New York Times reporting that Manchester United is interested in the 20-year-old American midfielder.

Michael Bradley, a 20-year-old American midfielder, is being sought by at least four European clubs: Werder Bremen and Stuttgart in Germany, Sampdoria of Italy and Everton of the English Premier League. Manchester United has also expressed interest in Bradley, who now plays for Heerenveen in the Netherlands.

I don't see it, to be honest. But then, I don't rate him near as much as everyone else seems to.

19 goals in 34 matches for Heerenveen is impressive, though.
 
I'm not a yank but I've seen him play for the US U-21s and was not especially impressed. A move to a lower PL team sounds more like it.
 
So we have our quota of Asian shirt-sellers. Along comes an American marketing tool. Bingo!

I didn't think he was all that great at the World Youth Championships last summer (thought Freddy Adu and Jozy Altidore were much, much better), but I think he was still named to the tournament's Best Xl.
 
wasnt ALVES on fire in holland? his record for boro is more realistic to the strikers attributes i feel.

Alves looked like, although not a great player, he will score a lot of goals when he clicks from what I saw against Chelsea. Took up good positions, deceptively quick and if he can get some of his shots/headers on target he'll score.
 
If only Everton, Bremen and Sampdoria are chasing him and not Chelsea, Madrid, Barcelona and Milan then he is not that good.

That's an asinine statement. Not every player is world class. Bradley would probably be a great addition to a club like Boro or Birmingham. I'd love for Roy Keane to sign him and develop him. He has the talent to be a very good midfielder.
 
Although the NYT is a quality newspaper, I think they got it wrong with the clubs from Manchester. Citeh are in for him, not United.
 
Blackburn and Everton were close to signing him in January but Heerenveen didn't want to sell him until the summer. I'm an American, and a supporter of the club he played for in America, so I may be a bit biased. I think he will be a very good player in the Premiership for an Everton or a Blackburn or a Tottenham but not United. He made some comments awhile ago that made it sound like he would prefer a move to Italy or Spain
 
Altidore, he, and Edu are probably the best of the young American crop, don't know if he is good enough to succeed at United, but could probably make it elsewhere in Europe
 
i told a friend in england about him this summer and then again in the fall and on monday. tiddy player , strong positionally etc. scores goals from midfield. not sure UNITED need him. coaches son so he knows his stuff. played well v poland last week.

How could you list the best young Americans and not include Adu?
 
I follow the Dutch league quite a lot, and indeed Alves was a fantastic player there. Bradley is average at Heerenveen at best. He's in no way up to United standards.
 
He's a good player and one of the few American players who would do well in the Premiership. Wouldn't be a bad shout for Aston Villa to go for him if they sell Milner for millions to City.

I think Birmingham were going to sign him before as well
 
Yup, he's had a good Word Cup, proper box to box midfielder aswell. Impressed at the Confederations Cup also last year. I agree with FT, he'd make a good signing for a Villa/Brum type of club. Given his defensive ability, age and all round mobility I'd also take him at United over Carrick.
 
He's been one of the standout players for the USA. Villa or Everton possibly would be a good fit for him if a premier league team was to make a move

Darron Gibson is?

Bradley is better off going to a Villa or Fulham to start out, then in a few years moving on if he's really come good in the Premiership. He's certainly progressed quite well since that strange pre-WC friendly appearance he got in 2006 at age 18.
 
Bradley really impressed me for the USA.

Saying that even although i really appreciated his play and contribution i don't think he's at the level of a top club. And to be honest i dont think he'll ever get to that level.

I do rate him though, he'd do great at a villa/everton/fulham i think.

No he isnt either, but Gibson is a product of our youth setup. Why would we buy some average American? Could do a job though in the Premiership, just not at the top end.
 
Don't see any way Bradley is ready for a club like United. Decent player, not great player. Not even sure about Fulham or Everton to be honest. I'd like to see it though as it would be a good indicator of his talent. Not to mention what playing against PL quality could do to elevate his game.

Really?

I thought he was every bit as influential as Donovan and Dempsey, who've done well at those two clubs.

Maybe I'm being a bit harsh. I like Bradley as a player but playing centrally in the prem is a big task.
