After this saga I am looking forward to the thread title ‘The could have been XI’ potentially featuring Thiago, De Ligt, Ramos, Hazard, Sneijder, Kroos, Griezmann, Perisic, Gaitan and Vidal.

Did football news that appeared on sky not at one point be factual or am I remembering wrong? I know Guilleme Bawbeg has the credibility of Mike Ashley but did he not just be a kind of sideshow, outreach programme?

First the caf gets hyped by tweets from random people on twitter and internet and believe (not really) he is coming here, though nothing concrete is there
Then the player goes to Barca
Then some people on caf will start using this as an example of our incompetence to sign a good player.

I'm such a mega muppet that I've already been cautioned in this thread because of my muppetness by the mods.
I will not give this a miss until the ink is dry on his contract and then it's on to the next muppet adventure.

Kevin posting back then too. Didn't really he was such a long time vet.

Respect to the veteran muppets. Will this thread make the classics like Sneijder et al? Can we have a muppet guide for possible new muppets who are embarking on their first Summer of F5s, ITKs, Mods, Sources and Sagas? A coping guide perhaps?
De Ligt is certainly worthy of all this attention. Even at 80M+, this is Rio territory and if signed and fit could be here for 12 years. A leader, good reading of the game, good feet and an eye for line-splitting pass with the tenacity in the oppo box of a John Terry.

Re: New ITK sources via Reddit.
I think the ITK challenge is a good idea and I like the tiers they have for sources already.
With everyone having access to media via smartphones, the days of old school sports journalism is a dying trend where one brief appearance anywhere or misplaced message et al, can provide a better insight on transfer activity than established sources, though they all have their place in salacious summer Muppetry.

Why the feck are those games so far away? That is miserable that is.

Best advice I can give to myself and everyone else is to completely forget about this saga, get drummed up about other possible signings and hopefully by the time those games end and he efficiently joins Barca, it won't be particularly heartbreaking.

Does it make sense for his future to be decided that late? I mean, he's going to want to go on holiday as well and then he'll have to move and what not, doesn't make sense.

It is becoming apparent that every agent is using Ed to get a better deal for the players where they actually want to be.

I don’t really know about the inner workings and I wish we would just go with the players we have decided on, rather than entertaining offers from agents who would like their players to be here.

Everyone in Spain: "He's going to United"

Everyone in England: "He's going to Barcelona"

Someone's probably right.

Every Journalist: I actually haven't got a clue what's going on but I have got to get them clicks or I'm fired.

Raiola and de Ligt are only fishing for more money from Barca, and unless we offer stupid money (Sanchez contract), he will sign for Barcelona (or City if they can offer him and Raiola more than Barcelona).

I would rather have Ake for half the fee and a quarter of the wages, than having another potentially harmful contract and more ties with Raiola.

No im grand. Who the feck are you anyway?

Who are you? The point of coming in with a completely pointless post was? He may end up at Barca but he certainly isn’t one yet and there’s nothing concrete saying that’s the case.

Ole publicly said himself "we could do with Stam and Ronny at back"

I'll leave you to it.

It used to mean something. Now it's absolute garbage.

I’ve never trusted them. Don’t know why anyone does tbh.

They could come out with a breaking story right now such as “sky sources understand that the world is going to end tomorrow” and I would still take it as a pinch of salt.

I just feel if he already chose Barca this whole thing would’ve been wrapped up by now. I really do think he’s in two minds and it’s a toss up between us and Barca
This is my line of thinking also. However, waiting until after the internationals sounds a bit fishy. Either way, I'm sure we'll hear a lot more from reliable people as the days go by.

"We will see what happens" and "I'm going to decide after" are two very different translations.

9th of June isn't far. For a seasoned muppet it's nothing. Are people seeing July when they read June? It's about 14 days from now.

So we shouldn’t sign any players to improve our squad?

Wtf?

It depends on if we will have a consistent philosophy and not keep going through different managers with different philosophy. It is better to buy players that aligns to our DoF vision than a manager that might be gone mid season. There are exceptions of course and some players can adopt to different philosophy, but a lot of times some manager would rather have players that suit their philosophy.

What do you propose we should do instead then mozart.

We have a coach that wants to play attacking football. High press, high entertainment and high risk. Should we continue with the players that were bought mostly to do the opposite?

I propose we get a DoF and form a transfer committee that dictates what players we should be signing. In all honesty, this should have been done during the season. Moreover a manager that actually has an attacking philosophy and is not a bad imitation of Mourinho’s own. You say we have a coach that wants to play attacking football, but I don’t see it. There should be clues of that but non exist beside the honeymoon period where McKenna and Carrick had more control of things. I would have done things differently in that, I would have gotten Pochettino in already and the transfer committee/club ambassador would be a selection of ex United players with a DoF being someone whose vision aligned with Pochettino.

What’s the latest lads? Is it too early to request a user name change to TheLit?

Not particularly convinced that Solskjaer is anything like that kind of coach.

You'd believe it if they went big on United signing him tbf. People tend to believe what they want and change their opinion on reporters if it suits their agenda. For instance if sky sources had said it was a done deal for United you'd all be like, well Balague called pogba right when we were after him blah blah. Because he's said something people don't like, all of the stuff that hasn't come off is dragged up in reference to how much he knows

No I wouldn’t.

I wouldn’t trust sky sources as far as I could throw them.

Positive or negative news, it doesn’t matter to me - they know Jack s***

Whether that being “sky sources understands that Manchester United are about to appoint Pep Guardiola as the new manager & Lionel Messi is to be his first signing” or “sky sources understand that Manchester United are about to appoint Tony Pulis as the new manager & Yaya Sanogo is to become his first and only signing.

"We will see what happens" and "I'm going to decide after" are two very different translations.

In his own video he says "First we have two games (meaning Netherlands) and after that I see what happens next"
