Nope, Rudiger was focused on Salah. The only time mount picked Trent up was when Chelsea was pressing. When Chelsea were defending deep he certainly wasn't chasing around, instead he was being a nuisance in midfield.

Grealish is clearly important to what his team achieved this season, would have said Foden and Sterling too but city are so good that they can achieve without these players too.
Chelsea spend most of the time out of possession pressing, especially since Tuchel's arrived. It mostly depended on Salah's positioning - when he was wide, Chilwell stepped out to him, when he dropped into midfield Mount picked him up, and when he attacked the right channel he was Rudiger's responsibility. Also, TAA doesn't overlap all that frequently; he stays deeper in midfield to put in early crosses placing him squarely in Mount's zone. It's hardly like TAA is the most mobile player anyhow.
Totally disagree with that - out of those 4 you compare him with he is the least impressive player in my opinion.

No, since the new manager came. Without Mount, Chelsea wouldn't have had so much recent success.
I don't know about being better than that lot but I'm so pleased he's doing well under Tuchel, if only to shut the "He's Lampard's son" sillyness.

I'm honestly trying to understand why? He doesn't score much, doesn't create much and defensively they'd be brilliant with or without him. He's playing well but far from amazing. Certainly not what the likes of Grealish, Foden and Maddison have produced this season.
I will literally never forgive Chelsea for recalling him from us mid-season just to send him on loan to another Championship club. Pretty much the reason we got relegated.
He's 3rd in shot creating actions in the whole league, behind only Grealish and Bruno. He's also 3rd in pressures in the league, behind only Hojberg and Bruno. Those other 3 mentioned all probably have a higher ceiling attacking-wise, but Mount's all around game and versatility are what makes him so valuable.

It's hard to say given how much is left to be played this year and it depends on the system as well. I'd argue Mount should be in the squad 100% given his ability to fill multiple roles though. I also think that if England want to use a 3 man midfield Mount should probably be one of the 8s; not sure there are many better options there. It'd be harder to justify playing him in one of the wide positions if you ask me.
Yeah 100% in the squad. His versatility, like you say, and his work rate make him ideal for a squad in a tournament scenario.
If we go with a midfield 3 it seems like Rice and Henderson (injury permitting) are the two definites for Southgate. Leaving room for a creative attacking midfielder.
I’d just struggle to fit Mount into that position ahead of someone like Foden who I think has a higher ceiling:

Sterling - Foden - Grealish
Kane
with Mount the first choice option to replace any of the midfielders seems a reasonable selection of roles. A lot can change between now and the end of the season though.
Mount really is a manager’s dream of a player; hard-working, tactically switched on, skilful, productive and able to play a few different positions.
I could get behind that, I guess Foden/Mount could be rotated depending on the opposition. Against weaker teams or when you can afford to go more attacking there is Foden, using Mount for a more balanced set up in games you'll see less of the ball...
I don't get why you'd play Henderson and Rice, no top international side would be the least bit worried if those were our two CMs.

I think you'll find that the Kamehameha is *adjusts glasses* a special attack created by Master Roshi and taught to Goku.

He was unfortunate. He became a meme essentially because Southgate preferred him to Grealish & the fans were desperate to see Grealish. I remember a reporter asking how he thought Grealish played & Southgate dodged the question & praised Mount.
I assume it was similar with Lampard preferring him to the exciting new signings at Chelsea. None of it was his fault. He’s a good player.
If he keeps up his current form he’s almost a lock to start. Southgate was starting him when he wasn’t in this kind of form.
Ah ok, make's sense. It really depends if he continues with the 5 at the back nonsense. But I'd probably have a similar line up maybe having Foden or Mount slightly deeper. For me the point of Rice is that he's basically an extra CB, so you need energy next to him but not as defensive as a Henderson.

Foden is flashier and as a result gets more social media/football journalist love, but I think Mount's versatility and relentless workrate will see him starting ahead of him for England.
