He is just using us according to the IDK on Reddit to get a better deal from Barca, makes sense.
If you are talking about Spoofex he also mentioned we have offered him what he is asking though, which is much more than what Barca are offering.

I just can’t see it happening unless Barcelona are offering really low wages.
Does Juve have the money to swoop in?

What do you guys think we’d offer him vs Barca in terms of wages? 170k vs 100k?
And maybe a bigger sign on fee and more money to Raiola.
We are offering him 240k p/w according to reports, don't know what Barca are offering.

I'm not gonna delude myself but with the way Barcelona's wage structure is at the moment, I think we have a small chance. Obviously, once they up their offer it's curtains.

It is all about agent these days...

I’ve seen a number of mentions about VDS persuading him for us. VDS also spent a lot of time at Juventus, who are reportedly interested in him too.

VDS didn't have the best of times at Juventus. Almost ruined his career.

Would be a fantastic signing but is not likely to happen. Raiola is trying to negotiate more money for his client.

Yeah that why, why is he an ITK?

Why has Reddit suddenly become gospel on here?

Spoofex has apparently gotten more right than wrong. But he seems to polarize opinion

I am paying a bit more attention to what he has to say compared to other journalists now that he got the timing the James progress spot on. He always mentioned AWB is genuine, with Munier as back up but now he seems to have put his hat firmly AWB transfer now, claiming it may well be our first signing with the speed its progressing. If we do end up having him wrapped up swiftly enough it may add more credibility.

Every Journo or "ITK" will be doubted but I found his James leak a bit too good to write him off just yet.

Hard to get excited about a player I’ve barely watched. But caf always does a good hype job.

Even if you didn't get a chance to watch any of the Champions League this season, surely it's telling that a teenager captained a side that beat Madrid and Juve in some fashion.

Not to mention a very strong run to and then showing against us in the Europa League final at...17.

Agree with most points but when City come I doubt we can compete with that.

Kompany is gone and he's already better than Stones, arguably Laporte as well. On top of that he's the exact type of defender Pep would want. Kompany also left a big salary void that they can easily throw at him, as he's no doubt be a key defender in the future.

Not sure why Real aren't interested as well, will slot right in and they have money.

Pep would never pay a kid a huge money. That was why he had to let go of Mbappe despite scouting him and wanting him. You have to prove it first with him before getting a huge pay rise.

I think that has more to do with the money Ajax will receive than anything else. I know VDS is a legend and all but his primary concerns are the running of Ajax FC.

Doesn't stop City from paying his transfer fees. The news was Pep didn't want like his wage demand. Same happened in Madrid. Only PSG had no problem paying such huge wage.
City haven't spent over about £50m for any single transfer yet. They spend a lot but not huge fees in one go. They'd get smashed by FFP if they did.

If he went abroad, Monaco wouldn't have asked for 150mil. I think the fee agreed with Madrid was around 80mil but his huge wage demand put them off. Same happened with Pep. Monaco didn't want to sell to a rival except if PSG would splash huge money for him, considering they had no problem doing the same for Neymar.

He seems to have some insider who tells him about the meetings between the so called transfer committee. To his credit he is always quick to point out his info might not always be correct as many decisions are made solely by Ed and the manager to which has no access. He seems genuine rather than a WUM but there are times when his information comes across as contradictory, so take whatever he says with a pinch of salt.

PSG paid £220m for him, there is no way they'd accept an £80m from anyone else with that bid on the table. Rival or not.

I'm sure everyone was interested until they saw what PSG were paying.

If this actually happens it'll be a massive statement of the clubs intentions. Get the best prospects and trust them to grow into superstars.

This type of signing could have a massive impact on the likes of Pogba and DDG deciding their futures.

In Ed we trust!

The same thing was said 3 years ago.
We had signed up a serial winner to manage us.
We had signed the most expensive player in footballing history.

2 years later, Ed started penny pinching, making footballing decisions and claiming that our defenders were top class. They only thing I trust Ed to do is to make money for the Glazers. Nothing else.

The only thing which would give me hope for the future, is if Woodie announced that he would no longer interfere with footballing decisions. While he is in charge, we will not compete for the title, even if we spend £1bn on players. I've learnt my lesson from 3 years ago and I won't be fooled again.

That was for Neymar. PSG didn't pay 220mil for him. It was in the region of 150mil. They didn't want to sell to a rival but would have sold him for less if he went abroad.

Whats your gut feeling on de Ligt?

Do they think a 19 y/o is going sign a big contract then say ‘I’m just going to play shit now’.

We've seen several players do this.

They have a bright star. They join us amid hype and over a period of about 8 weeks, they gradually become crap.

Darmian is an excellent example. Brilliant in his opening games for us, then turned to junk.

Pogba. Many believed that he was the best midfielder in the World when he joined us. Look at him in the last 2 months of our last season. He was abysmal.

Miki was player of the year in Germany a few weeks before he joined us. Then he turned to junk after he joined us.

I can keep going, but you get my drift.

I'd be happy because he seems excellent and is so young. That said, Blind has been better than him when I've watched them this season (which isn't much). No shame in that considering Blind is a good defender who Mourinho sold for peanuts whilst persisting with Phil Jones.

What is it with the current fashion of claiming players are only coming to United because of the money?

Do they think a 19 y/o is going sign a big contract then say ‘I’m just going to play shit now’.

Do they think players only have one team they want to play for and if they don’t get that team they’re only in it for the money?

Do people think the allure of playing for Barcelona is that great that they don’t spend 80% of turnover on wages? That they don’t pay Messi around £1m per week because he’d be happy to stay for a fraction of that if he had to?
Lots of great players turn to shit when they join United. Di Maria went from MOTM in the CL final to benched for Ashley Young. Sanchez went from 35 goals in a season at Arsenal to benched for Jesse Lingard. Fred went from highly sought after Brazilian international to benched for Scott McTominay. I think it's fair to say those 3 would have chosen PSG/City/City had it not been for us offering more money.

We've got excited about lots of signings over the last few years, most of whom have underperformed, or just fallen off completely. Even people like Pogba and Martial, who are classed by the fanbase as "hits" have underperformed. Depay was supposed to be our new Ronaldo, Scheiderlin was supposed to be our captain by now, Bailly was supposed to be our new rock at the back, Mkhi was supposed to be an assist machine, shit just never seems to work out for us in the transfer market these days. We all thought we'd hit the jackpot in the 2014, 2015 & 2016 transfer windows, all 3 looked exciting on paper, all 3 ended in failure.

No I don’t.

The theory is players only join certain clubs for money then don’t bother having a career if it’s not their favourite club. Which is clearly bollocks.

No idea what you’re meaning.

Again, this is in no way relevant to my point.

In fact, quite the opposite.

I try never to go full muppet but I can't help but feel he'll come here.
Staying in Barcelona I can tell you these guys believe their more than a club schtick. So if they feel someone is prioritising money over their sacred Barca philosophy they will walk away from him. So I think if he had to sign for Barca he would have done so by now. I really feel Utd have a real chance here.
