Marcus Rashford (out)

I'm sure this is how he views it. Combined with him feeling put out by McLaren putting slight pressure on him in a training game. He sees other players doing what he does and no one comes down on them. So it's got his mind all over the place.

Really should get a mental health therapist but he'll probably feel he doesn't need the help.

One of the main objectives of the new structure is we should avoid the ridiculous wage scenario of the past.

It's incredible that not a single person in Rashford's group dares to suggest that maybe he should put his whining behind him, show some humility and work as hard as he can.

Pathetic how those people just nod and tell him what he wants to hear.

Can't wait for him to be sold.

They'd have to not only do that, but in addition go to the media and say that, while representing themselves as someone from "Rashford's group", for you to be happy, right?

No, they should do no such thing. Keep the media out. Just train, be positive, fight for the club and his career. Everything else will follow.

Then you'd never know, and there's no way for you to be incredulous.

Sure I would. First of all, we don’t see interviews like the Winter one one Twitter. Secondly we would see him starting matches and Amorim talking positively about him.

It’s not what’s happening at the moment and now I think we are better off without him.

The sad part is how good he can be. An unbelievable talent.

He surely has the dumbest PR guys ever. Time after time they come out with something they obviously think will help the situation but everyone else sees it the other way round.
All this shite in the media is exactly why he should be fecked off ASAP even if it's for £5m.
He shouldn't ever put the shirt on again.

Well, someone here wrote a while back that he had hired the same PR house as David Beckham. And I'm saying they did a fine job, up until few months ago.

Ever since the Belfast incident, his PR has become less and less effective. People no longer belive the sob stories, and he can't hide on the pitch with this manager that has stripped him for everyone to see.

If one single person close to Rashford said the things you suggested, privately, without anyone except them and Rashford knowing, then Rashford would just suddenly change everything about his life, make completely different choices, become a much better footballer, completely change the manager's opinion of him, and also decide what the manager tells the media?

That's very likely the most insane thing I've ever read.

Listen, sometimes in life you make mistakes and go on paths that are not good for you. If you are lucky, you got strong people caring about you in form of family and friends. They can help you with good advice and be there for you.

I do believe Rashford got people who care for him, but I am pretty sure he don’t get advice that contradicts his own opinions. And imo, he needs at least one family member or friend he cares about to challenge his opinion and give him some good advice.

You have no idea if he has or not, and your methodology for deciding is off the charts crazy. The only way you'd believe it is if performed like a completely different player, and if he did that you'd never think he needed that advice in the first place. It's literally impossible for your idea to be true and Rashford simply disagreeing or not being capable to follow up, which is a deranged thing to just simply assume as fact.

Well, I know he has multiple cases with unprofessional behaviour the last few years. I know his game has been much better. So I know it’s something wrong in his life.

Are you suggesting Rashford has declined and is trying as hard as he can? I don’t believe that at all.

But no point in arguing. I give you that I can’t know for certain what’s going on in his life. So might be something really hard to cope with for him.

All in all. People have different goals in life. Some wants to be the best in what they're doing like Ronaldo. Rashford goals might be set for life, financially, I don't blame him. Most play football for the financial aspect, nothing wrong with it.

And as much as we think he's been I'll advised by those around him, in his eyes they could have done a marvelous job landing 300k per week and set him up for life. Earning megabucks 99.99% footballers can only dream of. By the time the contract ends he's 30 and solid financially he doesnt have to kick a ball ever again.

Fans sees football as some sort of holy crusade, giving your all and bleed for the team, talking about privilege, pride, but hey it's just a job for some.

Could he have knuckled down, relinquish his lifestyle, maintain the my body is a temple and play till he's 35 at high level? Maybe, but why would he if money is his goals. He got that contract and unless he stupidly do stupid things like Punching Amorim or going Awol that contract is as good as guaranteed.

If money is his goals. He really has no incentive to try hard and worked his ass off everyday. He had made it money wise, why bother with so much trouble. The pays are the same, it's not like he can work hard and become as good as Messi and earns 600k per week. It's real life.

I dont blame him for having this thought, we're all humans. But dont blame me for calling it as it is, a player who's not worth keeping and should be sent packing. Hey it's business, nothing personal. It goes both ways.

If United is bottom league table, we dont begrudge good players that wants to step up and offered a better offer, so dont begrudge United for wanting a better player who cost much less salary wise.

He does now but he previously had one of the very best in Kelly Hogarth. She had longstanding links with FareShare. Ditto relationships with Macmillan Books, NatWest and others.

With her, Rashford was legitimately the most marketable athlete in the UK. She didn't just build his profile--she created it. Literally changed the game in our industry for multiple years, to the point that everyone was trying to hit that delicate social justice/branding balance with their clients. She rightly won PR Week's Campaign of the Decade, creating such an apparently believable persona that even things that look silly in hindsight somehow worked (posting motivational tweets to kids literally 20 minutes after we played City, this infamous tweet, having an opinion on just about every trending event at the time, even very tricky topics like this (tw: Sarah Everard) all while sounding suspiciously like a comms person... the list goes on but it all worked)

He split with Kelly Hogarth a couple of years ago, apparently acrimoniously. She started her own agency, meanwhile Rashford has cycled through 5 or 6 different agencies at rapid pace trying to replicate that lightning in a bottle he had from 2020-2022. Currently he's with Caroline McAteer, which is a bit like going from Pep to Sam Allardyce.

