Meaningless Social Media PR Wall of Shame

I don't want to be 'that' guy, but is there a reason he's done this a day after he's put in one of the worst performances I've seen in a United shirt?

The cynic in me can't shake that thought.
Seems to me you're taking a veeeerry big leap there. Dont see how that will change many people s opinions about him as a player. ll take that tin foil hat from ya now.

I mean, it’s a nice gesture, but there’s something about a multimillionaire footballer with so much money his pockets are overflowing with cash, handing it out to homeless people before going back to his mansion that just feels a bit off. I’m sure it was done with good intentions.
Bringing cardboard boxes that have the text "Hobooits" on them are insulting to the homeless community.
On an unrelated note, can I have a tenner too please Rashford.
Ten quid? The tight git!

He earns hundreds of thousands of pounds a week for doing virtually nothing. Surely he could quit posing for social media and dig a little deeper.

Come on, Saudi. Help us out!

I'm sure his intentions are good, it's probably his PR team that took the picture and asked him for a permission to publish it. I mean what else would they do, PR team has nothing else to do outside of publishing stuffs to make their clients look good, even if the effect is sometimes the opposite.
It's a parody account.

Yes mate, it was planned at 11pm last night. They had an hour to clear out the local Tesco

Per the relevant thread I’m as pissed off as anyone with that performance yesterday but this is a man with a long history of charitable events. Is it so difficult to understand someone can be not very good at football & philanthropic?

I know for a fact that he does something similar pretty much every week now when he's available.

There's a lot criticise him for at the moment but helping to feed kids and families in the middle of a cost of living crisis isn't one of them.

Nice gestures lose sincerity when it's obviously done for the camera. Might be a cynical way of thinking about it, but that's just the world we live in now and pretending otherwise is naive. The genuinely nice guys are those who donate anonymously without any selfish motives. When you film it for the world to see it's obvious you just want praise and attention more than wanting to help someone in need

He's been doing stuff like this for years. Some of you are being a bit too cynical.

A £10 bag of heroin costs exactly…. £10. And here’s Marcus handing out these drug tokens to the community that has the biggest drug problem. His heads gone.

Loving everyone being hooked in by a parody account.

Also the state of you lot.

Having worked for a charity in the past, I'm 99% sure that who ever organised the collection asked him (or his PR team) to make it public.

This has only served to solidify the fact that The Athletic is a mouthpiece for footballing elites. Nowt wrong with that - just the commercial reality for mainstream publications.

Wasn't Pogba giving bigmac meals to street urchins in his Amazon documentary from his chauffeur driven car. Pure PR stunt

This charity thing from Rashford has to be kept 1000% separate from his on field performances. Nothing to do with each other at all.

Good on him. He should be encouraged.
should go play for another club though.

A donation is equally worth indifferent of being an anonymous one or not.

Yeah it's almost like the first time he's done it, isn't it?

Feck me, there is some thick people on here.

Isn’t it more cynical that had he scored a hat trick yesterday we wouldn’t have this discussion about his charity work?

You realise that charities and other causes that he donates to will want him to be the face for campaigns because regular people will then tend to relate more to these causes and donate? It's the same reason they have a big tv programme for Red Nose Day and Children in Need packed with celebs.

It's really weird that people are mad at his footballing performances so then jump on his back about donating to charity and good causes at times when our politicians are making a fecking mess of it all.

No it's just pure thickness that people decide to bring his charity work and use it as a weapon against him. It's got nothing to do with his football form. Criticise him for that and rightly so. However anyone criticising him for this is just being a cnut or thinking this is some kind of photo op when he has been regularly supporting charities needs to take a long fecking hard look at themselves. In a current situation where lots of people are struggling, help is appreciated by those who receive it. Perhaps those criticising him could get off their lazy cnutish arses and help as well.

Fair dos (also I've seen it mentioned that it's a parody account).

Or it served to solidify that people will believe any old guff from a parody account tweet and won't even bother to check any information at all before jumping in two-footed with half-baked takes.

Apparently he was even telling them where they could get it from and took a few of them in his Rolls Royce to collect.

Of course not. Stuff like this takes planning and preparation.

apparently rashford only stayed there to take that photo and then left immediately as “one of them” tried to talk to him.

I heard he stood there and ate a 4 pack of Mars bars in front of them, left the wrappers on the floor then left

Just looked it up and the picture is from 3 years ago. Best not to bump these threads with parody tweets.

Nothing wrong with it as long as it's just him in the pics.

If he was taking "Isn't this sad?" pics with homeless people or a family who can't feed their kids for school then it would just be misery porn for good boy points. But I don't think he does that so leave him alone.

I still think he's shit and want him sold though.

My bad. I didn't bother verify this non-important news. Doesn't disprove my current view of The Athletic though. They've shilled often enough for the Club and directors. But such is corp comms.

I don't mind him feeding kids as his main job but not on 250k a week.

He can move into an ambassador role at United. He'd be perfect.
