His workrate was fine but he offers nothing in attack.
Good defender. Barrow is a tricky winger and he won that battle. Still gives away too many fouls in non-dangerous situations though. Needs to pick his battles a bit better.
Thought he did very well today, though he really needs to work on his crossing.
If he is content to stay as a back up full back, Im OK with that
HE was fine
Like I said in the Young thread, maybe we shoudl start appreciating our squad players a bit more

I thought he did really well today. He played a lot higher up the pitch and was like a wing back in many ways.
When Valencia returns I think we will see a big improvement as Valencia and Darmian like to go up the pitch and cause a bit of chaos.
With Blind and Shaw on the left hand side we lack anything remotely resembling a threat. I know Darmian didn't put in good crosses today but he pulled the defenders apart at times which created space for our team to get the goals e.g. Ibras first.
It was only one way traffic on the right hand side with Valencia. Now we can have some of the ball go down on the left with Darmian.
He definetly won't be sold in January, as Shaw and Blind are not Mourinhos taste.
Do we consider Darmian as our best LB right now?
very average player at best, Valencia would absolutely destroy the pathetic Swansea team, yes you can't say he was not trying but the only thing he's good at is maybe his tackling but only under certain circumstances because he can be easily outdribbled and outpaced and he wasn't tested at all today, if anything he was tested offensively and he was poor as his crossing is mostly shocking, his overlapping is also pointless when he can't put in a decent cross and can't take a good quick touch to get past player mainly because he lacks in pace too
I mean praise a player against gutless and soon championship side but don't jump the gun and say he's good enough, much bigger tests will come which will confirm that he should be sold in January/ summer as soon as we get some bid for him, he can hardly get significantly better
Valencia hasn't "destroyed" any team offensively in years so what are you on about? He's not as blunt offensively as Darmian but that's not saying much.very average player at best, Valencia would absolutely destroy the pathetic Swansea team, yes you can't say he was not trying but the only thing he's good at is maybe his tackling but only under certain circumstances because he can be easily outdribbled and outpaced and he wasn't tested at all today, if anything he was tested offensively and he was poor as his crossing is mostly shocking, his overlapping is also pointless when he can't put in a decent cross and can't take a good quick touch to get past player mainly because he lacks in pace too

he would cut inside and score goals like GarethYou try playing Valencia on the left wing and see what he does.

Valencia is both better defensively and offensively than Darmian, period. Swansea were very easy to penetrate today and Valcnia would provide much needed width from the fullback position which Darmian can't as he simply can't match Valencia speed, with Carrick, Pogba and Rooney all capable of that crossfield pass I am sure Valencia would be more menacing. Last couple of games it was Valencia back to his best but yeah Mancity and Liverpool are much harder to exploit than piss poor SwanseaValencia hasn't "destroyed" any team offensively in years so what are you on about? Why you Valencia bashing? He's been our best player by a mile this season. Darmain is a mile of Valencia.
I stated he is better offensively than Darmian, it was your statement that Valencia would "destroy" Swansea and using that against Darmian that was laughable.Valencia is both better defensively and offensively than Darmian, period. Not good enough going forward for me. Neither is Shaw for that matter.
We need a pacey RB in the mold of Dani Alves. Someone who will overlap and cross the ball in. But who is there like that? I haven't seen much of Fabinho but he seems to be the preferred choice.
Maybe we could do a player+cash deal with Roma for Florenzi? Or just bring Varela back. He looked good last season.

I'm not bashing Valencia, I'm just saying that playing a right footed player on the left side and expect him to cross the ball is a bit unfair. Darmian almost won us a penalty in the last game when he played right back, which isn't half bad unless you are comparing his attacking output to a player who is a right winger playing right back.
It was you doing the comparisons and now this comparison Is daft as well. Judge both them on merit in the position they are selected. Truth be told Valencia is miles better than Darmain at right back on performances we have seen.
No it wasn't. I started off by quoting someone who said Valencia would have destroyed Swansea.
You said try playing Valencia on left was that not to mean in comparison to Darmains performance? If not I stand corrected! Then I'm not sure what you were meaning.
I was merely pointing out it's hard to fault Darmian for his lack of crosses when he's played out of position.
he would definitely bullied them offensively, he's not good enough for a winger and that's maybe people have too many expectations, on one hand ppl are saying he's not defender when he makes defensive error and when he's not beating players he's all of a sudden shit going forward.. offensively he's been good lately and Swansea away was one of those games where he would get space and time to get forward even more..I stated he is better offensively than Darmian, it was your statement that Valencia would "destroy" Swansea and using that against Darmian that was laughable.
Especially considering Valencia hasn't terrorised a side in years and after all its his offensive bluntness that has resulted in him being turned into a fullback in the first place.
