Mason Greenwood | Officially a Marseille player

Nonsense. Most, if not all, decent United fans will remember.

It's also a lot easier to drift out of the public conscious when you're in the music industry, especially when you're not exactly mainstream.

Is that how Chris Brown has all these women loving him then? Or is it people just don’t care for Rihanna much?

La Liga is a difficult league. Martial thought he’d be on easy street there at Sevilla and couldn’t hack it at all. An easier league with less scrutiny like Turkey would have probably been the better next step for his career.
Disagree, lower teams is LL are genuine dross now. I used to watch Getafe when I lived in Spain and the standard wasn’t great then but it’s worse now. Unsure how MG will be after not playing for so long but he has every chance if he’s still fit of being successful.

Good move. I guess if he can find his form again and get his shit together he can rejoin us in a year under the ownership. Nobody will care in a year anyway.
And then we will take him back. No surprise it is a loan only

You’re making out his talent is an issue. He’ll absolutely tear it up after a few months of acclimatisation.

Well, redcafe is the only place where the majority of people want him gone or despise him.
The majority in every other platform - Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, website comment sections, want Greenwood back.

If he smashes it in Spain, the floodwaves of "keep him" comments will be even more massive.

It's interesting phenomenon.

Some outstanding levels of defamation, as well as nastiness sublimated into indignation, going on here in between the more reasonable comments. Perhaps those flagrantly referring to MG as this or that might wish to briefly research the difference between an allegation (in this case the allegations of physical and sexual violence, which the CPS eventually found there to be insufficient evidence to even take to trial, crucially with key evidence reframing the material available to the public rather than Simply witness withdrawals; then an independent, and protracted, Club investigation) and a fact. Tweet volume doesn't establish a thing as true.

I don't know if he''s guilty or not, but I do know that I don't have access to that available evidence and it's 99.9% likely that no-one else on here does either: the lawyers and senior club officials who have been privy to it decided that the weight of that evidence lay in his favour. If you think this amounted to a simple witness statement withdrawing the allegation, then I don't know what to tell you-- in theory yes, but...it's unlikely, to put it mildly, given the previous evidence. The same evidence which those railing against him repeat incessantly. Do you think the CPS just decides something as high-profile as this to not be in the public interest to prosecute when they have audio and images, and in the wake of Me Too etc unless there are serious grounds for a significantly different interpretation.

There are a number of facts actually established about MG's conduct (particularly with regards to training ground activity, previous abuse), for which he's apologized. You can deem those apologies sincere or not. Physical abuse and attempted rape, however, haven't been established -hence why he's free, for one, and hence why , prior to the social media storm, the club deemed it feasible to reintegrate him... again, based upon legal advice. Hope no-one stating refuted allegations as fact works in the legal profession ...

On the other hand, he can expect a decent amount of scrutiny - some of which is based upon actually corroborated previous conduct - so I hope he knuckles down and does OK for the sake of his family as well as for the sake of...the principle of rehabilitation and change.

This needs to be quoted again.

Those platforms you mentioned are filled with idiots so it's difficult to use them to hypothesise any decisions that involve any sense of morality.

Putting aside my feelings on what the lad did, which is obviously disgusting, this whole saga and it’s conclusion is just such a reflection of the club and how we operate and the state of the British media… the fake outrage at United, but zero outrage for Getafe for signing him for example.. if they actually cared what he did they’d be hounding that club like dogs, they were falling over themselves in the media when it looked like he might return… a Spanish club? Oh ok.. fair enough, too busy being offended by something else anyway…. NEXT!
The whole thing boils down to the fact that he’s a very good player and oppo fans didn’t want him playing for us anymore, if he was a squad player nobody would have given a feck except United fans.
If they wanted to get rid of him, it should have been done months ago.
if they wanted to keep him, it shouldn’t have been affected at the last minute by Rachel bloody Riley… it’s just another example of how weak we are as a club

That is absolutely categorically not true.

One you just made up.

