Sure but then one has to consider the player's attitude as well. Hence why someone like chicarito would do better then the current dumb and dumber upfront.

Hojlund seen to have launched a private crusade with the opponent CBs. He is more interested in winning duels against them rather then score. Zirkzee on the other hand is scared to enter the opponent's small box. FFS it's almost like he believes that Vinnie Jones, Roy Keane and the butcher of Bilbao are waiting for him there to mess him up.

At that point yes. That only changed because Tottenham offered a full transfer for him. Without that I think Bayern would have accepted loan + option.

There is nothing indicating that but your wishful thinking. I very much doubt Bayern would have been dumb enough to go along with it. It'd have dumped all the risk for their side, with United then holding all the cards. It'd go against all their established procedures how they have acted with their past talents and what they have shown to accept for Tel, too.

And honestly, United is one of the last bigger clubs in Europe where I'd want to send a young talent out on loan to. The risk of burning their value and get little gain for the player out of playing for a widely dysfunctional team is way too high.

They supposedly accepted a straight loan from Frankfurt. Tel rejected.

Tottenham came in with a bid. Bayern accepted, Tel rejected.

United offer a loan and an option to buy. Tel wants the move but Bayern turns it down wanting an obligation or outright sale.

Again: a loan with an option to buy is way worse from Bayern's point of view, of course it is way less likely to be accepted by them, no matter if there was an offer for a loan and obligation inbetween. I don't know why that seems so hard to understand.
Your little timeline of events does not change that at all, and neither does it in any way indicate that your wish of a loan with option would have ever happened without Spurs' offer. Neither does it indicate that Bayern would not still be cool with a pure loan.
 
This season is a totall and utter write off. We may as well save the money and give some young players a go and try to win the EL and FA cup and plan like feck for the next two years to eventually build a squad robust and hungry enough to compete in the league. It's not the manager running the club anymore, we as fans have to get used to it. Most of what's going on is going to be out of his control ultimately. This is thinking longer term hopefully which is what we all wanted so we need to develop players in house and mostly not miss out on your Cacideos, Avarez, Haalands anymore and then still have big money ready for when perfect opportunities arise for players in their prime in the future. Like Kane etc.

all this various damage limitation and compromise in crisis after crisis giving under fire managers some of what they need for their preferred system from window to window is what has us where we are. Shite loans from smaller clubs than us that never work out. Work with that so. Tragically I also really don't see us going for another back 5 coach if RA doesn't work out but at least Dorgu looks like he can slot in all over the pitch and will at least be a valuable squad player whatever happens. That's where we are at now. Limbo.

It is absolutely not a write off. We are in the Europa League, if we win that, we have CL football. We have every opportunity to salvage our season.

Why don't we just straight loan him then. And if he's good we can see at the end of the season if we want to make an offer. Seems stupid to miss out on a player we presumably feel will improve us now, because we haven't negotiated first dibs.

It's a loan with no obligation to buy, so exactly what we wanted. What is happening to our club, I think people need to start moving into panic mode, we're on path to be relegated and our ownership is content with the squad and letting our managers targets go to our rivals.

I don't know, ask the United bosses. Unless those tweets that were just posted are somehow nonsense, Bayern were clearly open to a pure loan.

I think we wanted an option to buy...everyone seemed to say we wouldnt be looking at short term fixes with no long term plan - a straight loan with no option wouldnt of achieved this
