Martinez Injury | Out for the season with metatarsal fracture

Achilles is career changer. And he will be long for most of next season. Absolutely devastating for him. And we will need even more money in the summer.

Lindelof - Maguire means we will now start leaking goals like a sieve.
Its no longer a career threatening injury. It used to be 20 years ago but NFL players get them far more often (this includes cornerbacks which need to move in every direction like a CB), and it is no longer career threatening. Its just a longer recovery than a normal ACL tear.

We pretty much need to sign another CB now. He'll likely be gone until Christmas.

Found 2 cases of Achilles tendon ruptures on transfermarkt so far (European top leagues):

Loftus-Cheek missed 280 days (9 months) and 38 games for Chelsea.

Agustín Marchesín of Celta Vigo suffered a rupture on 3 Feb this year and is expected to be out until October.

Was Varane injured too? Can't understand his sub at half time if not for fitness issue.

Was holding the side of his ankle not the back so I hope it’s ligaments in that location instead of the Achilles. Season over no matter what.

How many goals in error will United concede in these remaining fixtures when Lindelof, Maguire and DDG try and play out the back.

Javier Zanetti also ruptured his and was out for something like a year. It's a very bad injury.

And with that (And Rashford) our season is over. I expect we will be knocked out by Sevilla and fall out of the top 4

We’re definitely going to have to prioritise a CB in the summer now. That could be him out for 12 months, if he comes back at all.

I haven't read anything, but I know that look from experience. I ruptured my right Achilles in 2006 and my left in 2008. I'm 99% sure that's what Martinez did. If so, he's out for the season. I didn't walk on my own for 9 months the first time, 6 months the second. I hope I'm wrong...

No one wants to face the truth yet but an Achilles tear is very, very difficult to recover from, the mobility in your foot never comes back. Imagine having a foot that it's flexible in certain directions.

Some of the best up and coming players in recent years have had their careers effectively ended at this level due to this injury, Loftus-Cheek, Hudson-Odoi, Koscielny, John Walters and John Barnes.

I really hope Martinez's isn't that injury or if it is, it isn't severe otherwise he could be in massive trouble.

What?!?!

I wonder if it was his metatarsal? He grabbed his foot, not the back of his leg.
Yeah it was the outside of his foot.

Love how on here within two minutes it’s a snapped Achilles and he’s out for a year. We literally have no idea what the injury is yet

Why the hate on Acuna and Montiel ? They did nothing wrong.
Hopefully Licha will be back soon. A honey badger doesn't go down that easily.
