It's definitely about the wages, but to find out what West Ham could actually give for a Rashford transfer:
Rashford's yearly wage is 15.6 million gbp.
Duran is 3.9 mil yearly
At a new club, you'd expect Duran to be leading the attack and get a bump to maybe 6-7 mil and Rashford to go down in wages (if he wants to play) about 2-5 million = 13 million. For West Ham's offer for Duran to be translated into a Rashford-setting and have the same overall costs, the transfer-fee of Rashford would have to be around 20 m. Rough calculations though, and you also have little resale value in Rashford compared to Duran who's only 21, but might be a case of United just not willing to sell for such a "low" price.

Funny that. In my FM save, Rashford plays for Liverpool, Mainoo for Arsenal and ETH just got sacked from Dortmund for finishing 10th in the league.

The proof is there if you look hard enough. There is a weird PR battle going by his agency Vs the club. As soon as Ruben said his type of player doesn't suit the team (paraphrasing) the very next day 4 or 5 outlets release the same brief, he is doing extra training and ready to come back.
Whereas Ruben has maintained training to his standards is the minimum to be on the squad, and he has been absent for most matches.
If he doesn't take a pay cut to leave, that should be the end of his career.

3 players to play all their games? They don’t have many players to back-up those three. Yamal is 17 and Lewandowski is 36. They seem to play almost everything and it shows.
But the want/have to sell Ansu Fati and Eric Garcia first. Not many takers for them so far.

There was a similar rhetoric with Sancho. People were saying he wouldn't get a game, there's not point then signing him etc.
Squad make up wise, Barca need an attacker. Like you say, the bigger issue is whether Barca can actually make a move happen. I understand Rashford preferring Barca over some of the other teams linked but worry it might be a waste of everyone's time and he ends up staying as a result.

Looking increasingly likely he won't be leaving. (Surprise, no team thinks he is even worth half of what he earns) as long as he doesn't get brought back into the team, keep him exiled and force him to drop his wages or move to Saudi or America.
