Martinez in midfield…

Nah, it's a different thing stepping into midfield, than starting there. A lot more space with the later, plus the game is played "in front" on the player.

Same issue Trent has when played as a midfielder.

I never got my Antony at left back prediction, so moving onto my next one.

Do we already have our Casemiro replacement?

Can pass between the lines, plenty of bite in him, decent shot and goal scoring ability. Dropping back into centre back to provide cover would be naturally easy. Would have to work on his positioning but it’s not impossible.

Beside Ugarte in the big away games, or to replace Ugarte when he needs rested.
Yes, we need someone that can pass between the lines. At center back.

Doesn't have the running capacity. Or so said ETH at least.

Is Martinez the last player left that people want to use in different positions?

I dont think people care about Lindelof or using him as DM anymore. People dont like Zirkzee enough to consider him starting games.

I would bet on Mainoo as CM/AM or Amad as RWB/AM as the next big positional discussion?

He's pretty good in the back 3 at moving into midfield with space to look up, it would be a waste to get rid of them there. The midfield 2 in Amorim's system you're really looking for workhorses, players with high stamina to do a lot of hard running. Hardly suits him at all.

I dont think he would be too bad there. Sure, hes not quick, but definitely more aggressive than Mainoo, and you need to be quick over the first couple of metres. Got decent pas on him too. People dont realize that playing three at the back make all of our CBs play like a sweeper anyway.

If Martinez in midfield, we could still get proper CBs like Yoro, Maguire, De Light and Mazraoui best RCB position into play.

Licha in midfield is not definitely more crazy than Garnacho or Amad at WB.

Don't see it. I think people underestimate how much of a different role midfield is.

You have to be able to take the ball under pressure and constantly have a picture of where everyone else on the pitch is, and then have the technical ability not to constantly ham it up or be limited to passing the ball backwards. You also need a good engine and high intensity levels (tbf I don't think Mazrouri would struggle with that part). Its not the same as looking comfortable on the ball while sitting in a back line or on the touchline where you only have to look in half the directions.

Rio is probably the best CB I've seen at United on the ball. He'd strut about pinging passes everywhere, escaping high presses or bursting through the opposition first defensive line. We tried him as a DM and he was fecking terrible there.

I don't think Mazrouri is a good wing back. He rarely does anything wrong there but he isn't suited to it. He's looked decent at CB in this system where he can be aggressive without being as worried who's covering the striker...although tbh he also reads the game pretty well anyway.

He's useful as a defender in any system because even if he can't hold down a starting place, he can be a competent stand in for pretty much any position in it, which usually guarantees you 20+ starts a season in a vast majority of teams.

No, I see home playing better once we get Dorgu attacking down the left, he will get more time on the ball
