Marcus Rashford (Out) | Rashford: “For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”

Do you agree that if Rashford is back in the team shortly it suggests this is a club generated approach? I’ll happily accept if Rashford isn’t back on the pitch in January that this is all probably from Rashford’s team.

Don’t be silly/sillier.

Amorim has already been straightforward, any praise about how he’s been training recently is likely to come from him, it’s not like Rashford isn’t a subject during the press conferences.

Also, it’s fairly obvious that the club wouldn’t «leak» via journalists that the other players are bewildered as to why Rashford isn’t playing.

But you trust the countless pieces of character assassination briefed by the club?
Such as? Why would it be in the club's interests to devalue their asset, exactly?

I don't need character assassination pieces to supplement what my eyes see whenever he plays; a lazy, passionless player that is declining and unwilling to work.

The ones that have been coming out ever since Amorim exiled him? Even before his interview. I'm not bothered to go and look it up for you.

Up to him to put himself in the shop window and get a move in the summer by playing well or even get fully onboard with Amorim to stay.

How are those articles character assassinations from the club, rather than the british media stirring things up?

How does the club benefit from hanging Rashford out to dry when we’d like to sell him?

It boggles my mind how quickly people believe any shite tweeted by journalists these days. We all know they used to make up stories to sell newspapers, now it’s even easier to throw a tweet out and get clicks and engagement.

There’s zero benefit for Rashford’s camp to brief that he’s had offers from Saudi, it’s like admitting that the only place he can get offers from is a footballers graveyard. His agent will have the phone number, and vice versa, of every major sporting director in Europe. They aren’t sitting there reading tweets from a no mark journalist from the daily mail thinking ‘oh look we need to be quick and bid because Saudi have’.

Rashford’s camp also thought it was a genius idea to do an interview with Winter where he stated he’s ready for a new challenge and the next steps, without actually having interested clubs lined up ready to sign him january.

It’s not as if they appear to be intelligent, i really wouldn’t put it past them to send emails to various clubs from a gmail account.

"he knows he can still earn so much in Europe"

If he really rejected multiple proposals from Saudi Arabia, then surely it's for sporting reasons that he wants to stay in Europe?

There's only so much a millionaire can do with more millions.

For sure, he would earn more in Saudi, but would he receive the same media attention and fame? No. Nowhere near.

He can go to Saudi and top up his millions in 2030 onwards if they're still recruiting names for their project.

Stop avoiding the question. If this is all Rashford generated, do you agree it means we won’t see Rashford back in the team this month?

It could be Rashford generated and he could still be back in the team on sunday.
Why do you think one would rule out the other?

Honestly, I don’t think you will accept any reasonable point on this topic. If Rashford is back in the team shortly, it clearly means some sort of agreement has been reached. If the current media briefings are just from Rashford, with no club involvement, what would lead to him being back in the team?

It feels like the club has failed to find a buyer and is now desperately trying to rescue the situation. Crazy to have got ourselves in this position without a solid plan to get him out.
Were you the same poster that dismissed the news when Rashford missed the training when he went out for a piss in Belfast?

If Rashford were not English, he would be crucified by the pundits and the English media. They find excuses for him and talk about him as if he is a star on the level of Beckham, Van Nistelrooy, or Rooney. He has a bad attitude and relies on his speed, which I suspect he has lost to some extent—likely a reason for his poor form over the last two seasons. Good riddance. I don't think any big club would buy him and pay his enormous salary.

You’re not making any sense. Not entirely sure why you’ve convinced yourself that some sort of agreement have to be reached? Amorim has already been fairly straightforward about what is required, and he early on opened the door for Rashfords return to the team by pointing out that the challenge could just as well be at Manchester United, and that the interview was ill-advised by the people around him, and that people around players like Rashford aren’t always acting in their best interest. The most reasonable explanation for Rashford returning to the team is that he’s performing better in training and living up to the standards set by the manager, something the vast majority would be happy to see.

As always, you seem completely incapable of looking at the bigger picture. It’s a badly kept secret that Rashford has one foot in «he could be great» and one foot in «it would be great to sell him», he has barely put in consecutive solid performances since the few months after the world cup. Manchester United doesn’t need to advertise that the club is interested in selling him, Manchester United doesn’t have to leak negative stories about Rashford to the press, what Manchester United desperately need is a decent club that’s actually interested in signing Marcus Rashford. For some bizarre reason, a select few fanboys have decided that the club is doing character assassination by leaking shit to the press, but they’re all unable to explain it. From the outside, one of the biggest perceived issues at the club has been overpaying, both wages and transfer fees, to/for players that simply aren’t worth it. Since Fergie retired, we’ve barely sold a player that’s moved on to perform better at a bigger club, it’s not a good sign or overall look. The club achieves absolutely nothing whatsoever by leaking that Rashford is a walking problem child, he’s an academy product and such a bad egg that the club would let it be known they desperately want him gone as part of a cultural reboot, yeah that’s certainly going to have clubs lined up ready to sign him.

