Mason Greenwood | Officially a Marseille player

There was an odd perception that he wouldn't get picked up by a European club, much less one in La Liga.

It’s almost like they didn’t realise that football clubs might want to act like football clubs, rather than the court system they’d like to overthrow with mob law.

Aye. I’m a degenerate because I want an innocent child to have a happy Mum, Dad & family.

feck me this place.

It’s a grim world isn’t it.

Even if we determine the person is guilty for committing the crime despite not having all the evidence, and we don’t believe anyone deserves a shot to change their life after a mistake…

Then wishing the worst on the life of his wife, who you’re claiming is the victim that you’re trying to protect, and his newborn child who has done nothing at all wrong, feels pretty horrible.

Can someone explain to me how we are loaning him out when he agreed to leave by mutual termination?

Maybe I missed something here, thanks!

That never happened. He's a fully contracted Utd player for the next 2 years. I have no idea why people think we terminated his contract.

I still think we should have released him. We're left paying his wages for another season. I can't see us getting much of a transfer fee in the future and it's probably best to just be done with him.

I wish him well.

I am also wondering what’s in it for us? No loan fee and we are covering most of his salary.
So we are hoping to sell him best case next year?

Getafe have scored only 1 goal in 3 games so they need all the help they can get.

No sure how he’s going to handle being in a team fighting relegation while also trying to get back to match fitness.

Good luck to him. I certainly dont want to see him burned at the stake.

Especially when we just resigned Jonny Evans who was arrest for the same thing.

Not surprising given that the narrative about acquiring his services is likely to be very different in most other countries where it will be seen almost exclusively through a football lens.

Also not surprising because literally every club on the planet can rustle up a few dozen completely brain dead transfer muppets for photo ops on deadline day.

If that ever happened then I also missed something!

This is a quote from the BBC article

"Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood will leave the club by mutual agreement after a six-month internal investigation into his conduct. "

"Will leave" implies that it's going to happen and that it's already been sorted, no? Or was this more of a "this is our plan" type of thing? The wording of the BBC article implies its a done agreement.

I’m slightly surprised it’s a loan move. I thought it would be a free transfer but I guess that would have required him to agree to a massive paycut or a large payoff.

Reading the club statement again, the wording about re-commencing his career elsewhere does seem to give some wiggle room for him to return after a loan move. I hope we aren’t back in the same position next summer or, if we are, the club sorts it out a lot earlier next time.

Riley with a gabble.

The irony is that if you are wishing him ill, that has consequences on his family. That makes them no better.

Loan deal was always the best way forward, why it took the club many months to realise this I have no idea

A decent move for him given the lack of time to sort, i can't imagine that Getafe can afford his wages though so I assume we are still paying a chunk of it which is far from ideal

I wonder if his partner and child will also move or stay in Manchester

Very interested to see what kind of level he is at after 18 months out of the game

Getafe getting some serious talent on a cheap. Wonder how many big clubs will be interested next summer once he breaks la liga.

Nobody is wishing the worst on his wife or child, that's an absolutely ridiculous conclusion. Many including myself would wish they would have a life without him because of the vile public evidence and his lack of remorse in the statements. The irony in defending his actions is the fact he should be in prison.

Its worded very carefully to leave the door open for a potential return imo. The fact that ETH and Arnold were allegedly on board with keeping him only reinforces this.

Nah it's absolutely spot on.
It's spot on but at the same time it's beneath us. The lad is an absolute cnut as far as I'm concerned, but I hope he can learn from his cnutish (and completely immoral) behaviour away from United and do good by his missus and child.

I'm not convinced he will and I'm not denying his talent. The amount of time out, the type of team and football they play makes me think he'll take a while to get match fitness, then he'll have to deal with playing in a team that will see less of the ball and less chances. Not to mention the psychological side of things that he'll inevitably face.

Let's not forget he was still just a prospect before all this and had issues to overcome in just his game alone. I don't think he'll shine massively and, thankfully, it'll make it easier for some fans and club employees to let him go in 12 months.

Yes, and of course we might have different owners next year. It does feel like the can has been kicked down the road on this one now.

Also agreed with @pocco. It definitely makes any decision next summer a lot easier if he fails at Getafe.

If he tears it up there, do you think we might rethink our initial decision.

I would need to see all the evidence United got before agreeing. They even said in the press release he didn’t commit the offences he was charged with.

What is happening here and on social media are mob mentality. United got duped. The right move would be to stand their ground, loan him out, help him and his family to move on and in the end see how he progress.

I wish him luck and hope he and his family will be fine when things settle down.

Hopefully you're right. I'm mad we let him go if he starts banging goals week in and week out it'll make it much more bitter.

He will be out of contract when this loan ends, so if he proves himself football wise I imagine there will be more than a few teams looking to sign him as a free agent next year.

Bang out of order and toxic post.
I’d suggest those wishing a woman beater who enjoys the occasional rape well are considerably more toxic than those not wishing him well in truth but there you go.

Nah it's absolutely spot on.
How? Isn't there a point where it's enough? The guy has been shunned from his childhood club, city and country. He is with his partner and has a child. We should all hope he learns from his mistakes, and we just don't know the full story of what happened but what we do know is they are together so we can only hope they restart their lives in a better place and in a better way. Wishing him ill helps nobody, leaves no room for recovery, making up for mistakes or anything else.

How could that be though unless the images and recordings were debunked which they never were?

Wasn't it Getafe that loaned Andreas Pirlo Pereira, where he played relatively well there?

Nope

2 years left and the club have option for an extra year

If he does well then the club will surely demand a hefty fee or look to bring him back

As far as we know, he has not been found guilty of any offence. The CPS continued to investigate the allegations 10 months after the main witness withdrew her statement.

If those allegations are true, he has the opportunity to try enter the phase at rehabilitation. He said in his statement he wants to be a good father, why should the young child be deprived of that?

Oh to be someone who didn't do some moronic fecked up shit when they were 20.

Not excusing it, but I'm glad that some of the stuff I did when I was 19/20 hasn't followed me forever since then.

Glad we got this done. I just hope the end result is that this club, or another, will have been enticed enough to buy him on a permanent deal.

Bang out of order and toxic post.

If virtue is exclaiming your happiness for, and wishing well this guy:
"I don't give a [expletive] what you want, you little [expletive]."
"Push me again and watch what happens to you."
Then I will gladly take being toxic over whatever the feck you're doing.

And if you're getting extremely triggered to the point of lashing out, by someone expressing disgust towards this guy and those wishing him the best like some old friend:
"I don't give a [expletive] what you want, you little [expletive]."
"Push me again and watch what happens to you."
Then what the feck are you?

So essentially wishing him… death.

And simultaneously disregarding the actual views or thoughts or desires of his partner - because as a random stranger off of the internet you know what’s best for her more than she does.

Not exactly the pinnacle of compassionate and equality driven thought is it?

I’m not ‘lashing out’ man, I’m just calling you out on posting nasty stuff that wishes bad upon someone.

You haven’t triggered me - you’ve just disappointed me.

You got your wish, he’d being jettisoned from Utd, yet you still don’t seem pleased.

If all you can contribute is to literally and pointedly wish bad upon the guy, maybe you should just be glad that you got the result you wanted and not post such stuff.

How do you think his partner and daughter would feel reading something like that? How does help the situation?

That’s the problem with not knowing the whole story. I know the images and recordings look horrific, but it’s not a chance in hell United state that if not true. It’s not a chance in hell they would drop the charges if the evidence said otherwise.

Something is not adding up for me. We will probably never know the whole story because of legal reasons, but damn it would help the club and fans if we got some insight.
