Mason Mount

He is destined to be one of those players that gets unnecessarily overrated by the media and then grossly underrated by oppo fans.

Definitely this. He is not as great as the media portrays and not as bad as some in this forum are alluding to. Some are probably judging him in this one game as they don't watch him regularly.

I think he's great. Who is he overrated compared to? I've never heard him in conversations with KDB or players of that ilk. Its easy to see why every coach likes him, on a very simple level he can score, create, is tactically flexible and works hard on and off the ball.

To me he's a better version of the good lingard that we saw in 2017/18 and at West Ham.

If Mount was playing for another team and Chelsea were offered a chance to sign him, I honestly think they wouldn't do it.
You don't win leagues with Mount in your starting 11. Hes that awkward youth player that's an undoubted success and is just too good to replace with a big signing but just not good enough to play for a side who can consistently win the league.
He is their Coutinho or even Rashford is a better example.
But you can win a champions League with him in your side

Didn't he assist the winner last season?

Good player that suffers in the opinion of oppo fans because he looks like a recruitment consultant.

This is the Mason Mount thread. There's some interesting points in the Havertz thread (made by you in do fact!).

Kai Havertz - Chelsea performances

I like Mason Mount. I feel like people jump on him because they remind some people of Lingard or what they feel is an overrated English player.

I disagree with that and personally find that Havertz produces less for me even without taking in to consideration how much he costs. If Havertz was home grown then I don't think he would be viewed like he does.

7 goals and 3 assists this season. Mount has 11 goals and 10 assists in comparison.

The difference is just insane.

I don't think Havertz is useless and his movement is very good but still, I don't see how people can sit their pointing at Mount when Havertz is well, not that great either.

What do you mean by this? And why do I feel attacked?
 nothing personal, I promise! Some of my closest friends are recruitment consultants (I'm aware how closely that logic mirrors 'I'm not racist, I have a lot of black friends' so will leave it there!)

So play him to get to the final and drop him when recieving the final.

Gotcha!

Top assister and goal scorer for Chelsea. He is certainly not the issue that Chelsea need to be looking at.

People like to compare him to Foden, like Foden is the second coming and Grealish because they’re English and it’s lazy comparisons. The trouble this boy has, is that he will just be automatically hated for being himself, much like Lampard was at West Ham.

I feel like he doesn’t really have a direct comparison with anyone. He has a little Oscar in him, a little Lingard etc etc but his style is his own and that’s why people misunderstand him. People here will either over rate him or severely under rate him and the truth is, he is a little more in the middle.

Overall he is a intelligent player that plays between the lines with output that would be increased if we could actually hit a barn door. He has areas to improve like every player but he will have a decent career.

Im sure theres many players that can make an impression in cup wins? Hence Chelsea being miles back in the league despite being a CL winning side

When you add in the 3 that he's won, that's a lot of finals experience for someone who's 23. Wonder how many he'll have played in by the end of his career. Tuchel seems especially good at getting them to finals, even if they don't always win them.

:wenger::lol: Want to try re-reading the first few words? Or do you need me to draw it for you with crayons?

You bumped the thread after he missed a penalty in a shootout, so my point is entirely correct. Laughable timing in an attempt to validate your shitty opinion. Probably because he's been very good this season and you haven't had the opportunity to do so any other time, I'm guessing.

Or he bumped it after what he thought was a poor performance?

Speaking about the game as a whole. Try again

You can win a cl with Traore in your side. Beat Barcelona 4-0 at home in a crunch tie with Origi scoring a brace. And then watch Origi score in the final too.

I've been trying to think of an analogous situation and I think the closest I can think of is giuly. Clearly not as good as his team mates, stayed in the team because he delivered regularly and was always switched on.

As soon as someone genuinely top class came in, he never for another sniff at regular starts and wasn't missed.

Difference is that giuly was surrounded by true world class players. Chelsea need to upgrade to consistently challenge for big trophies.

mount is the type of guy that will spend his pay day paycheque plying a girl with champagne and listening to her bitch about her friends and ex. he’ll dance with her, he’ll hold her bag whilst she goes to the toilet and at 1:55am, when the bouncers are ushering everyone out, he’ll be watching on as she’s getting fingered in a booth by a more strapping lad.

Chelsea won the league with Victor Moses playing loads of games. We won the league with Oscar playing loads of games.

The idea that Mount isn't good enough is laughable.

Magnificent

Back to back Chelsea player of the season.

Not sure why this lad gets constantly doubted. Scores goals, creates goals, works hard, technically good. What more could you want in an offensive midfielder? His talent falls short of being a superstar but he's a very good cog to have in your team. Not for England though, unless Southgate changes things, he doesn't really fit into the side as a forward player where there are more dynamic options or as a midfielder in those deep roles.

First Kante, now Mount. Can we skip all their midfielders and offer them a shitload for James? Chuck in Wan Bissaka too. Heck, Dalot as well.

Think his movement is extremely underrated. Intelligent player, but not sure how exactly he'd fit in here. Even if we go 5-3-2 Chelsea style (the Timber signing will give us the necessary depth at CB), we'll play something like:

-------- FdJ --- Fred ------------
-- Bruno ------- Sancho -----
------------ Ronaldo -------------
