Michael Carrick leaves Manchester United

Hope he does well wherever he goes.

He’s seen his former team mate leave, done a good steadying of the ship this last week and leaves with his head held high.
A great player and hopefully, given time, will become a great coach. Who knows - we may see him back at old Trafford in years to come

If they're the only 3 games he's managed man Utd, not too bad to beat Villarreal away and Arsenal at home. Supposedly better managers have failed to do similar. Wonder if someone will take a punt on him as a manager.

It's like this goalkeeper in NHL who gets to play a couple of games and plays a blinder and never gets in goal again and having unreal statistics.

Really appreciate Carrick's decision, all this bullshit about his brief spell being a huge success and a chance for him to get another chance. What was he doing all these three years then? Let him go and take a coaching/managing role somewhere and prove himself. We are a top club unable to take more risks after 10 years of shit show and trust in old brands/names..

Now it's time for professionals to come in. There's still a lot of United ethos left, built by Ole, with Ronaldo around Fletcher watching closely etc.
Tell us how you really feel.

Good for him.

Hes left himself with impressive references and quite a performance as head coach for us for any managerial position he applies for in future.

Can see big things coming of him.

Football world is extremely fickle. These last three games might even be enough for him to land a managerial role in PL. The Christmas merry go round of managers is about to begin and he could very well benefit from it.

I think he'll show up somewhere as a manager next season and I hope he makes a success of it.

Michael Carrick is and has been the ultimate role model for the club. I wish him all the best in the future. Legend.

:nervous:

Fair play to Carrick. He's stepped up while in the firing line and got results. He's always seemed a decent bloke and he's come across extremely classy here in this interview.

Cliche, but he's been such a good servant to the club in his time as a player and on the staff.

This is probably the best move for everyone, as he says.

It's not a cliché when it's true and not that common. Very steady as a player while playing at a high level and he seemed in control during the past 10 days. I would love it if he happens to be good enough to manage United full time one day.

He was coach under Mourinho for like 3 months, not a HUGE part is it?

There is literally nothing more stupid than people who know nothing assuming they know what individual coaches do, what they are responsible for, how much influence they have, or what they are capable of.

Judging it as I see it the coaching has been non existent and he’s part of this United culture that seems to give jobs to former players who aren’t suitable for the role.

Just look at Fletcher he’s apparently a ‘technical director’ at the club but for some reason is seen training with the squad in 5 a side games it’s fecking daft.

Feel more sad about Carrick leaving than Solskjaer tbh…

But he (and McKenna) have been at Utd under enough failed regimes really.

Really wish him the best and hope he carries on his coaching career.

Very likeable, seemingly genuine guy.

Much respect.
Same, left with integrity. Suddenly just dawned on me how much I've been used to seeing him around the club, weird to see him go, but necessary all the same. Good luck Carrick!

Shearer's just raised a point that he leaves with no financial package as the club didn't ask him to leave.
Wasn't his contract just extended as well?
Fair play to the man.
Proper Legend!

Legend and a really good 3 games from him. I called for him to be dropped many years ago, I was wrong, and got a clueless tag for punishment. Fully deserved.

Classy Carrick …thank you and best wishes for the future.

Massive respect for carrick… must of been a hard few days for him knowing this and keeping it to himself, he was just focused on getting the win for us. It says a lot about him that he wanted to leave peacefully… he could of announced it before the game and got a send of that he deserves from a full crowd but he didn’t want that. Good luck for the future carrick! Hope to see you in the stands one day!

All the best Carra, thanks for the last 15 years, some great memories

Classy guy. Did well to get the results he did in these three games with the limited experience he has.

All the best Mike! Wish him all the best in the future.

He can pass the buck to Ole and leave. He was part of the team that got us into this mess in the first place. yes he won 2 and drew one and Ole probably would have done that too.

Class act, hope he builds his managerial career as there is genuine potential there.

Oh just feck off you absolute bore.

He could have learned a thing or two from Ralf so shame, but he couldn't be first team coach. His pre match interview showed how clueless he is about pressing v counter.

But he seems like a great guy and a great player. Wish him well. Did a brilliant job the last three games.

Thank you, Michael. And good luck for the future. When the Spanish waiter finally hands in his apron, show him how it’s done.

Didn't necessarily expect this. Smart move would have been to learn under Ralf, but seems like either Carrick has too big of an ego or (less likely) Ralf not wanting him. Either way, I won't cry about it. He should go and coach or manage a smaller team, prove himself and if he becomes very good maybe come back.

In Michael Carrick's first 7 seasons at Manchester United, he averaged 45 games per season. 5 Premier League titles (missed the other 2 titles by a combined total of 1 point). 3x Champions League finals. Won 17 trophies during United career. Simply a phenomenal period of success.

Saw the above on Twitter unbelievable career and steadied the ship over the past few games, he was a class act on and off the field by the sounds of that interview

Speaks volumes to his character.

Ole would have lost all 3 games.

Great decision from him tbh. Spend a bit of time with his family, unwind, and at some point he'll get a good coaching or managerial opportunity come up I think because the way he carried himself and the way we played while he's been the manager has been genuinely really impressive. Best of luck Michael and enjoy your time off.

:wenger:

Give your head a wobble.

One of my favorite players at United. A classy midfielder and man. Three very good results in his stint as interim manager. I'll always love his goal against Wigan and Evra telling the fans its in the bag.

Good luck to him in the future.
