This is what we need to get back to doing, signing players we know will work in this league, because they're actively succeeding in it. The majority of failures over the fast few years had been signings from abroad.

Dream on lads. There will be multiple clubs at the table in the summer, Liverpool and City have been scouting him heavily in recent weeks from what I’ve heard, PSG have been mooted with the French connection as well.

City won't even be in the league soon enough.

I reckon he would be a very good signing.

And which of those clubs are impossible for us to beat in the race for a player?

This would actually in theory be a really good signing. We need a fast, dribbling RW probably more than any other position. He's young as well.

I haven't watched him regularly but from the bits I've seen, he fits that mould. Would bode well for the Radcliffe area if this is the first signing they make. The Glazers made transfers unnecessarily difficult for no reason, when really building a first XI and scouting players isn't really that difficult - just follow what SAF used to do for the profile of each position or what Real Madrid do.

Yeah, but past that we also had Fellaini, Mata, Schneiderlin, Sanchez, Lukaku, Maguire, etc...

I don't think it matters which league they come from. Failure can happen with most of our signings.

Yes please.

How much is the release clause?
Rumoured £60m but a huge upgrade on Antony, if this is true this suggests that Paul Mitchell is already working in the background and he’s done a full appraisal of everything that’s wrong with the current United Squad. If we sold Antony for £25m and F Pellistri for £20m the net spend would be £15m add Raphina for Sancho cost and the right wing is fixed for a few years, especially if Amad starts to shine.

We have signed Bruno, Eriksen and Mount who all came with a great reputation when it comes to set-pieces, yet neither manages to beat the wall/first man after they joined us. We could sign the lovechild of Beckham and Juninho and still end up with Lindelöf on set-pieces within a couple of months.
Bruno's been the only one fit for the majority of the season though. If we had a few that could compete, it would be far better. Ironically Shaw is probably our best set piece taker  .

He's a good player, a very good young talent and we should be looking at players like this. But.. we must, must learn from the experiences of Zaha, Sancho, Antony, Martial... these were all (arguably) talented players, but failed to deliver consistently for Manchester United. This is about what Elise wants.. does he want to be one of the very best attackers in Europe? If he doesn't have that ambition, real determination and drive, then we shouldn't go for him. He also needs almost a 'free role'.. he isn't like Saka, or Riyad Mahrez who are more slow down, face up a full-back, one-on-one type attackers... Olise drifts, picks up the ball etc, which is great. But it has to work for us.

I personally don't want ETH anywhere near any transfers. His record isn't good, he overpays for players (both cost and salary) and he doesn't seem to get the best out of them.

No brainer of a signing. He’s top quality, British, PL proven, available at a decent fee, and plays in a position we desperately need to strengthen. I was advocating for this as far back as before the Antony signing.

We could’ve invested reasonably minimal money in Olise, Ward-Prowse, Gibbs-White and a big signing in Rice and had a much better squad than we have now, younger, hungrier on much lower wages and still have 100m+ in the bank if we’d signed those four instead of Casemiro, Sancho, Mount and Antony.

And the thing is, so many people said it over various times. There’s just no strategy at this club.

Sounds like a smart signing, but not if he costs 80m like our usual signings. The new board will hopefully bring a new transfer strategy and I hope we can avoid making the same mistakes again. For around max. 40m I'd love to see him here, but I doubt Palace would give him us for cheap. His rumored release clause of 60m sounds too much to me imo.

You do realise Ten Hag wasn't responsible for negotiating the transfer fee and wages for our signings? That responsibility falls with John Murtough (hopefully not for much longer with Ratcliffe coming in).

As long as there’s a release clause then yes please. Palace had our pants down with Wan Bissaka.

Yes, let's fecking go. Some sensible transfers now.

Talented but also works his socks off.

Would love this signing, would surely come in and replace Antony on the right hand side. There would be a lot of hard work to get this player to come to Old Trafford if it is true. I would expect City and Liverpool will be lining him up as well, so it would be a massive task to get him to come here after this season.

