If the new manager wants to give them lot time before he decides to bin them, we'll have made another bad choice of manager.

That would be the first bad sign for me. If the next manager comes wanting to give the players who keep failing another chance then you know how it will go.

I felt he did you exactly what is expected of him. He won headers in defense and attack. Liverpool didn't get at our CBs once he came on. He won most of the tackles in went into. He missed the long ball passes as that is not his game at all.
People might not like his style of play but he definitely plays to his full potential and expectation Everytime he plays.. now only if more of our players did the same, we would not be where we are at the moment..
Fellaini, Young, Matic, Valencia, Smalling, Jones, Bailly, Rojo Lindelof, Lingard, Herrera, Darmian, Shaw...which of these guys aren't playing to their full potential?

He should be plan c or d in the last 5-10 minutes to lump the ball upto if nothing else works. Him coming ahead of Martial and Mata says a lot about our tactics, style of play and desperation.

This.
He should be coming on in the last 15-20 minutes to knock down balls for others and he should be playing the odd game here and there against weak opponents. This is again completely on Mourinho and it is so frustrating a manager of repute can not even see the bad choices he is making

If there was any chance of the Caf just losing the whole notion of factions, The Jose fanboys, the Pogba/ Fellaini/ Martial gang, whatever, that would be great. It's stinking the place up in here.

I wish but they're there to see in a lot of threads. The Fellaini thread being one of the worst culprits, he's either amazing and really important or shite. The truth is he's neither, he's a good player with certain attributes who can be effective at times in certain set-ups and thats it.

Young is not as I expect more from him offensively, Matic isn't, Valencia isn't even playing anymore, Smalling has been, Jones is injured too often, Bailly hasn't lived up to expectations, Rojo has, Lindelof is starting to live up to his potential, Lingard is but didn't last game, Herrera always does, Darmian does as well so does Shaw. They are not the problem. Lukaku Pogba, Sanchez, Mourinho, Matic, not performing is the problem as they form the spine of the team.
If Salah, Mane, Firmonho and VVD stop performing for Liverpool, they won't be where they are.

Please can someone get rid of Fellini please, he is nothing more than a mid table team player. Moyes ghost is still hovering over us in the shape of this clown. Get rid of him.

The first thing a new manager needs to do is move this guy on.

Epitomizes our banter period.

Move him on.. Our wonderful manager and CEO gave this one a contract extension last summer, when he could have been released and forgotten about.

Fellaini was on his way, he had moved out of his house and took most of his belongings prior to the world cup.
He said " he hates England and will never come back".
He had options to go to PSG or Turkey.
A matter of days before his United contract expired, he resigned for United.
United offered him a wage, that blew the other offers out of the water.
He's only stayed for the money.
I would love to know how much they gave him.

The first thing all incoming managers has done was drop Fellaini. Then after a few matches they realise he may be the option to bring on when we are struggling and he comes on as a sub and changes the game. The only way that cannot happen is if he is not at the club.

Drop Fellaini? Nah, first thing in January, get rid, he is the main core of what is wrong since Moyes came, not saying he is the worst of the bunch at the current team, but his playstyle does not suit this club, easy as that, he is like a bad luck charm while he is here.

I've thought that so many times, but he keeps surviving.

I mean, under LvG he stumbled into becoming an important player for a period of time but I'm pretty sure LvG never planned on using him at the beginning. And let's face it, he struck gold with Mourinho who was always going to love him.

Yep, then he starts the next game as a reward. But then we play slow but he will be seen as a fighter so will survive. Vicious cycle.

To be fair, he always seems to give 100%. Granted his ceiling is much lower than many others but Od take him over some of the others on the squad
But all that means is we need to improve the rest of the squad, not that we should be keeping Fellaini

Stop talking about celings - such a futile and utterly pointless exercise and barometer, if you are using it as a synonym for potential, he’s 30 for goodness sake.

Even now he’s got rid of the afro he will have high ceilings at home, he’s 6’4.

Going to be so funny when our next manager (who will be an extremely popular choice amongst fans) uses Fellaini just as much as our last 3 managers

Weren't his days numbered after Moyes? Then Van Gaal?

People that think Fellaini is the problem just love to find a punching bag. It's easy to put all the blame on a player that isn't the most technical.

Nice way to say...isn't much good.

Fellaini can be usefull for any manager excluding Pep (he would rather lose than hoof the ball to Fellaini his head/chest) because when Fellaini is used in the right way he can offer something not many players can offer. He should be option B or even C though and not the go to plan like it has been.

I rather keep Fellaini in the squad than Lingard because Fellaini offers something different while Lingard doesnt offer anything another player cant do.

No they're not. I get to some he is the symbol of the decline but he has done more than most to warrant a place at this club. Imho I guess.

This.

If every member of the squad is performing to their potential, then Fellaini wouldn't be a starter or first option off the bench.

It never fails to amuse me how some fans have this irrational hatred for a (limited) player who gives 100% on the pitch. Or worse, see him as the encapsulation of our decline.

Scenes here when he's still valuable and used under the next manager as well. :D

Hopefully not because it would pribably mean players with more technical abilities won't be utilised and we probably won't be doing any better than recently.

Can see him sticking around and used as attacking option especially if we get Zidane. With Zidane in the Young and Fellaini show while we're losing will go on.

Fellaini will be here next season regardless of who the next manager is.
Good player to have around regardless what kind of football you wish to play on a regular basis.

I see him more as a 'special team' player a'la NFL. If we need an x factor in a ganevwe are struggling in, he can become on an be an aerial threat, while he can also help shore up the midfield when defending a tricky lead. Aside from being a 'relief' player in games we can afford to rest players, he is also a target man option to serve as a focal point for more attacking players

Don't get me wrong, I'd happily take an unsolicited offer for him of over 10million, but no rush to sell him just yet. There are plenty of other players that I'd actively transfer list first

No one wanted him for free last summer so I doubt anyone would offer us any money this year.

Goodbye Marouane

He was held in very high regard by every single manager we have had, since his arrival.
IMO, when the new manager arrives, he will be held in very high regard and will remain.
I believe that what managers like about him is that he is able to follow instructions to the letter and does not deviate from these, when playing on the pitch.
He also gives maximum effort in training and during matches.
Let's see what happens in the Summer.

He’s not going anywhere. Other clubs wouldn’t sign him on a free when he issued his come and get me plea this summer. Do you think they’re going to now pay money for him?

Never liked him, but he has his uses. If hes used as a squad player, no problem with him really. Also hes more likable without the fro tbh. My hate has moved to Lukaku for the most part
Not had much luck with Belgians have we?
