"Yes, at the end of the transfer window they came in," Debuchy, who instead joined Bordeaux on loan, told Canal Plus . "They contacted my agents. I was disappointed, obviously. If I had the chance to go to Manchester United it would have been magnificent.

"Unfortunately it wasn't the case. I discussed it with the coach too, who said that obviously he couldn't help out a rival.

"I'm a little bit annoyed by him [Wenger]. It's his choice. I came back well this summer, I had a good preseason.

"I was able to talk to him to know my future at Arsenal. He said that I would have game time and that we would discuss it in December. Unfortunately, I didn't have this game time."

Interesting that Wenger was unwilling to business with us despite United allowing the likes of Silvestre (:p) and Welbeck go the other way.

dodged a bullet here, thank you wenger, on the other hand he might have been a slight upgrade on Darmian

Never really rated debuchy, would be a very average transfer in an area, proportionately we are very strong in. Shaw, Rojo, Blind, CBJ, Darmian, Valencia, ashley young, Varela. thats 8 players involved with the first team this year who have been for the most part very capable full backs. its not a position of worry.

So you haven't noticed that those players have been dropping like flies? We were looking for cover.

No it was smart

It would have killed him to lose rvp to us just like it hurt and angered me when we let welbeck join them

Although it's only debuchy I don't blame we get at all...I was pretty disappointed with fergie when he sold him soil silvestre

Presumably it would've been a loan deal so not the worst idea in the world, considering Darmian's lack of consistency/inability to stay fit.

I won't be losing any sleep over it though, he's not very good.

Debuchy would be a very short term fix, is it really the full back position for the next month thats effecting are ability to get points? CBJ and verla have had decent cameo's and its only a matter of time before others in that list become available, they havent all had season ending injuries, wasn't it only Valencia whose out long term? (obviously shaw).

He'd have been a decent short term loan to cover the other 20-odd full backs who are currently injured, and especially since the two first choice RBs are out long term. Varela looks reasonable but shows significant signs of inexperience just now.

Feck Wenger, we have been pretty generous to them as far as selling them players and paying top dollar for RvP.
Not that im gutted me missed out of Debuchy or anything, it's more the principle than anything.

It's worrying when our stupid excuse for a manager actually gives the go ahead to go out and try get another bang average player to put with the rest.

The dozy twat Wenger has finally learnt you don't boost your rivals!

we are being linked with so many average full backs - why?

Who else do you think we can just easily go and get in? A loan for a proven premier league defender seems a smart move.

Darmian is made out of glass, and pretty much anyone who plays at full back for us gets crocked.

Debuchy has a terrible mentality and always gets booked. He has such little respect for his team, from Newcastle to Arsenal to Bordeaux. It just shows more incompetence in our transfer planning by Woodward the plank.

I doubt Ed Woodward was the one suggesting we sign Debuchy. He's probably never heard of him.

It's worrying you don't seem to understand this was for emergency cover, you aren't going go get better quality cover in January.

I'm just flattered he considers us rivals this year.

Regardless of whether he was good enough or not it is interesting that Wenger blocked the transfer while Welbeck was allowed to join them. Welbeck is a better player than Debuchy. Chelsea also allowed Cech to join Arsenal. Does no one consider Arsenal a threat?

Maybe he is still bitter over the RvP transfer.

Mourinho blocked us signing Ba on loan and fought vehemently to block Cech but Abramovich gave him a pass out of respect for his service.

Vermaelen last to last summer and now Debuchy: thanks Wenger, you keep blocking them. It's good to know that there is someone looking out for us while we have a bunch of idiots running this club.

Surprised that if this is true as he had his last competitive game probably a year ago. LvG had the same comment about Ashley Cole.

Silvestre? Come on.

He was their only signing that season, and was quite crap for them.

He had long since past usefulness for us, or any proper team challenging for trophies.

I think he was the only realistic option available in the Jan window, must have been trying to get him on loan. But he's just as injury prone, so probably a good thing we din't get him.

I'm just flattered he considers us rivals this year.

I don't know who is available. I'm not privy to that information. I can however name a lot of right backs that are better than Debuchy.

Yes so can I, but what on earth does that have to do with players who were available in January?

Are you saying Debuchy was the only right back available in the January transfer window, good enough to play for United?

I'm sure there were others.

Regardless, it's irrelevant now anyways. We didn't sign him so this debate is pointless

No I asked you who the alternatives were? You told me you knew of better full backs. I said naming better full backs has nothing to do with it. You then accused me of saying he was the only available player of his ilk & quality.

I'm sure the club explored many options. He was the best available last minute option. On a loan deal, he'd have been good cover.

A shame we didn't let him join you, would have been amusing to watch him ruin any top 4 ambitions you may have ;)
