A few months back RW was a priority in my head, now Garnacho and understudy Antony can cover.

We need to sort the midfield mess out first and foremost.

I’d happily bin Antony, Sancho and Greenwood then bring in Olise and Eze both from Palace to play right and left then have Garnacho and Rashford as back up, I love Garnacho but much like with Mainoo we shouldn’t be putting so much pressure on them by playing them every game and burning them out at such a young age.

You can see that Olise and Eze are both hungry and want to perform on the biggest stage rather than driven by money or turn up when they feel like, we used to have a squad of hungry players driven by being the best and win or lose would give 100% and I’d take that over players that may be a 10/10 one week then 4/10 for the following six weeks.

People make it sound like he is injured for half the season :wenger:

He has an injury per year so far. That could have many reasons, but he is not injury prone.

We need to fix the medical team anyway. Injuries happen to any player in our squad, no matter the previous history. We should not buy obvious crocks, Olise is fine.
That's fair, but have they not been both Hamstring injuries? Recurring injuries are always a worry and especially with hamstrings.

Palace fans seem to put that down to terrible management from Roy. Played him when he wasn't ready a couple times. It's little surprise he's back to full form under Glasner.

For sure, I remember the argument at the time as Roy also had to take them off at 50 odd minutes and people were talking about how medical teams are managing teams. Hamstrings are just difficult injuries to manage as the load on them is hard to manage in a game.

Is it true that he’s started just 13 games all season? Massive red flag

I’m genuinely surprised by the amount of negativity over this in here, to me it’s an absolute no brainer.
He’s an incredibly talented, young, premier league proven player who will cost next to nothing in today’s market.

Of course there are risks involved with him having a couple of injuries, but from what I remember he was rushed back when not ready and it’s basically the same injury.

Really talented player who would regress just like all our other signings unless we have a serious change to our play style.

Next to nothing? Palace are talking 60m!

We couldn't even get Wan bissaka out there as a full back for much less.

I mean in today’s market 60 million is next to nothing for a player of his ability and who has premier league experience.

When you look at the price paid for players like Antony, Mudryk and the likes I think it is a real bargain if we can get him for around that price.

Chelsea paid £62 mil for Mudryk. Olise will cost about the same.

There's a fair few add-on clauses in the Mudryk deal but Chelsea have been so shit since we bought him, none have been activated.

Yeah but if Mudryk is £62 million in the current market with about 10 professional appearances in a farmers league then Olise is definitely worth a punt at £60 million.

I’m sure Chelsea paid £89 million for Mudryk and it was on an 8 and a half year contract ? Regardless though Olise is 100% worth £60 million when you look at Sancho costing £73 million and Antony costing £86 million.

There’s so much value out there when actually looking like Guido, Adarabioyo, Kelly and Rabiot on frees, Gutierrez at Girona with a release clause of £30 million, Dovbyk with a release clause of £25 million, Olise at £60 million and Eze at £60 million.

Yep. As is, he'd be coming into a team that offers him less support and fluidity than where he's at, which is absolutely shocking.

Glasner has spoken about how they’ve improved Olise by having him attack more from central positions which is only possible by having their RB make runs down the right all game

so if we’re talking about Olise + Frimpong that could be a very deadly combo but if Olise and our current RBs in this setup then we may need to go back to the drawing board

Olise/Frimpong combo is something I proposed in another thread about how we should shape our next team. Olise would be half a 7 and half a 10 basically, with Frimpong being half a 2 and half a 7. Between the two of them, we’ll have a consistent RW threat.

I also think that if we went down this route, we shouldn’t have a specialist 10. Olise combined with a slightly forward thinking 8 (Mainoo) is enough to give us a 10 presence, while also retaining 3 proper midfielders.

I think Dalot could easily be a good foil for him providing we can get in a new leftback.

Dalot would be fine, we just need another player if Dalot isn't playing. Dumfries would be very good at that role. We would also need a better CM that covers the space left in behind like Hughes, Wharton and Lerma do.

Just a no brainer of a signing. With the release clause it should be a simple deal.

Only worry is if City come knocking. Realistically we can't really compete if they do.

Only real argument to not go for him would be that other areas require more attention. If paying £60m for Olise, or whatever it is, inhibits us from getting two new CMs it might be the wrong call. But he would instantly improve us massively, that much seems obvious.

As far as I’ve heard the release clause only applies to Champions League clubs.

Olise is not really a traditional right winger that run down to the byline and cross the ball. He is probably more similar to Sancho than Saka in terms of playing style. He is left footed and like to cut in from the right.

Dalot is a willing runner on the right hand side....AWB is useless as tits on a bull going forward

that said...both would be brilliant purchases in Olise and Frimpong

Frimpong will only work if we switch to a back 5.

Our RBs make runs up the pitch all game. Dalot has some quality there, AWB less so but half the time our rightback is "out of position" its because they've run up the pitch to support the attack which means they arent there for the counter when one of our players has made a poor contribution and lost the ball. Usually Olise is playing in front of Joel Ward

He'd get more support from United than he gets at Palace

That’s not true, a team doesn’t have to be symmetrical and other areas can be set up to ensure the right balance. Liverpool haven’t needed to switch to a back 5 to accommodate Trent for example, and City play with 3 defenders most of the time with Stones in midfield. A more conservative left back option would be enough I think, plus also having 2 midfielders with defensive attributes rather than one.

There's truth in what you say, but keeping our current back 4 in a 4-3-3 with a single pivot DM in midfield absolutely won't work with Frimpong at RB IMO. He's closer to being a right winger than a right back.

This is the role he thrives in at Leverkusen. He's no doubt a very good player and would be a bargain for somewhere between 35-45 million, as the reported asking fee was around that amount when we were considering a move for him over a year ago, but it would probably be way higher now, unless he has a release clause? Not sure.

My point is that expecting him to just simply replace Dalot in the current 4-3-3 we're trying is asking for trouble.
