I still think it’s irrelevant, no where near the same levelBut by excusing (or even glorifying) his behaviour - which let's be honest the commentators basically snickered away about the whole thing - it validates and gives permission for sports gambling. And while I suppose it technically isn't physically hitting anyone, it ruins plenty of lives.
Again OJ was found guilty by civil court, he is officially a murderer plus all evidence is publicly available so people have all the info required to make a fair judgement themselves
Clearly this is completely different to the Greenwood case and it really shouldn't be used as some kind of comparison
What point are you trying to make here? What bearing does Ronaldo allegedly raping someone have on how we should think about/deal with Greenwood? He paid her to be quiet, and those leaked emails in which he testifies about continuing with sexual act although she says no multiple times aren't enough?
Hypocrisy at it finest.
Sorry should've made it clearer I was replying with a personal stance to the idea we should change our minds if he comes back.
Because this is a thread about a footballer accused of domestic violence, who may well return to British football, and recently another footballer who was found guilty of gambling came back to British football, and was given a certain reception by the media. A contrast can be struck between the media treatment of one versus the other, which can be enriching for this discussion? Especially when considering how Mason might be treated by hte same media upon a hypothetical return.

What is your point here? Greenwood should come back because people didn't protest enough against Ronaldo coming back?He paid her to be quiet, and those leaked emails in which he testifies about continuing with sexual act although she says no multiple times aren't enough?
Hypocrisy at it finest.

It's not hypocritical if people weren't aware. People tune out from a lot of the news for their sanity. The Greenwood case stood apart as it had more impactful evidence.
Cristiano is most followed sportsman in the world, kind of hard to imagine people were unaware of his wrongdoings.
What's the problem? Only the reverse is a problem. Surely it's a good thing now people don't want someone associated with that behaviour at the club?Really, you don't see the problem with that?
People are suddenly offended by prospect of having alleged rapist play for the club all while they cheered alleged rapist playing for that same club just a year ago.
It just shows that people pick and choose when they are going to hold some kind of moral ground.
We had one alleged rapist play for United, people were estatic because he's great player, and then suddenly other player accused of similar crime is hard pass? Must be the case of my alleged rapist is better football player than yours alleged rapist to let that slide.

I was certainly aware of it. Like I am with so many, Benzema, Ribery, Mendy, etc, but I honestly couldn't give you the details of any of them. I did however see the face of a badly bruised woman in the MG case, as well as the shocking audio, which is honestly one of the most disturbing things I've heard. . If you can't see how that would elevate a story then there's nothing I can say.
They are all scumbs, some more, some less, but there isn't consistency neither with people at the club neither with supporters in the handling of those people and that's my point.
Maybe CR had a better team handling the legal side and the PR, he definitely couldn't have anyone worse. There are many possible factors.
So what's your point? We should have no alleged rapists or more or that it's not worth having an opinion on?
There is a chance that as time moves on we will as a society have zero tolerance for domestic violence. We are more open about condemning it than previous generations which is great.
But, again, what's your point in the MG thread? That we should take Greenwood back because we took Ronaldo back? This take comes up again and again and it never cease to be stupid: unless you're against everything X, you can't believe Y. It's reductive and dumb.Really, you don't see the problem with that?

I had no idea about this until after her was back. I think you'll find that goes for many. Maybe you just follow Ronaldo closer than most for some reason.Cristiano is most followed sportsman in the world, kind of hard to imagine people were unaware of his wrongdoings.
The sooner the better, but it has nothing with this particular case.
Cristiano was let of the hook way to easily just because he's Cristiano Ronaldo, and it shows that people pick and choose their agenda whenever it suits them.
This argument is abit silly. We can’t just pretend that the audio evidence isn’t different from other evidence when it clearly is. If that evidence had never leaked and instead we just heard about the alleged crime through other channels there’s no way he would have been banned and it all would have been swept aside. Not saying it’s right but that’s the reality of the situation.
All that only to be second to Messi whole career
Imagine both Cristiano and Messi retiring only to Romario to unretire (word?) and tells the world that he kept training all the time waiting for them tl retire so he can make comeback and play until he's 80y old. He doesn't manage to score enough goals and Messi finishes as first. Could make s movie!
Charges against Greenwood dropped because key witnesses had withdrawn and new evidence came to light. Does anyone know what the new evidence was? I suspect its the full audio recording.

Who are these people? Not me. I can't stand Ronaldo. I even thought he was a bit of a dick the first time he was here.
I didn't want him back and I wasn't that interested in yet more "footballer behaving like scum" allegations.
Does my reaction to the MG leaked media make me a hypocrite.
You say the sooner the better on zero tolerance but seem more focused on the apparent hypocrisy. That's weird.
@Black Adder
So these posters that wanted Ronaldo back. who also had knowledge of his wrongdoings and don't want Greenwood back because of his wrongdoings, who are they?
Can you name them please?
I think @Black Adder contributions in the Ronaldo thread shed a little more light on their motivations here. Just a couple to give a sense of it:
If you're so interested find them yourselves.
Any "all touches" video (pun not intended) of MG against Real Madrid?
Cristiano wasn't exactly let off the hook, but if there was images, audio and video like with MG you can sure as shit bet there would have been an outcry. But you're seemingly ignoring the actual evidence against MG that CR doesn't have to suit your own agenda. The sooner the better, but it has nothing with this particular case.

Yeah I really can't stand the guy, never liked him and never wanted him back. Sorry to offend your personal hero

Yet, you would take Mason back. And you are sure it's us who are the hypocrites?
This kind of thing at the end of a reply really ruins the rest of the response. It’s just not needed and childish.
There was someone else who said all the mods want to hang Greenwood. I don’t understand the rush to hyperbole.
Yet, you would take Mason back. And you are sure it's us who are the hypocrites?
Hi Moses, I couldn’t find the answers. Appreciate if you can shed light on my questionsCan you just read the thread or the internet rather than start the whole thing off again?
Hi Moses, I couldn’t find the answers. Appreciate if you can shed light on my questions
- What was the new evidence that made the CPS dropped all the charges?
- Why the audio and the photographs were not enough to send Greenwood to court?
- Was there another recording that were not made public?
