Not quite to the same extent. You've faced some public backlash on an internet forum, so now you know what David Beckham and Mason Greenwood went through.

Oh silly me. I hope that I have the mental strength to perform at work tomorrow, a la Beckham and Greenwood.Public backlash is public backlash, as we have learned.

Tbf no matter what we think of him that Red looked absolute nonsense
Not at all. I made my point. Nothing more to say.Take the L.
You have been shown for what you are, stop digging
Public backlash is public backlash. It's difficult to overcome regardless of the circumstance that surrounds it. A very simple point that I cannot believe some are struggling to comprehend.
Does the loan have a break clause? I.e. if there's genuine interest in him now, could he be sold in January?
Apparently yes and it had been reported that Getafe would be due 20% of any sale fee, seems crazy to me that the club agreed to this but possible since they left it so late to get a loan deal.

I have no idea why this very simple point has created such a push back.
Lots of disingenuous replies
The Beckham comparison is apt because he is the United player who had to endure the worst public backlash that I can remember and he did amazingly well to come out even stronger.
I actually doubt that Greenwood's return could be worse in terms of reaction from opposition fans but, as has been pointed out, the big difference was that pretty much all United fans supported Becks whereas this clearly isn't the case with Greenwood.

Yeah, that clause is mind-blowing, we obviously fecked up with the whole thing.
I haven't read any of the stories but seen various headlines suggesting that the bigger clubs in Spain are all interested. Not sure if there's any truth to those rumours though.

We have two options come summer as he'll had one year left on his deal, sell for a modest fee with a high % sell on, or offer him a new contract.I doubt it's true - he's done well enough for various clubs to start keeping tabs on his situation but it's still early days in his return so I cant see any big club taking a punt in this window.
If the 20% thing is true then it actually makes it less likely that United would sell him - most likely scenario is that he stays at Getafe until summer and then reassess.

So you don't think context applies also? Come on now.
Those "rumours" are from UK papers too. The same papers who are apparently the enemy here. Make minds up.

Not to the point being made - I guess you just didnt understand the point and went off on some random tangent making up stuff that no one said instead
I think you've mixed a few posters up here. At the very least I have no recollection of saying the UK papers are the enemy. Bunch of cnuts, yes. But from a United perspective I wouldn't call them "the enemy". Maybe from the perspective of the citizenry, but that's another discussion.
F off apparentlyI didn't mean it should be a straight red. I just described what happened. The fact it was a red is ridiculous to be honest. We don't know what he told him though.
Or extend for 12 monthsWe have two options come summer as he'll had one year left on his deal, sell for a modest fee with a high % sell on, or offer him a new contract.
Definitely fair. In the Summer we had no hope of getting anything for him and, even if we had somehow got an offer, the media were already taking the ridiculous stance we shouldn’t take any money for him. Getafe have taken the risk on him, basically done an amazing job of showing any other club that he’s an asset and made it near impossible for the media to argue it’s inappropriate for him to be sold for a few. They fully deserve their cut.
Ye I guess it makes sense from that perspective
It's a feck up from the club leaving it idiotically late to sort out his future so I guess they had no option but to agree this kind of crazy offer, not clear on the exact details of the 20% clause though and how long it is valid for
So you think it was the club leaving it last minute, and not the lack of offers?
Because if so, what would stop other clubs coming in at the last minute? Like we have done ourselves before?
It doesn't make sense that Gatafe would get him and for that sort of deal, yet no one else could.
Well one leads to the other basically
I would assume the same deal was on offer to others, but the club basically had 10 days to find him a club and after 18 months out I would not expect a queue of clubs ready to take the gamble
I guess it has paid off for Getafe though
Referee's report on Greenwood red card (shame we dont get the same in England so quickly after a match):
https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futb...greenwood-arbitro-expulsado-roja-directa.html
“In the 50th minute, Getafe player Mason Greenwood was sent off for the following reason: for addressing me in protest and raising his arm, in the following terms: “f*** you!”. Once expelled, he puts his finger to his temple, making a repeated gesture as a sign of disagreement with the decision made.”
You've faced some public backlash on an internet forum, so now you know what David Beckham and Mason Greenwood went through.
Shouldn't Bellingham then have seen a number of reds? He mouths off constantly.
Tbf he did get fouled once or twice in that run and ref did nothing. A red card for dissent is incredibly harsh.
Read somewhere that getafe have the worst losing record when this ref is in their games
3 red cards in one game is ridiculous.
Yes you can. You're letting your dislike for the man cloud your judgement.Tell a ref to feck off especially with such repeated hand gestures, and you can't really complain at getting sent off.
Literally happens every game in the PL. Seen our players do it so many times.Tell a ref to feck off especially with such repeated hand gestures, and you can't really complain at getting sent off.
The thought crossed my mind, whether it’s personal
Feck it, I'll bite...maybe the Ref doesn't like rapey little narcissists.