Nah, we don't want him back.

You guys should go for him though, signing Ex-Chelsea players always ends well for you.
You’ve let go of players that have become decent. KDB and Salah being a couple.

Is this guy just going to be another Wilf Zaha, does well at Palace then joins us looking like a future star but ends up flopping and being sold back to Palace a year later on the cheap.

Nice. If a 60m release clause is true it’s a no brainer. Wouldn’t go more than 70m for him though.
City can feck off as well. They bought Doku for the right but played him on the left thus benching their 100m left winger, and after selling Cole Palmer. And all that on a foundation of rampant financial cheating.

Whilst born in this country, he has represented France at international youth level.

Too sensible to transfer, has a release clause, and the player on an upward direction in terms of his performance. Summer is so far away, 'we'll see.

This is true but he qualifies for Algeria, France, England and Nigeria so it’s down to Southgate to convince him he would be perfect for England, needs a big move City or United and he’ll be in the French or England squad week in week out, this boy has what a Manchester United player needs

Injured again after missing the early part of the season due to injury. Do people really want another injury prone player in our squad? I agree that he is technically superb but we already have way too many injury prone players without needing to add to it further.

£60m amortized for 5 years is £12m per year plus wages will start at £6m-7m per year not like Antony combined cost of £17m transfer fee and £10m wages or Casemiro £14m transfer and £17m wages.

When you blow your budget like we did on those two deals you can never ever move the players on and it hampers your transfer budget year in year out. We paid far too much in wages for Antony, onana, Mount, Varane, Casemiro and the only favourable deals to the club in wages was Hojlund on £100k per week and Martinez rumoured to be on £140k per week.

All of the others mentioned are on 200k per week plus with Eriksen, Sancho, Martial and Rashford!

I wouldn’t say he’s particularly fast tbh.

He’s quality though, I’d take him AND Eze from Palace and get rid of Bruno.

Watch our midfield get neglected for a right winger, for the 4th summer in a row.
I think we will do nothing this winter, Sir Jim has written this season off, it’s not as if he’s never had a team that he owns finish mid table!

He will put the right people in, sell most of what we can this winter like ; Martial, Varane, DVB, Sancho, Greenwood or initiate loan to sell deals then he will let Mitchell and Ashworth if he comes make decision in the summer where you can see him and the club forcing out Antony £20m, Greenwood £40m, DVB £10m, J Sancho £40m, S Mctominay £30m, T Malacia, F Pellistri £15m and sending back Players like Amrabat.

This review is 100% the right way and starting now means that the club can use two windows to jettison at least 10-11 players, I wouldn’t be surprised if Alvaro Fernandez is coming back asap which is why we sent Reguilon back so quickly.

Paul Mitchell, if he is to be appointed head of recruitment would have already made extensive notes, Ashworth if he joins will be the conduit between Sir David Brailsford, Sir Jim and the new CEO.

I like what I’m hearing already “Premier League Proven” which means less players recruited from inferior leagues, I posted the other day that if United took the best player from every PL team historically positioned from 11th to 20th like R Berkeley, M Olise, A Onana(Everton), P Estupinan, J Trafford, D Solanke etc the squad would be vastly superior to its current iteration.

Disappointed if true.

Not because of the player but because we haven't had any new changes yet. Who is making this decision? No new DoF yet, no new scouts...

Hopefully just tabloid nonsense.

This. We're also adding physicality in our attack that we severely lack. And he's at a very good age to develop.

Yeah I trust the process too, it’s why I deleted my original comment. Plenty of opportunity to address both positions if the squad management is up to it. As long as we get the midfield right as a priority, then the likes of Olise will go down a treat. I just hope it doesn’t end up like the previous summers, blowing a chunk of the budget on a right winger when we have bigger holes to fill.

Regarding this - the only thing that matters from a United standpoint is whether he qualifies as homegrown, which he already does.

I think he's getting massively overhyped if you think he's going to be a mainstay for France or England anytime soon.
