Max Meyer | Rejected Schalke Contract Offer

Khedira is slow too. He might be even slower than Kroos. Juventus fans want him gone because he is too slow and that's in Italy. He looked like a grandpa against Dembele and Eriksen. Not really sure why we would go for him when we have Matic.

What we need is someone like KdB, Silva or Eriksen. A player that dictates the tempo and distributes to our front 3 and Pogba. We don't have anyone like that in our squad, the closest is probably Mata. Current Mata though is a tier or two below the top and thats not good enough for a club like us.

It's imo our biggest need if our goal is to dominate games and play entertaining football like the rest of the top 4. It's one of the things that we badly lack compared to those other top teams.

Where are you getting that from?

Edit: Just checked the juventuz forum, that place is worse than redcafe when it comes to bashing players

I think it has more to do with Schalke's incompetence in that regard. Matip, Kolasinac, Goretzka and Meyer. Only of them is heading to Munich so far. I doubt Munich are interested in Meyer.

Yeah he or his agent are not that happy, they went all-in for Goretzka and now the offer for Meyer doesn´t seem to even be on the same financial planet. They are saying you had the huge money for Goretzka, but with us you are suddenly acting broke.

Sane is a City player so never gonna happen.

Kroos might be too slow for the Premier League in my opinion. Especially paired with Matic.

Khedira would suit us though.

Yeah, the guy who won three Champions leagues and a world cup while being instrumental to all those campaigns is clearly too slow for the almighty Premier League. He's probably not suited to it's phisicality as well? Can he do it on a rainy wednesday in Stoke? This place is ridicoulus sometimes.

Seems tailor-made for Liverpool, especially if Emre Can goes to Juve. Wonder where he sits in Liverpool's list vis-a-vis Seri.

Sometimes I wish we could take a punt on a player like this, but Jose has his archetypes and prefers specialists over multi-tools. Could Meyer actually more B2B instead of CDM?

Seri has more experience playing in that position so logically one should go for him, though Meyer has the age advantage. I wouldn't want him at United personally, I think he will be too lightweight for the CDM position though considering his playing style though he can work well alongside Pogba and Matic; he can take away some of the playmaking role off Pogba.

We dont go for players just because he is free. A big No for me. Probably, Arsene might want him since he is free.

So Bayern is tapping Bundesliga talent by telling them not to renew their contracts?
Like bucky said, only one of the Schalke 'contract rebels' joined Bayern and I doubt Meyer will make it a second. I think they see Schalke as a good club to play regularly and get the attention of bigger clubs, and even if they don't renew their contract they don't get frozen out of the team.

The biggest risk is if they pick up an injury in the last year of their contract and having to go through an extra year on the wages they started the contract at which would be well below what they could be earning. De Gea's the best example in recent times of someone in the last year of their contract who could have gone to a better club signing a new deal but he also had van Gaal keeping him on the bench during the uncertainty so who knows if it would have continued had De Gea not signed?

I think Meyer will join Liverpool. Arsenal had also been heavily linked but I think they're too much of a mess.

Mostly Reddit. But it’s not really a secret that they want him gone. Have you watched him play lately? He is so slow...

Yep got that feeling too. Would sort out a lot of Liverpool's weaknesses if they get him and Keita. Obviously they still need a good keeper too.

Plenty of “world class stars” have struggled adapting to the pace and physicality of the Premier League. Kroos is slow but technically sound, good passer, etc. But Schweinsteiger was all those things aswell. Look how he turned out.

United need aggressive “dynamite” players. Guys like Vidal, Nainggolan, etc. We need THAT player. We already have Matic as the holding CDM. We need the box to box player who’ll win the ball back and drive it forward. Vidal is the best at this IMO.

Tons of players have struggled after a move for various reason. This isn’t down to phisicality of the Prem, it just happens sometimes. What’s that physicality even supposed to be? Schweinsteiger didn’t struggle because of the phisiciality, he struggled because he was finished and we robbed you. I agree that Kroos wouldn’t be the solution to Uniteds current problems. But that’s not because he would „struggle with the phisicality of the Prem“. That’s a ridicoulus sentiment.

Is it just me or does this happen Schalke every year?
Kolasinac, Matip, Goretzka, Meyer are the main ones at a young age then there's a bunch close to their 30s/in 30s who may not have been offered a new contract anyway: Choupo-Moting, Fuchs, Huntelaar, Aogo, Sam, Neustadter all in the last three seasons.

It happened with Kevin Prince Boateng and a couple of others too.

Is he any good? Will he improve us coming on a free?

No. Not consistent whatsoever and even when he's playing well, there are other players, who at their best are simply better than him. Lots of better options than him.

They wanted to get rid of him, same with Neustadter, Sam and Aogo.

Its a nice club to showcase your talent and leave when you get a better deal. . Even their own youth products do this (Neuer cough cough)..

Yeah, but it's just weird it seems every year there's one player who's relieved of first team duties.
