Marcus Rojo - Finally found a taker?

Selling him, or keeping him until the end of the season would make more sense. Loaning him out is pointless. And we'll inevitably hit a defender injury crisis.

We should be able to get a hair decent fee for him in the summer, with him still having 2 more years to go. Needed playing time though.

very much doubt it. We have tried to sell him for 4 or 5 years. Injury plagued player on £160k per week - no one is buying him.

I always had a soft spot for Rojo.

Nowhere near good enough but you can't help but like a player who nearly scores a screamer or gets sent off every other game.

For £16m he wasn't that bad. Bailly for instance is a far worse signing

People whine about fecking Evans being sold, when people forgot, after game vs MK Dons, this place wanted him sent on the Moon. Him being out muscle vs any bit strong striker etc.

he's been part of the glass brigade the last few seasons so keeping doesn't really solve our problems if one of Lindelof or Maguire get a significant injury. At best he comes in a for a couple games before his turn on the sidelines. maybe a loan spell away from the club sees him miraculously stay fit and regain some form and we can sell in the summer. or he plays well at Estudiantes and we can keep loaning him to them until his contract expires.

Another player who has been with us for ages, but has only ever looked good in a handful of games.

He can get on the leaky boat and sit with Luke Shaw, Eric Bailly, Jesse Lingard and Nemanja Matic.

This is what amazes me on this forum. People are so quick to forget how shit players were for us just because they improve a little at a smaller club with alot let pressure and scrutiny. Evans was horrific and was rightly moved on, same with Smalling.

What a crap signing he was.

I mean even when he played well he still had so many rash moments. Could not be relied upon.

Hoping our injuries begin to let up now.

You can say whatever you want about Evans but he's a better defender than Rojo and with the added bonus of being fit for more than 3 matches a season.

We sold Evans for £2-3m and signed Rojo for £16-20m, thats why people complain. It was a bloody stupid piece of business.

Put that along side selling Rafael for £2m and replacing him with another inferior player like Darmian for £12m and it becomes clear before even talking about Nani/Depay, Hernandez/Falcao that LVG really didn't have a clue what he was doing when trying to build a squad. Shite transfers by Van Gaal and to an extent Mourinho years ago are the reason the current squad is in the state it is.

Dont forget zaha, moyes sold him I think but still.

Ah yes always fit RB Rafael, that one i guess.

Any reliable starter for a team 14 points ahead of us on the table is definitely a player we should have kept, especially considering CB has been such a total fecking mess for us since Rio and Vidic.

I will miss Rojo...good luck to him. Would have been amazing if a few of his long shots had found the back of the net!

Him missing 15-20 games a season becomes irrelevant when his replacement couldn't defend and wouldn't attack and cost more than ten times what we sold Rafael for. Darmian stayed fit but he was shit, worst senior fullback i've seen at United in almost 30 years of watching.

Rafael 30 games > Darmian 60 games.

To be honest you'd probably find better central defenders than Rojo 14 points behind us.

Why we struggle to find another European team who can pay his wages atleast so we can save money on him rather sending him to Argentina for nothing.

Nope that was also Van Gaal, allowed a promising young winger we bought for £10m to return to the club we just bought him from for £3m 18 months later. Another great piece of business, it's easy to see why we've spent the best part of a billion quid to assemble a mid-table squad.

Any price we could sell him for wouldn't make much difference to the club. He may be part of the 'glass brigade', but I'd argue it's worth keeping him for the few times we'd need him, rather than send him out and hope he improves his value to what would still be peanuts.

The biggest issues with Rojo signing were

a) the club had NO IDEA he was up for bottling someone in Argentina until he had already signed the deal. Highlighting our lack of care and due diligence when picking targets. Fergie would know your mums secret Spag Bol recipe.

b) the wages are fecking ridiculous.

My main issue with him is he's a weetabix player. Him, Bailly, and Jones are all injury prone and to be honest, dross anyway. Would get rid of the lot anyday. Wont be missed. Was never really here
