Mayweather Marquez

I would say the main fight will start anytime after 3:30am, but could be alot later than that too depending on the undercard. I'm gonna wake up for about 3am myself, dont mind missing most of the undercard as its not awe inspiring.

I hope Mayweather beats him and Manny, I am all about the legends being made, but if Mayweather beats both, he certainly has a stake in the best pound for pound fighter ever, like Texas has a stake of the US.

Same.

Mayweather will wipe the floor with Marquez.

This is easily the most predictable fight of the year. It's about money, and nothing else. Marquez knows he will not win, but he will be paid handsomely for it and Mayweather will be able to keep his undefeated record intact.

Can't watch this :( But I'd expect a Mayweather victory, much as I'd love to see Marquez come out on top

I am going to go out on a limb here, and predict Marquez is going to beat Mayweather, not only beat him but knock him out.

Mayweather seems to have periods in fights where he steps back and invites pressure however noone ever capitalises on it.
Da La Hoya, N'dou, Castillo (he beat Mayweather anyway) and Corley all managed to back up Mayweather but were never able to put him in real danger. Of course Mayweather superb defense comes into play, however Marquez's pin point accurate punches are in a different league to those 4 fighters and I have this sneaky feeling he will be able to catch him.

This is all however irrelevant if Marquez can’t carry extra the weight, he has never fought above 135 so its hard to tell how he will adapt, if he can't adapt to increase in weight he will be picked off and out worked handing Mayweather a easy victory.

An Mayweather win though will be good for boxing, it will set up a mega fight between the winner of Pacquiao and Cotto and go some way in creating a legacy for himself.

You clearly don't know Marquez

It is not easy to hit him even when he's backing up, many have tried. And when you throw 50+ punches per round you tend to tire quickly, and that's fatal against someone like Mayweather, he'll pick you apart and tear you to pieces. Castillo is the only one who came close to beating him (I felt he beat DLH unanimously), but I suppose his excuse was that it was the first time he moved up in weight and he usually needs a fight or two to adjust.

This fight will start out slow and tactical, but the difference in speed will very quickly be apparent. Then we'll see how Marquez changes his gameplan, will he take risks? Or make Floyd come to him.

That all depends on the level of the fighter and their intelligence. Marquez is as efficient and accurate as Mayweather, he will not go throwing pointless punches as N'dou or DLH did.

The weight though is going to be a major factor, its just too hard to tell how Marquez is going to cope, how much it may have slowed him down?

The point is, JMM is not a pressure fighter. Never has been. He is a counterpuncher. Much like Mayweather. Only Marquez is smaller, slower, older, etc.

I fear he is in for a onesided beating.

Would also appreciate a link. But please make sure that if you provide one, please do so in a PM. Else the stream will be taken down pretty fast and everyone loses. Thanks.

Do none of you guys have sky sports? I mean you know it's not on box office right?

Don't follow boxing but wasn't there supposed to be a Mayweather v Pacquiao fight this year?

Got to watch after all. Very clinical performance from Mayweather, different class. Hopefully it's Mosley or Pacquiao next

Mayweather and Mosley bickering in the post match :D

Pretty much expected, both fighters being counterpunchers it was never going to be a slug fest. I think i saw a bit of ring rust in Floyd though, sometimes his timing was *just* a bit off and he got tagged once or twice early on. But as expected this was a great tune up bout for him, now hopefully it sets up the super fight between him and Pacquiao.

On this evidence I don't see Pacquiao geting anywhere near him if they fight, Mayweather just coming off more than a yr out against a guy who pushed Pacquiao to the wire last time they meet and could claim to have won at least one of their bouts.

He made that guy look like a novice tonight. Complete Masterclass. Pacquiao's camp won't want him anywhere near Floyd.

just watched the fight this morning. a masterclass from floyd. all that was missing was a knockout.

fair play to marquez. a lesser man would have sparked out cold

Was like cat toying with a mouse. A Mexican mouse. Masterclass is an apt description of that performance. Too strong. Too fast. Too fecking good.

A good welterweight just beat up a good lightweight. Big fecking deal.

Perhaps Gayweather will shock us all and actually fight a guy in his own weight class next. Don't hold your breath.

.....

two fights at lightweight is hardly enough time for his body to become accustomed the weight.

Mayweather did look like he was over most of the ring rust but Marquez did catch him once or twice and a full blown welter (Mosley) might have made him pay. I think he realised early that Marquez can't hurt him