Agreed many people have that perspective and it's a fair one. If what he primarily cares about is money though, he should be open to Saudi.

There's at least a significant part of him that cares about legacy, playing meaningful football, playing for England, etc. That part will all work out better if he knuckles down and works his butt off for a few years. Does he want to be a 40 year old with the narrative that he was a whiney loser who played for a bad team? That's pretty much his current reputation. He can still salvage that if he just puts in the effort for 3-5 years.

Well said. Good argument. He could be somewhat done with it. Mission accomplished sort of.

I don’t think it’s the case though, but it might be.

I guess the question is does Rashford A) honestly believe he has been giving his all every time he steps on the pitch and can’t believe anyone would question that, B) knows he barely runs, defends, or cares but wants the fans to think he does care so he can continue getting paid without any effort, or C) hates United’s current state and purposely doesn’t bother trying anymore hoping it will help him get transferred out asap? I can’t think of any other options.

Didn't know that. Thanks for the info

No, he isn’t suggesting that. He’s suggesting that you have no idea:

A) what his friends and family are saying to him, and
B) whether he would listen to them anyway

There is literally only one possible piece of PR I would accept and credit him with and that’s if Amorim said “Marcus is back in the team because he’s got his head down, worked incredibly hard, raised his fitness levels and has shown to me he is serious about his career by refraining from nights out during the season”

In contrast to that sort of praise, I find this “Marcus doesn’t understand why he’s being picked on” bullshit to be utterly utterly pathetic and insulting to our intelligence. Does he really think we can’t see what a bone idle, sullen prick he is on the field?
Agreed. If he actually put his head down and was trying his best I'd happily have him back in the squad for now, even if the the club and Amorim felt it was too little too late and wanted to sell him in January or at the end of the season. I was hoping that him being on the bench for Newcastle was the start of that. Instead we get constant PR and now another conveniently timed illness. Obviously there's a chance that it's legit, but more likely than not it's either him sulking or just not performing in training.

The one exception would be if the club felt he had to be frozen out to actually get him to leave (or if a deal is almost done).

God forbid he play and scores 2 goals we'll never hear the end of it and goes another 10 games of he's back he should be played as XYZ.

Enough is enough. We have literally nothing to play for, take the bullet and ship him off

Honestly, if he gave maximum effort on the pitch in training and games I don’t think people would care what he did in his free time. At least I really wouldn’t. But, when you’re struggling during the season and clearly aren’t showing the necessary level of effort then people are naturally going to start questioning these things.

1. He's wildly deluded. And 2. the people around him are all feeding that delusion. Non-United pundits also all queue up desperately peddling this faux-victim narrative in the media.

The second highest paid player in the most followed club in the world. Top 5 highest paid player in the most followed league in the world. Multiple instances of poor discipline / publicly caught lying to his club about illness / zero work rate and awful body language every game. No shit you'll get more scrutiny than other players who get paid a fraction and go out and do their jobs.

I honestly don’t get how Rashford has so much backing amongst United fans. I get he’s a local lad, but surely if United meant so much to him he’d act more professional and make more of an effort. He has looked disinterested and lacklustre for years and continues to get huge support. If a Brazilian or Argentinian player put as little drive and effort into his game as Rashford, he’d be driven from the club by the fans.
Rashford cares not one bit about United and the fans anymore, it’s all about his personal wealth and standing.
He needs to go for the better do the club and to move forward. I’m sick of him and his PR spin that comes with every night out and poor performance. feck off.

He is an embarrassment. A manchild.
He had the media attention with the school lunch campaign. Had that good season. Built up a good reputation. And now has completely ruined it, even his most ardent supporters are looking beyond the local lad narrative and seeing for what he is.

He or his team think he is bigger than any manager or the club and it has finally backfired.

Then you'd never know, and there's no way for you to be incredulous.
Off course he’d know. Everyone would know because whoever is doing his PR work would find a way to let us know that Marcus is working extremely hard because he loves Manchester United and doesn’t want to leave

So the tweet basically only points out rumours. The first occasion before the Everton game wasn't true according to Rashford and the 2nd occasion before the last training session against City was also denied by people close to the player.

Why is everyone acting like the rumours are true without any real evidence?

"Denied by people close to the player"

Mate if I was on the piss, my brother would also lie about it to my boss if he was asked. If you believe every single thing you see and hear then life has been very kind to you.

So now you'd say why is the initial info about him going out believed then? Well, why is there a reason to make it up? Who benefits from bringing down the great and noble Marcus Rashford's character? The answer is no one.

The few times we hear about partying the night before he's a had good game the next day.

I’m sorry but we shouldn’t be supplementing his wages with another club under any circumstances.

Let him rot on the bench if he can’t reduce his wage demands to get a move.

IF we are going to supplement wages it shows how desperate we are to get him away from the squad
