Mate that is a totally different discussion and not what my reply was about.

I personally don't want him, don't think he will improve our midfield and have no interest in us signing him.

With 41 games in the league and having played well for Southampton, he is a proven Premier League midfield and obviously wants a move to a bigger club.

As have said twice now, Fred is not Premier League proven hence the comparison is misguided.
 
Got to be honest I know nothing about him other than what I’ve read/watched today. He can receive the ball and turn around with it and move forward with it and drive forward with it which is a great asset to have, only pogba seems to do that for us and a bit of Fred. Also looks like had great close control. Some players can really come of age when they step up a level i think he looks good I’d be happy if we got him

You can say he even failed a bit at Marseille too, his signature to Juve completely surprised everyone.

I’d have nothing against Lemina personally. I’ve seen the talent that he has so I know what he’s capable of if things go well. As we haven’t seen to have the formula to guarantee any profile of signing works out well, I have nothing against Lemina. I’m choosing to focus on what he CAN do, and my point is I suspect others would do that more too if he were to sign for another club for cheap too.

No idea who this guy is, but 16 pages in a day makes me think there’s legs to this one. Could prove a shrewd signing, who knows?

Why do we need another average midfield player cluttering up the squad, the reality is pereira, fred and matic should be the back up options, not first team players with this guy as a back up, we need basically a whole new 3 man 1st team midfield and we are busy penny pinching on getting another squad player that will be nothing more than more deadwood come the next season.

A lot of fans on this board are a joke, you defend Ole when it's clear he is way out of his depth and say it's down to lack of quality on the pitch and that we need to shift the deadwood and then you go and try to defend us buying an even more mediocre player like Lemina?

I didn't followed him at Marseille but if your good self says he failed there as well then I believe you. There's no one as reliable on the French league as JP and your self.

You might not notice but we're talking about Southampton here. They hardly have alot of players to choose from. Now lets stick to what we know. Lemina was signed on a huge fee. Despite all that he ended up as a reserve just after 2 years. Not only that, he know want out. If that's make him proven in the league he did all that then I really don't know.

Lemina's best games are 2-3 times better than anything Fred has shown for us and might cost a measly £15 million, whereas the Brazilian was around £52 million in terms of transfer fee, plus a huge wage of £5 million a year that any potential buyer cannot even cover.

It would have been better to buy Lemina last year instead of Fred, he would have been at least as useful and in my opinion, he is a lot more talented if he becomes consistent. I still see nothing in the Brazilian that makes me think he is even a £20 million player, a Tom Cleverley type of player.

Fred plays for Manchester United so every move he makes will be scrutinised. The manager could also afford keeping him on the bench far more then Saints could do with Lemina. I assure you, that Lemina's contribution at Juventus wasn't that much different to that of Fred with Manchester United. I posted somewhere what Juventus fans thought when he was kicked out. I've read your comments and as said previously, Lemina isn't someone that I would actively target for a transfer. But if Ole sees potential in him, there is logic to it and for the money quoted, there is no substantial risk involved.

That has been my main argument from the start. Of course I would rather us get Veratti and Ndidi, for example, to put them in midfield with Pogba, but it isn't happening.

How do you know that? We want to get Maguire from Leicester, why would they sell us another top player? And I bet they would quote us similar prices to the ones for Maguire.
 
I checked his nationality and realised he is actually Gabonese because i thought he's French. Was he in the Gabon squad in the ongoing AFCONS? Anyone knows or they weren't in the competiton?
 
Don't mind him at all, especially if he's as cheap as reported.. could turn out to be a very shrewd signing and upgrade on Herrera.

nope, as Gabon didn't qualify.
 
Shows you how much of a mess this club is when they could have signed a player like Fornals for 24 million but because we dither around so much and can only do one transfer at a time which takes about month to complete, we end up looking at Southampton's cast off's, at this rate even West Ham will have better midfield than us in Fornals and Rice.

I agree the general feeling here is that Ndidi cost Leicester nothing, he was bloody expensive for his age and experience I’d say they would be looking for a minimum of £60 for him.

My thoughts exactly. Ndidi has the potential to be one of the best midfield destroyers in the world, Leicester will never sell us arguably their 2 best players in one transfer window, let alone for some sort of cut-price deals.
 
Better buy Idrissa Gana from Everton. Gana is more consistent.
If not Gana. Declan Rice is a better option than Lemina.
Declan Rice has a dominate presence, has the mentality and i think Rice can handle the pressure to deliver high level every week.

For the dcm role. I only see Gana and Rice will do a consistent job in the future.

Outside the continent is Barella.

And Fabian Ruiz. If Ruiz sit more deeper, as a deep dcm playmaking role. With his guts and energy. Those are 4 options im consider for the dcm role.

Gana from Everton - He has definitive the running legs
Declan Rice from West Ham
Fabian Ruiz from Napoli
Barella from Cagliari

High guts, energy, fighting spirit and working hard. Beside football and ball abilities.
Mental aspect abilities + physical abilities + football vision and ball abilities. Im satisfy with those abilities to those 4 players. Some score higher than others in some area. But overall, as a fullpacket as a football player. I would like to have all of those 4 in the squad. Definitely good enough for United squad and will strength the midfield and squad.

Edit:

I will take off Fabian Ruiz from new dcm options. He way too offensive and attacking minded. A more nr.8 than a nr.6.

Then is down to the others 3

+ I.Gana has running legs, good acceleration and really good to break up opponent attack.
+ Barella a allround and complete cm player. Good to tackle, creative and good in the build up.
+ Rice is a dominate player. A central midfield leader pontential, is discipline to sit back. Good air ability in the attack.

Its hard and difficult to choose one of those. United might need for two a but more defensive cm. Herrera and Matic soon. So it would might go for either Gana/Rice + Barella.

Barella is a more of Herrera type of player. Gana is a more Kante type of player. And Rice is a bit more Keane type of player. All of Rice, Barella and Gana are on high international level. And all of them. Barella and Rice will be regular nation cm player in the future. Best in their countries, in their positions. And i think definitive good enough for United too, in the future. Cost more, but lesser risk buy. Future regular and current nation player.

I would consider Ndidi and Neves in your list.

Also, there are a lot of decent defensive midfielders like
Tonali, Weigl, Carvalho, Kessie, Partey, Doucoure, etc.

He's a classy looking player who is well above Southampton level, that somehow wasn't getting in their team as they got relegated.

I think he'd be quality, certainly better than all bar Pogba that we have!

I watched Southampton 3-4 times last year and Lemina appeared in about half those games and never once stood out. I remember him coming over from Juve and there being high expectations but never any real output.

Let's be real if he was linked with Spurs or Arsenal we'd be laughing at them.
 
The way its being reported is like he's just turned up at work one day and gone, "okay I'm ready to move to a bigger club now please"... despite not being that amazing for Southampton

I think I got confused with someone's post from earlier in the day, who I swear mentioned a "relegated Southampton", and then having tried to forget last season...a horrible mix of the two :)

But I remember seeing him before, and thinking he was a bit of a Pogba lite - but without the circus.

Neither did Tadic, apart from the odd bit of genius, and look at him now. Not saying Lemina is as good as Tadic but he's a decent enough player.
