The 50 players nominated are selected by France Football. Keane is not very known in France, because he plays for a weaker national team (like Giggs). Owen is very popular here since the England-Argentina game. The result : Keane isn't even nominated and the 51 european journalists can't vote for him ! They should be free to vote for who they want.

Nice France Football cover BTW. At least, whatever people think about his football qualities, Owen is a nice boy ! He doesn't seem to be big-headed.

Best striker in the League..and European Footballer of the Year</strong><hr></blockquote>

Wrong. Hasselbaink is the best striker in England.

Congrad to Owen for this and he deserved it for helping Liverpool won all those trophies. European Footballer of the Year is counting on who perform outstanding throughout the year and has a major contribution to the success of his club and/or country. In this aspect I think Owen must be among one of the several players who deserve it. Someone are just saying how crap is this kind of award (very sour, and I don't think they will say the same thing if it is the player who they like to win this award.) But don't forget there is no "100% fair" game rule exist in the world, and every winner of this kind of award at least prove that they are widely admired by football fans in the world.
