Marcus Rashford (out)

Please point to where managers were made to apologise to him in public, with the precise words used by the manager concerned.

Ole was made to backtrack on what he said by coming out with a silly explanation of something that was previously pretty clear to understand and was quite reasonable for a manager to ask ie rashford should focus on his game. The athletic confirmed that such crap came after Rashford's camp made it clear that they weren't happy with ole's criticism

this has been a messy break-up for some posters hasn't it? Still hanging on to the idea that he should be given another chance, or that he's even worth a transfer fee despite the massive wage liability

he's absolutely cooked at this club and it's become a toxic relationship

I just hope he can find a good place in his life and starts enjoying his football again

for United the best solution here is we get some wages back on a loan deal, hope he finds some form and we can hopefully sell him in the summer

Rashford in the Bundesliga is probably the best move for both parties. Open space, high lines and poor defenders.

Get his confidence up with some goals and highlights and we'll see what happens in the summer.
I think his confidence is fine. It's motivation, ambition he lacks right now.

At this point youd think he would have some pride about his career, but wouldnt surprise me if he cares more about the paycheck he is getting

Not being professional and slacking off is a major thing especially when coming from a senior player whose also the highest paid player at the club. If the 350k a week player can't be arsed to backtrack then why would the rest of the team do it? Also what sort of salary would someone who actually runs their socks off demand?

However I don't blame Rashford for how things end up. Its United who made managers apologize to him in public and covered up for his lack of professionalism. It was also United who gave him a salary which at the time was way higher to one the likes of Salah had. United made Rashford untouchable. We created Rashford.

I recently watched a reel from Rio on how Roy Keane was booted out of the club. We lost a game, he went too hard on his mates, SAF didn't allow that to be shown on MUTV and the day after the gaffer showed up to tell the players that Keane would never play for United ever again. What a difference between that time and now were senior players can jog on the pitch and a United manager is forced to apologize to Rashford for the temerity of criticizing him.

That would be my take if he was playing for my club, ultimately the club and organization are the culprits in creating such situations. It is what it is but right now the club needs to deal with it and make sure it doesn't keep on going.

His PR is in full swing again.

Not football related this time and likely nothing to it on his part.

But can we not just go a month without statements from him. Responding just gives it more legs.

Why is it so difficult to keep under the radar. Train, eat, sleep, repeat.

There’s plenty of other multi millionaire footballers that avoid this much attention and column space

Roll on Feb. Can’t wait

Just a guess but I think he got messed up after all the praise he got with the off-pitch work. Nothing wrong with all the service, but I wonder if that got into head and killed the motivation.
When he first burst into the scene, he looked very bubbly&lively and eager to perform. Does not look like that anymore.
Better he goes somewhere else and discovers that again because he is a decent player.

The club and Amorim better have a plan with how desperate they are to get rid of him. No credible links to any forwards as well if he leaves. We will struggle to finish 10th with the forwards left at the club. 7 goals and 3 assists by the time he played his last game for us, surely he'd be into double figures already and actually helping the team. It'll improve his market value as well and we can easily sell in the summer.

There are plenty of credible links for a move away at present.

The player is the one who said he wants to leave when he was dropped instead of just buckling down and improving his performances.

He was already transfer listed before he ever said that. He'd obviously spoken to the club who told him he can leave. Only then and after a week of non-stop briefings ( there were 8 articles about him in barely a week in the telegraph alone) about him being for sale did he speak up about it. The interview was probably ill-advised, but the club clearly want him out anyway.

No, he was not. He was dropped, and then he came out with the quotes. Garnacho was also in the same position, but one handled it better. After that he was out of the team. It is irrelevant if the club want to sell him or not, if he had shut up and put in the effort he would have got games.

I completely understand the frustration over Rashford's form at this stage but this is pathetic, and it's even more pathetic that some fans on here are apparently willing to get on his case for it.

As Rashford puts it, you can't expect players to do a background check on every tw@t that asks for a photograph. Plus the fact, the rapper in question here (Jake Fahri) committed the murder in 2008 when Rashford would have been 10/11 years old.

Tabloids never disappoint when it comes to scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Yes he was. He spoke about leaving after the onslaught of media articles linking him away from the club. Obviously before that he'd had a talk with the club and was told he can find a new club. He's not the type to randomly talk about leaving the club, even when he's been heavily linked with a move away in the last few years.

What do they think the photo means? He was involved? He supports it? Rashford did the right thing posting this, stupid tabloid shit.

The tabloids obviously know that the photo doesn't mean shite. Swathes of the general public, on the other hand, won't think any deeper than a paddling pool about it and will use this as "yet another example of Rashford's bad attitude off the field", and the tabloids are banking on being able to generate outrage. It's heinous.

I've never bya Rashford fan, I would never take notice of this.

No, he was not. Media writes a lot of crap, it means nothing. If we believed the media, we would have a squad of 100 players. Even if he has been told to find a new club, he should have shut up and be a professional. Let his agent handle it when the window opened, till then be more professional. Garnacho was also in a similar spot, he has handled it much better.

Mad, I remember the Jimmy Mizen case as was down the road from me at the time. Was massive local news and I dont even remember the perpetrators name. What a weird story to run from the tabloids.

With the contract he's on he's not going anywhere. All these rumours will lead to nowhere.

That's true but another deciding factor is ambition and Rashford supposedly has mentioned the intention to play for England which has been briefed by his side.

Being out the squad for half a season is detrimental to that goal not to mention he's around the age that players would peak typically and up keeping in form / match fitness will have a tole compared to a teenager / younger player.

Looking back, especially after the Andy Mitten story, I can't believe we let the wages get this out of control. Which now seems to be a huge issue in getting him out of the club. If Mitten was right, this guy's wages have ballooned with every contract, but every manager has had a problem with him. Now we finally have the right manager that has rightly given him a "final chance" and the result has been to sideline him and move him on and it's these wages that are going to stop us. The club has so many problems to fix on so many levels that even our mistakes are going to take us years to unwind.

I tend to agree with @tentan above. The clubs sniffing around are obviously going to want us to to eat so much of his wages. I don't know how accurate capology is, so i'll just talk in ballpark. If rashford was loaned to either club, MUFC taking on half his loan wage hypothetically makes him the top earner at either club. Does either club want to do that to their squads? So it comes down to him deciding to eat his wage if he wants to play, getting paid and not playing till 2028 or some guardian angel rich dude wants to splash cash on him for no reason.