It's spot on but at the same time it's beneath us. The lad is an absolute cnut as far as I'm concerned, but I hope he can learn from his cnutish (and completely immoral) behaviour away from United and do good by his missus and child.

This is why I wanted him released and definitely gone for good. This is going to rumble on now with a last minute loan.

It’s in the club’s interest for MG to have a great season with Getafe. With all the FFP issues, if MG performs very well, the club can get good fee for him and reinvest. Hopefully this will be the case.

This stupid club had a £30m bid for McTominay and turned it down.

He's a horrible cnut and I'm glad he's gone. It's mad that it took the club so long to get to this point, when it was painfully obvious that this was the only possible outcome. I hope for the sake of his family that he sorts himself out, but I don't ever want to see him near United again. Hopefully, he does well enough on loan for Getafe to make it permanent and we can draw a line under this whole sorry affair.

Why would the British media care about him going to Spain?

It's very much an out of sight, out of mind situation.

Have no interest in defending his actions, instinctively wouldn't want him anywhere near my family or friends, but he is 21, if he has learned from this and taken steps to become a better human being then rehabilitation is part of that process. Don't see him ever playing for Utd (or England) again.

It is hard to judge the feeling of our fan base based on redcafe. The football debate is good and varied, but anything with a political edge becomes an echo chamber quite quickly, where there’s clearly a ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ opinion to have.

Oh to be someone who didn't do some moronic fecked up shit when they were 20.

Not excusing it, but I'm glad that some of the stuff I did when I was 19/20 hasn't followed me forever since then.

Did you rape someone when you were 19?

I don't know about tearing it up, but yeah I think he'll do well too. Even that might be 3 months away.

Good that he got a move. Hopefully it can be a next step towards rebuilding his character, and his career.

No way he will ever play for us or in the Premier League again. He will have a tough time in other leagues as well, but there is a chance things get better outside of the PL.

I said he wouldn't struggle to get a club and he's easily found one. Hopefully, he gets his life back on track and focuses on what's important in his life. Not only did he miss out on prison, he also kept his GF, and is still a professional footballer. There is no God.

Did Greenwood?

Being charged of attempted murderer doesn’t make you a murderer. Less so if the charges are dropped.

He’s still a piece of shit, and I’m glad he’s gone from our club, but as with anything these days the conversation seems to have to be taken to such extremes constantly.

It’s exhausting.

really? The football conversation was quite balanced in the days of SAF when we won more or less everything. Nowadays the season seems over for half of the caf even when there isn’t kicked a ball yet. I am more here because of tradition and some funny posters (horsechoker et al) but the common sense on here is too negativ for me nowadays

Uniteds statement of recommence his career elsewhere is very interesting. It left open the possibility he could come back after loan spell. They probably want to see if the heat around this goes away.

He won't play for this club again. Not a hope in hell. Doubt he'll ever play in this country again. Even if he is banging in 30 goals a season.

Sorry you have such a horrendous comedy taste.

Can someone explain this? I thought he will not play for United again and the contract was terminated by mutual agreement?

The statement we released was wooly at best, giving leeway that there was potential for him to come back at a later time.

We have not terminated his contract though and offered support for him to recommence his career, which I guess involved helping him find a new club.

I’m absolutely baffled as to how this isn’t everyone’s view on the matter.
She’s decided (for now) to stay with him, they have a baby together and are moving overseas. Surely the only thing you can do is to wish that he can do good by them.
We'll have to see with this one. It would make sense and most are assuming they will move with him but they might stay in the UK initially or split their time depending on the dynamics and the family situation.

The contract has not been terminated. He's still on the club's books and we're still paying his salary. He has two years left on his deal and is spending the next 12 months at Getafe who may or may not decide to make it permanent next summer.

We never said his contract was being terminated, it was a very vague statement really. Either the club are going to stand by their words and he won't play for us again, in which case we will probably try to cash in next summer. Or they're playing the supporters for fools and will hope it blows over and try to sneak him back in. But they'll face an even bigger shit storm if they do.