At the end of the day, Amorim made his comments about Garnacho and Rashford. Rashford and his team decided that an appropriate response was «I’m better than this shit so i’m off» by conducting a planned interview with Winter where it was clearly stated that his intentions are to move on, ready for the next challenge, next steps, always looking to improve yadayada. It’s annoying enough to respond like that when he has someone lined up ready to sign him, but it’s fecking stupid beyond every level there is to make such an interview without actually having someone standing there ready to fork out a transfer fee and wages. It’s put all parties in a shit situation.

Best case is that the knobheads realise the situation for what it is, that despite going public with the intention to leave over two weeks ago, there’s not much concrete interest for a player that’s convinced he’s «it» but in reality he’s a 27 year old player that hasn’t performed well for years combined with being one of the top earners in the Premier League. Maybe it will be a proper wake up call for him, one he badly needs.

I find it hard to believe he is really that unaware of the situation.
This guy?

I was wondering when you'd show up today to defend your idol. Answer me this, are you a United fan or a Rashford fan?

I feel Rashford has already lined up a new team. Whoever that team is, knows they are in the driving seat. They can wait until the end of the window and drive down the price and get themselves a better deal (man utd don't want this hanging over them). Also, Rashford knows he need to do a bit if PR to get rid of the "problem" tag.

All he has, at this point is oversized ego and mega delusion that Barca or even PSG want him. He thinks he is too good for Saudi. In reality, there is nobody who will pay him anything remotely close to what he is on, except for Saudi. NOBODY

And most big teams clearly do not want him on any salary. But he still thinks he is he is prime Ryan Giggs. It's becoming pathetic, to be honest

Maybe you don't know many millionaires, but virtually none of them ever think "I have enough". At least not the ones who don't end up poor again.

Rashford genuinely thinks he can both continue to earn as much as he does at United, and play in a big club. There is strong evidence that is not going to happen, evidence being - none of the good, let alone big, clubs have any whatsoever interest in his service, at any price. We are 14th, for feck's sake, and he is not making the squad on merit. Clearly even Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest do not want him, why would Barca or PSG? Crazy

That's hilarious. If he had a club lined up we'd know all about it.

My gut feeling is that he doesn't want to live or play in Saudi Arabia. He's waiting for a better offer.

He may be waiting a long time!

Well this is all entirely and depressingly predictable.

Rashford & his team are so detached from reality they thought they could play their hand early and he’d have clubs lining up for his signature. As it turns out, no cnuts want him so we’re back to briefing the press about staying and giving his all etc etc I’m sure we’ll have a tweet or an interview about how much he loves the club and never wanted to leave sometime around early February.

This is what happens when your surround yourself with yes men & people who just blow smoke up your ass. He’s bought into his own hype and thrown away any potential he once had.

Since no good teams want me I promise to give it my all if I ever see the field. I know I was just jogging around aimlessly before but I learned my lesson. Honest.

If Arsenal submit a GBP40m bid, would we be willing to sell him to them?
Fair offer but probably unlikely unless Arteta thinks he could improve him.

There’s no intense rivalry between the clubs anymore and there wasn’t even when they sold us RvP all those years ago, so I can’t imagine that would factor into things.

I've been a great fan of his but at this point you'd have to take that if they paid his wages in full.

There's still a good player in there. He has better chances of showing it elsewhere too, I feel.

Reminds me of Kane haggling all summer and moaning about Levy honoring the gentleman's agreement and then coming up with a statement that he was overwhelmed with the fans words of support and he was staying and contributing 100% to the team

I mean, i'm not saying he is a member of MENSA, but one would have thought he was able to work out that there are only a handful of clubs that can pay his wages. And of those, non really need a underperforming, overpaid, left forward.

I am actually surprised that he doesn't seem to want to go to Saudi. Imagine the gold chains he could buy with that money?

There's zero chance of that

IDK.

Would anyone have said Arteta would have bought Havertz for £65mil and put him on £280,000 a week?

I bet you that prior to that transfer being rumoured, people would have said there as a zero chance of that.

And we are taking a Havertz that scored 7 in 35 the season before Arteta signing him. Rashford in this dreadful season of his is averaging better.
