their ground is an absolute shit hole with massive unemployment, huge drug and gang problems, low education and this all boils down into a certain type of person who can survive in that enviroment, it really is a ghetto mentality in and around that part of London, fighting and hatred are a way of life down there and it is self perpeptuating as there is simply just no way out for the locals.

I'm in no way condoning their behaviour but the enviroment that the locals live in does go some way to explaining why they have a higher than normal proportion of knob-heads.

Went there once in the 2nd division. It was a night match at the Den and there weren't that many reds there. Luckily, I didn't wear a scarf or anything and got away unscathed.

All i've said is that fella came up with a weird list of clubs with a hoolie problem.

Never had a problem admitting i find football violence intriguing, i'm doing a dissertation on the thing...

I went to that game as well, the United special trains broke down and there were hardly any United there, it was a 0-1 win with a Gerry Daly penalty, it was a frightening experience and I actually booed the penalty decision !!!

Not acceptable, but certainly more understandable. I can see the point that he's making, I too was surprised to see them having it with each other as a corner drifted in in the first half. They've been known to have rows at big games based on area disputes (Ferencvaros) but this is the first time I'd seen anything like it in the ground.

Also not quite true. They have a huge following from the chavvy bits of Kent.

What happened ?

The Met have being doing early morning warrants today and locking those identified up.

I am sure it will be on the news later, just caught it on Sky Sports. Seeing those who looked so smug the other week being dragged out of bed in handcuffs is always pleasant.

Take away their gangs and teach them to wash and some of them might make good pets.

Knock knock...

They are all getting their comeuppance.

Nowt worse than waking up to plod standing at the end of your bed telling you to get up and get your clothes on. (Especially when your mam's let them in)
